I would suggest that no one should go to S & K Buick GMC in Springfield, IL. I bought a 2021 GMC Sierra Denali and brought it in to their shop because the vehicle was experiencing issues when the vehicle would hit speeds of 42 MPH and 82 MPH. S & K diagnosed it as having 841 miss fires in the last 1,500 miles. The vehicle had less then 7,000 miles on it. They then told me it was an issue with the transmission and showed me a Technical Bulletin from 2019 showing that the older model GMC were having those issues. I explained to them it was a 2021 GMC so the Technical Bulletin wouldn't be applicable. I then contacted another GMC Dealer that told me the lifters on the engine weren't built to the proper specification (other people were experiencing the same issue) and that GMC was offering a rebuild of the engine, which required about 30 hours of bench work. The vehicle was already at S & K so they could have opted to do the work but since the vehicle wasn't bought through them they didn't care even though the vehicle was under warranty. KC Summer in Mattoon rebuilt the engine, which was still covered under warranty. As part of my trouble, GMC extended my manufacture warranty to 100,000 and 6 years. Well after 20,000 miles of driving the vehicle I discovered a bolt was missing that holds the dipstick tight against the engine so I brought it out to S & K thinking this was such a minor issue they could easily screw in a new bolt. The service desk person was nasty and would not honor the warranty that GMC have gave me and he told me he's not going to fix the issue and the manufacture's warranty (even though it was extended) was not going to cover the work. I will never shop or seek service from S & K again. There sales associates are rude and their service department doesn't know what they are doing. If you like getting ripped off and unprofessional employees that don't back their vehicles S & K is right for you. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT SHOP OR GET SERVICE FROM S & K. I also bought a vehicle from S & K when I was in my early 20s and I experienced similar issues with getting it fixed as S & K. Never again will I do business with this horribly run company with a TOXIC work and customer service culture. Shop at KC Summers in Mattoon for excellent service and avoid S & K. I'm not sure why I went back to them after the first time they misdiagnosed my vehicle with a transmission problem when in fact it was an engine lifter issue. I should have know better. I thought maybe they'd change and if so, I was considering doing business with them. They haven't changed one bit since 2021. They also tried claiming that I didn't bring my vehicle to them in 2021; however, the customer service rep that answered my call said she had me in their system and I came in 2021 and she had indicated they saw my vehicle for transmission issues. I had to tell her it wasn't transmission issues it was because the engine wasn't built to the proper specifications. read more

UPDATE: After 20 days and a "repair" they still did not fix it. It went to Friendly Chevrolet and they repaired it within a few days and it's actually fixed correctly. S and K had my father's BRAND NEW truck in its service department for TWENTY DAYS to "rebuild differential". He was told that he could not have a loaner vehicle because he didn't buy his truck from that particular dealership. S/K were informed that he uses his truck for his line of work. They did not care. In the past, he has purchased 2-3 trucks from S/ K in Spfld. He purchased this new truck at Laura GMC in Collinsville, IL because S/K Springfield had no GMC Canyons. If you provide warranties for vehicles, you should provide the same amenities for all customers under warranty, not just those that purchased at that particular dealership. Timeline: 3/23/23 Dropped truck off and part was ordered. Dealership took the truck apart. It was then completely undriveable. Was told the part would arrive 3/27 or 3/28 and it would be repaired then. 3/28, called the dealership and was told 3/30 or 3/31 will be ready. 3/30, called late in the day and was told by Phil (service manager) that the order for my part was cancelled and they cannot re-order for the same parts? Huh?? 3/31 my mother called and spoke to the GM at the dealership, Jim Kroll. Jim is on board with no loaner vehicle and has no answers. 4/4/23, called the dealership AGAIN and was told it will be the end of this week. 4/7, was told mid next week AND finally offered a loaner for 4/10. NINETEEN DAYS after drop off. His 2020 and 2022 Canyons had differential issues. The dealership has tried to blame my father, twice! GMC incompetence has cost him over $2,000.00 in missed work because his brand new truck was now undriveable because this highly incompetent dealership took it apart with no offer of a loaner, a rental, or even a timely repair. S and K service manager has zero business running that department. Has no clue how to deal with customers. Same fr Jim Kroll. Businesses fail when a manager has to always be right. read more

Well as you seen on my last post I was in search for a vehicle. And I found it at S&K. To be more exact I would only work the Sales Consultant Bart. Phenomenal service from start to finish. Here is what I mean: Was told could qualify for a 2010 Impala. Nice car, nothing wrong with it low miles. I looked at it but also saw the Chrysler 300. Asked if they could call the bank and see what they could. Not only did they say yes (mind you this was the same car I wanted to look at with the other dealer), but my down payment costs were half of what I was originally going to do. Now it gets better. I noticed after all the paper work was done, there were some issues with the Pin Striping. Part was missing after washed it and the front of the was messed up. They are going to set up a time to have it corrected at no cost to me. This is a used vehicle, so I was very surprised when they said they could do this. I have never been treated as badly by a car dealership as I was by S & K Buick of Springfield. I've purchased 3 cars from this dealership within the past 3-4 years. The last one I bought in November 2017 was a 2015 GMC Terrain Denali. Since that time I've had the check engine light on repeatedly (6-7 times). I've taken it in to be serviced but the light continues to go on and off intermittently. This past time the dealership had my vehicle for almost 3 weeks and still have no idea what's wrong or how to fix it. I was able to look up the "check engine code" on the internet and it perfectly describes the issue and the fixes. The vehicle is still under warranty but they continue to be unable to fix it. Twice the check engine light came on and the car wouldn't start leaving me stranded. The best solution they could come up with was to put in a new battery. And the wanted to charge me $200. I refused to pay so they put one in "at their cost". Two days later I was stranded again this time in Bloomington at 9:00 at night. Yesterday I went to the dealership and told them I was done with the car, and wasn't leaving until we had something worked out. I spoke directly to the GM. He handed me off to an experienced salesman. Said to find something on the lot that was similar and we'd figure it out. We worked for an hour and final selected a vehicle a 2015 Buick Enclave - they had no 15 terrain denali cars. Their initial offer was they would take my vehicle and almost $10,000 additional money. A brand new Terrain Denali and a brand new Buick Enclave are about $10,000 difference. I refused such a ridiculous proposal and they finally settled at $6000 difference. They decided my 10 month older vehicle had lost $3800 in value since they offered me $25,000 for it when 10 months ago I paid 28,800. I asked that since the car was still under warranty and this was their issue they give me back the money I paid for the car. Clearly they refused despite all of the issues I had with the vehicle almost from the start. I walked out the door without the GM even speaking to me again. I made sure on my way out I told the GM I had never been treated so badly nor been so disappointed in a dealership and specifically in him as the GM. The best they could do since is have the "experienced salesman" send me some generic email thanking me for stopping in. I will never return to S & K Buick and would like anyone who would like to share this post to please do so. I've been in the customer service field for over 25 years and this is by far the worst example of how a business would try to retain a customer. read more

BE AWARE! Had 2013 enclave in for a/c issue. Within a short time recv call that said rear evaporator was leaking and needed replaced, $1150.00. I just had that replaced under warranty a little over a year ago so I paid 100 for a diagnostic fee and took vehicle back where it had been replaced. After several days of running ac they could not find any major issues with ac other than low on coolant, definitely could not find anything wrong with rear or front evaporators. Most people would have paid the $1150 to replace evaporator that appears not to even be replaced . I am thinking of filing a complaint with GM and feel I should have at least the diagnostic fee refunded. FYI- So I go into service department today and asked the service team leader how they determined in an hour or less that I needed 1150 worth of repairs and I was told they run dye thru the system and rear evaporator showed a leak. I showed him the report from another dealer and after 3 days of running dye thru it they could find no leak in the evaporator unit. I asked the advisor how that is possible and he said "NO COMMENT" That was it! He told me it did not cost me anything and I corrected him. It did cost me 100 diagnostic charge that I thought should be refunded. Could have cost me 1150 for a part that apparently I did not even need ! Asked to talk to his boss but of course he was not there today. I will go to GM as I do not think this is right at all. read more

This place has horrible service and will cost you a lot of money along with disrespect from clueless employees. They gave me a diagnostic on my car for a PASSENGER door being broke and i was told i needed a DRIVER's door module. I was already told by 1 Stop Auto Shop that I needed a module for the door but without the proper test, which only certain places have due to high cost, could not be sure. I then took it to S&k at the recommendation of 1 Stop. i went to autozone to get parts for something else already getting fixed and they told me to try landmark cadillac because they might be cheaper. To my surprise it was whole $100 cheaper. I called back to verify the price at S&K and A.J. Brown, the service manager that made this a horrible experience, immediately caught an attitude and told me "well take it over there then." I am a Soldier and a single parent. We don't make a lot of money and every penny counts so i went over to landmark. I called again to ask what exactly i needed and i was told a DRIVERS DOOR MODULE. I said why would i need that for a passenger door. He cut me off and said again, very rudely, A DRIVERS DOOR MODULE! i said ok i'll tell them. I went to landmark but I did not get another $90 diagnostic because i figured that would be ridiculous and trusted A.J. Brown. I said why would they say i need this part for the passengers door and landmark said with it being electrical it could be causing an issue in the other door but had no way of knowing without the diagnostic. The part being electrical cannot be taken out once it's in. The people at Landmark said that the DRIVERS DOOR MODULE that A.J. Brown told me i needed did nothing. A.J. told me they are ignorant and had no idea what they were doing. The guy working on my car has been working on Cadillacs for 35 years according to the certifications on his wall. A.J. said it must be reprogrammed. They said it didnt need it, their diagnosis was just wrong. I went back to S&K expecting a reprogramming and be done with it. A.J. walks back in and said "we went in and it DOESN'T need reprogramming (just like landmark said) it works just fine." I said "no that's not true the passenger door still does not work." He said "but its here for the drivers door." I said no that door has never had an issue. He said "you brought it here for that and you knew exactly why you brought it here and understood that when you brought it." I'm furious at this point and said, "Why would i bring something that works to see you and you told me on multiple occasions it was the DRIVERS DOOR MODULE. Apparently you didn't check to see if the door worked." He continued to call me a liar without using the word, completely disrespecting me. They checked the car again and the PASSENGER DOOR MODULE, at $367 and all the time i've taken off work resulting in a loss of over $100 in wages, was the issue! I recorded by video, from my cell phone hip case the whole second conversation as his boss Randy Powell sat there and let A.J. disrespect me again and call me a liar saying that him and his team knew exactly what they were doing and what i asked for. So WHY did this man and his team NOT CHECK THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE DOOR AND HOW IF THE DOOR STILL WORKED WAS IT BROKEN! He told me and his boss that the notes in the computer, which are written by him and his team, not the computer, stated it was that door. A.J. Brown and at this point S&K Buick on Dirksen in Springfield, IL IS A DISHONEST USED CAR DEALERSHIP! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR FOR SERVICE THERE! I cannot speak on the sales teams or the quality of their cars, only on the service teams inability to tell the truth when they make a mistake costing me at this point over $500.
