I'm long past the stage in life to need an engagement ring, but I've been wanting to have my wedding ring remade to adjust the setting. I've talked to a few jewelers who tell me that what I want is risky and not recommended. (Tension setting/bypass design). I saw something in the window that stopped me in my tracks and I ran inside to get a closer look. It turns out that the ring in the window is the setting that I want, but has much more gold in the band than I prefer. I consulted with a staff member, who gave me a few options and recommendations, as well as an estimate of cost. It was quite a bit more than I'd expected, but I appreciated his thorough consultation and may consider coming back in the future. However, I didn't leave empty handed. For the last 12 years I have been visiting Needham Jewelers every 6 months for my wedding ring inspection. They did an awesome job with my ring and I love it! My husband drew what he wanted and they created it for him. For custom made engagement rings and bands, I will say they are excellent. Also, I brought a bracelet from them and the sales person was very helpful. My only issue is that they don't clean/polish the jewelry after the inspections like they used to. Sometimes I even ask them to clean/polish it better and the answer is the same, "that's the best we can do". Well, evidently the employees have changed over the years and so has their service. Not really a jewelry store, but more of a knick-knack store. Wondered around briefly while they attempted to figure out whether they could fix a watch. Very briefly. The jewelry they do have is very dated and hideous. 1999 called and would like it's tacky and cluttery junk back. I was laughing so hard I pulled a side muscle. Who shops here? I guess this type of place can manage to stay in business in a town like this where people are quite primitive. They didn't have the proper equipment/training/skills to fix the watch after all that. At first this jewelry store was super helpful and accommodating. There was a promotion that you get a free mens ring if you buy a mens ring so we ordered both of them in the same size. Once we got the free ring back, it ended up being a bit bigger than the actual ring even though they're both the same size. They said there's nothing we can do about this and that we can't re-order it in a smaller size which is a huge bummer. We thought we were getting a good deal with 2 rings for basically the price of one. One of the workers was about to order us a smaller one then a different worker intervened and said we couldn't do that. I would've recommended this place but not anymore. read more

This is a review for their service (not necessarily the product; though, definitely looked and felt like quality) I walked in to SE Needham's on whim; I was wearing flip-flops, a hoodie, and a backpack. The customer service representatives didn't even blink - they approached me and asked if I wanted any help, I let them know that I was just browsing, and they let me continue on my merry way. A few minutes later, one of the owners (didn't know it until I left the store.. despite him pointing out his name to me in the brochure) approached me and asked if I had any questions or if there was anything he could interest me in. He took me around and pointed things out - I received a very well-rounded and knowledged tour (which caters exactly to my curios personality), he let me take pictures, hold them in my hands to get an idea of what I might like. If you are a college student on a budget DO NOT start your search here. Don't get me wrong, very friendly staff who knows their stuff, but the prices here are very high. They try to sell you high grade diamonds, but the truth is, you can get a lower-quality diamond that is the exact same (you can only notice a difference when looking through their high powered magnifying glass in the bright store). We purchased my wedding ring here ten years ago. The sales people are hit or miss. Some are very attentive and personable, while a few have come across as pushy. Frankly, I don't expect much since most of them are young and are just trying to make a living. Their management, however, has been great. Joe Needham was amazing. We had had a few issues with my ring. Joe sat down with us and we calmly explained what had happened. (I hate grown adults that throw tantrums trying to bully stores. Please don't act that way and expect customer service.) Joe listened carefully and empathetically and made it right to us. He was competent and even shared a few stories with us. At the end, we were very pleased. That is a one of the benefits of going to this establishment. The management is experienced and it runs in their blood as this is a multi-generation family business. They can't swindle customers and move somewhere else like some other shops. Worst service ever!!!! They get you to buy the ring and have this "so called guarantee" if you bring your ring in for the inspection every 6 months. Well I did that with mine then one of my prongs was wearing down. I told them that at the cleaning, they said it's fine everything is tight. So 4 months later my diamond falls out and gets lost. they make me pay for a new one. They said oh I will have Gene call you. No Call was ever returned I made multiple calls then they told me they would get diamonds equivalent to what I had and I could come pick one out. So weeks later I get a call saying my ring is done!!!! I said ummm I never picked out a diamond. The response was "well Gene picked one out and he discounted it". Discounted something that should have been under a guaranteed plan!!!! Yah so they made me pay for it..... When they built up the prongs you could see every drip line from the soldering it looked like it was done by a 5 year old, That I payed a good hunk of money for! The lady just said here it is and this what you owe. No customer service on her end at all. She then was suppose to have gene yet again call me.......... that never happened. 12 times I tried to call and go in to talk to "Gene" not one time did he return my call. After all the technicians said I will have gene call you! Man what a good owner Months later...... Now I go in yet again Today to pick up the same ring that the prong is bent that's why I dropped it off. They didn't even fix the bent prong! But hell its guaranteed!!! I said yah that's what you say and last time you made me pay for a new diamond!!! I will for now on take my business elsewhere.!! Oh and to top it off they said the diamond was tight in the setting I took it to another jeweler and it wasn't tight in the setting at all. We were ring shopping recently and were floored by the very high prices here. That and my wife didn't like the gaudy ring selection. Service wasn't helpful or friendly either, just pushy to overpay for your diamond. Same experience I'd had here years earlier when they wanted to severely overcharge me for servicing my watch collection. Fred Meyer jewelers ended up servicing my entire collection for a fraction of what they quoted me at Needham's, that after resizing all of my bands for free a few years before that. Fred Meyer earned my business with excellent customer service, and for that we bought my wedding band from them. That's how it should work. But S.E. Needham care more about greed and money, and less about community and making lifelong customers. I visited 3 different jewelers in Logan before deciding on where to purchase an engagement ring. SE Needham's was far and above the other two in all aspects. We were offered bottled water and were not rushed at all. The employees were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I was shown each diamond through a magnifying glass in order to observe clarity and color more accurately. Our consultant was very transparent about prices. A beautiful thing about SE Needham's is they do not contract with other diamond sellers. I was torn between two rings, and we ended up combining the designs to create a totally unique ring! They did a digital replica to make sure I liked it. My ring is unlike anyone else's, which is exactly what I wanted. It came with a free engraving, lifetime insurance on not only the pave diamonds but the center one, and free cleanings. We also got a gift card to Gia's and now qualify for a preferred customer discount (10% off all purchases). In contrast, When I visited Jerricks the employees couldn't answer half of my questions and did not have as many customization options because they purchased all their jewelry as is rather than design and assemble their own. When i went to Diamond Gallery the sales representative was unprofessional and not very friendly. Both of those places had higher prices than Needham's. I see Joe and Eugene Needham around town sometimes and they always say hi and ask how I'm doing. I loved SE Needham's and recommend them with full stars! read more

I really enjoyed my experience at S.E. Needham's. My parents got their engagement ring here and recommended that I go to the store before I purchase a ring from Etsy. I did, somewhat reluctantly because I was afraid of being worked over for commission. But when I walked in, my salesman Chad was very friendly. After getting to know me, he asked me what my price range was and only showed me things within that price range. He was excited about jewelry and was very helpful in answering questions I had. What sold me on purchasing from S.E. Needham's was the peace of mind that comes from the insurance they place on the ring: completely replaceable if lost or stolen within a year, and then completely covered for life for cleaning and maintenance, including the center stone. This was especially important when on the night I proposed, the wedding band fell out of its ring box. I was obviously concerned, but did not go into cardiac arrest because I knew that it was covered by S.E. Needham's. I wish I could give them a 4.5, because the only concern I had was that the ring took a little longer than they first told me to get, but that was only because they had to remake some of their pieces in rose gold for me. Other than that, I wholeheartedly recommend S.E. Needham's. In fact, I recommended a couple of friends of mine to go there and they also had a great experience. This place is not what it used to be 10 or 15 years ago. I remember when Mel worked there and you could go in and have a battery changed in your watch and he would tell you no charge because you bought your watch there or if you didn't, he would ask you to buy your next watch there. Nowadays, if you have any repair work done, they charge you an arm and two legs. In addition they keep the worn out parts because they have value and they don't give you any break on the price. They merely just keep the worn out parts. Today, I picked up a sterling silver chain on which I had a clasp replaced. They kept the worn out clasp. I have had them do this with gold chains too. They act like it was no big deal or something they did by accident. And they will give you the part if you call and ask for it. Nonetheless, what they are doing is stealing from their customers (and I've been a customer for close to 50 years) when they keep something of value without offering something in exchange. I truly believe they are knowingly doing this. To reiterate, this is not the local friendly business it was 15 or 20 years ago. This is a business that is now cutting corners and doing everything it can to survive in an Amazon world even at the expense of their longstanding customers. They still do good work. However, unless you need jewelry repair, I recommend Amazon or somewhere else. If you are having repair work done, ask for your worn out parts. They have value which Needhams will more than happily steal from you without offering anything in return! read more

Originally, I had heard about S.E. Needham through a friend. I began browsing with Joe, just enjoying our conversation. I had no idea that he was the owner. He never pushed me to look at anything or to purchase anything, he just shared with me his love for his job and fine jewelry. I had my wife's ring customized and cast, but upon receiving the ring we had two of the diamonds fall out within a couple days. Twenty-four hours after repairing the ring, another diamond fell out.
