Made a visit to fuel up before taking in some films at the Plaza Film Festival. Pros: Interior is beautifully designed, which makes for a great dining ambience. Kitchen knows how to perfectly poach eggs, a rare feat in El Paso. My mom ordered the Eggs Benedict, which she relished; she said the hollandaise was perfect. The huevos rancheros stole the show: perfectly crispy tortillas, a heavy helping of carnitas, eggs cooked just as ordered. So filling and delicious! Cons: Service is slow although they look adequately staffed. I ordered a glass of wine and was poured about 1/2 of one as photo suggests. Bottomless mimosas are 92% orange juice and 8% bubbly. Given the prices of each dish, one would think they would arrive with a side of fruit or hash browns. This may be a convenient option for hotel guests, but I think there are much better options downtown. read more

I went to go grab here before a show I was attending at the plaza theater and let me tell you it did not disappoint. We ended up staying and having some food because of how everything delicious everything looked on the menu. The ceviche was fresh and delicious, and we also tried the ribeye enchiladas. Great flavor! Bar staff was attentive and friendly. Will be returning and mentioning it to our friends. read more

I stay at the Hotel Paso Del Norte quite frequently for work, and this restaurant is where breakfast is located at. The staff are VERY friendly and remember me by name (and what I drink) which is appreciated. I have learned to ask for the bill when they drop off my drinks, otherwise you may be waiting for entirely too long for it to actually be dropped off. I do not understand why this is the case, but I have managed to find a way to deal with it. As my loyalty perk, I choose free breakfast and actually use it most mornings. The problem is that when I go to checkout of the hotel, I will more often than not see a charge for at least 1 day of breakfast during my stay. After MULTIPLE occurrences, and me reaching out to the hotel to have it corrected, the fact that it still occurs is unacceptable. I have to waste my time to reach out to the hotel, and get it corrected. I have gotten multiple excuses, and promises to get the issue resolved but yet it continues to occur. Tonight was the first time that I actually tried to eat supper at the restaurant, and the reason for this review. A colleague and myself were looking to grab a quick bite to eat so decided to go here. We got sat by the hostess and started to look at the menu. A server stopped by after a couple of minutes and told us that he was going to grab us some waters while we looked at the menu. After 15 minutes or more, and never seeing the waiter again we decided to leave. To add insult to injury, multiple of the wait staff were seen standing around but none of them bothered to stop by. On the way out we were asked how things were and told them the truth that our server had disappeared. Service is SEVERLY lacking. If it wasnt for the free aspect of breakfast, I cant imagine paying for it. read more

Charro beans tasty Southwest salad was big Not so good The menu user interface on a tablet really sucked and was very limited. We visited specifically for breakfast, with a reservation. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. There is currently no valet due to Covid, self park is $5 with validation. When seated, we noticed the table was not cleaned and had crumbs on it, as did the hostess. Rather than reseat us, she brought over spray to clean it while we were seated. Thought it was unusual to try to spray bleach spray while guests are seated, given the few guests in an almost empty restaurant and requested a new, clean table instead. Service was stellar from that point on. Jorge was our server and was attentive and thorough. We ordered the brioche French toast with strawberries, and the classic breakfast. French toast was wonderful and flavorful. The classic breakfast was enough to fill me up and share a little. Eggs cooked perfectly, I got a biscuit as the carb and it was warm and fresh, definitely recommend. I also got the chicken sausage which was flavorful but a little off as far as sausage goes. I'm sure more healthy but maybe I just prefer the less healthy ones Would definitely recommend if you are in the neighborhood or staying at the hotel. read more

The Sabor Cocina is the place for Marriott Platinum Elite members and above go for their breakfast. I think we had a choice of the buffet or order off the menu for takeout. Because we were traveling and my wife is wary of dining in, I ordered takeout so that the breakfast could eaten in our room. I don't think the the server gave me an option of boxing up food from the buffet line. I ordered an avocado toast and a classic breakfast. While waiting for the food to be prepared, I was able to speak to the nice chefs who were working the omelet station. They were happy when I told them that their buffet looked good with their big selection of food. They asked me what I ordered, and they told me that they would take care of whatever I ordered. The avocado toast came with 2 poached eggs. The classic breakfast came with 2 eggs, sausages, and potatos. The chef even included some chicken and waffles from the buffet. Yesterday I found Martha's. Sunday Martha's is closed, so I ate at the hotel restaurant. This restaurant seems to have solved their staffing problems, but now they need to learn to cook food. No matter how you like your eggs cooked, egg whites should never be runny. And the eggs should come with pancakes because the breakfast potatoes suck. I also don't get their huevos rancheros. This is Texas; huevos rancheros come with refried beans and tortillas. The waitress said most people getting the dish are disappointed, asking her what happened to the refried beans. Soooo I give this restaurant a 3... the atmosphere is nice nothing overwhelming or underwhelming. Just a basic table chairs. The menu is on an iPad type thing they give you. Easy enough to navigate. I had the queso for an appetizer, it was ok kind of greasy. I had the chicken enchiladas for my main course and they were ok as well. Large portion.. service was fine we got our drinks refilled and our server checked on us a couple of times. They were moving chairs and tables around the entire time we were there so it was noisy. I would probably not go for dinner again. We will try breakfast and see how that goes.. I did notice on our way out they have a large selection of wine... so bonus points if you're a wine drinker. read more

Our waiter Carlos was quite the gentleman and professional as he tended to our order. Even thought it was near closing time we never felt rush and all the food was fresh. Delicious every time I've eaten there. Is everything perfect? No, servers sometimes forget to bring silverware or coffee w/ my cup and my eggs were runny! lol But, the food is is tasty, not overly greasy or salty and offer lots of veggies/fruits to choose w/ meal, including breakfast.The root veggies, pico, guacamole, broccolini and salads are fresh flavorful. Their Sunday Brunch is outstanding and gives one a glimpse into items on their regular menu. Their Salmon was cooked perfectly. This is one of my favorite restaurants in El Paso. Try this place. Great new restaurant that has excellent food. Been there 3 times and yes the first time had some issues since they just opened, but now the service has vastly improved for lunch time. I'm in and out in 30-45 min. I've had the pulled pork Mac and Cheese and the carbonara, both really good. It is pricey since it is in a hotel, but I believe worth it! read more

The music of billy Townes was outstanding as always. Did not select the buffet. Ordered coffee; had to ask for silver wear and napkin. We got cocktail napkins instead. No spoon included for coffee. Had to ask for bigger napkins. Ordered classic breakfast, two medium eggs that came with potatoes. Eggs were over done and Both were cold and dry. Had to ask for toast as it was not included and of course it was extra. Price was not bad but the quality and service were mediocre. Staff might need a lesson on serving and what to serve. We were a party of 6 on a Friday evening. Place was virtually empty on a night before a show at the Plaza (should have been pur first clue). They are trying to be clever and hip with digital menus, but they are just a pain... Once our order was taken, we waited far longer than should have been expected with the number of staff compared to number of guests. Food was delivered sporadically and took our server more than 6 trips to get right. The food was mediocre at best, service was bare minimum, concern for errors or bad food was zero. Queso appetizer was split & grainy, so we sent that back. Other food was ok (hard to mess up shrimp tacos and grilled steak), but way overpriced compared to GOOD food in El Paso. Understand that the owners think it is special because of the prime location iy occupies in the Paseo del Norte hotel and near the Plaza (can't imagine what their overhead must run), but it could be so much more. Sort of sad when you think of the potential there, but here are MUCH better options very nearby, use those. read more

I have gave them multiple tries I do not care what I order they never tell me they're out of something they just give me a replacement item and I get it and it's not what I ordered for example you ordered chocolate cake you get chocolate mousse you order vanilla ice cream you get coffee ice cream just not honest business...And I never really Like speaking negative. Had dinner here and was very disappointed with the service (lack there of). The mussels were unopened when served to me. Unopened mussels were dead from the start, and are unsafe to eat. All mussels need to be gently pried open to eat, but if the shell is so tightly closed you need a crowbar, it means that one is no good. Also, when I informed the server, she offered to have them "cooked more." We spoke with the manager and he took 20% off our bill--instead of taking off the mussels. No taste. I personally felt they thought we wouldn't know the difference between legit and not. No rice in downtown El Paso lol. Chef or server didn't offer anything else including a discount off the tacos w no rice. Just brought out the wanna be beans. Terrible. Don't waste your time. Had a great 1/2 lb burger and enjoyed being served by Manuel P. at the bar. He was friendly and chatted with me. Went there for lunch today--arrived at !:15 p.m., no service for 20 minutes, the food took 45 minutes to arrive (we watched it grow cold under the heat lamp). I went here to order the Pork Shank Mole. I ordered the Sabor margarita while waiting. The magarita was strong with the tequila but was not tasty but very bitter. Bartender didn't make an acceptable marg. I was disappointed, but not near as much as when they told me the pork shank was not available. The server could only offer a hen to replace the pork shank. They should gave made another offer but they didn't. Not coming back. Server was good but his hands were tied by manager. They should have offered ne a steak. read more

Extremely surprised and disappointed with the customer service. We stopped by for dinner on a Friday; party of 5. The restaurant was not full. They had several available tables. It took the hostess 15 minutes to acknowledge us because she was busy seating a large party. A simple "I apologize for the wait but I will help you as soon as I can" would have been nice. When she finally acknowledged us, she said she couldn't sit us down for another 20 minutes to give the kitchen enough time to get caught up due to the large parties she previously sat before us. I told her we would sit at the bar waiting for her call. She and the manager told us NO. The manager said there was only one bartender and to try the bar outside of the restaurant. The Good: Great open air well lit restaurant. Excellent ambiance. The food is very good. True sour dough pancakes and some of the best maple syrup I have ever tasted. Eggs Benedict was tasty. Appetizers were also good. Ahi Tuna salad and calamari were both well above par. The Bad: Service. My waitress brought me huevos rancheros instead of eggs Benedict. I questioned her and she said it was eggs Benedict. She came back 2 mins later and said she made mistake. When they brought me Benedict, the eggs were over cooked with hard yolk. She had no clue how the egg should be cooked. Brought me pancakes and I asked for syrup. The pancakes got cold waiting on syrup that never came. Didn't bring any back so I had to get up and get syrup off buffet table. I don't blame the waitress as much as I blame management. She has no basic understanding of how dishes should be prepared. Let your staff try your food and explain how it should be so they can help QC if something is off or so your wait staff doesn't look lost when someone says that the yolk should be runny. Such a beautiful hotel, you'd imagine the service at any of the restaurants had better live up to the expectations; however, sabor looked like it had potential but the server was sadly uninterested in his job. I'm sure he's a nice person but boy, he didn't greet us with a warm "hi, my name is ___ and I'll be taking care of you..." We also were given two different menus. Not a big deal tho, just confusing at first. Shortly after we ordered, we saw our ceviche sitting there for 20 min while no one delivered it to our table and it even came out after our meals. My husband also ordered an additional drink that never came out. Also my child asked for a tiny thing of salsa for her kids quesadilla. Of course he forgot, I had to ask for it again.
