Went in for an oil change yesterday and they said they recommended to have the rear end serviced for an extra charge of $149 . I took a look at the rear the next day and it was obvious the differential cover had never been taken off. I called the service manager and told him it looked like it had never been serviced, he said the plug is removed and the oil is sucked out. Long story short he said he would give me a credit for the gasket I could use for the next service . I don't want to go back again I want the money back on my card. We had an amazing experience from the sales side Tobin was great, however when it comes to service we have had nothing but disappointment. We took our 24 Silverado 2500 on June 24th and has been at the shop for over 5 weeks. We have been lied to multiple times by the techs and by the manager of the service department. The first lie began when we were told they would start working on it and it sat for over 2 weeks without being touched. I spoke with the service manager the phone, caught him in yet another lie regarding parts availability and told us the truck wouldn't be done until the following Tuesday the 5th of August almost a week later than they "guaranteed" it would be done, parts come in broken, I understand, however the tech told me that the part would be in tomorrow August 1st but the only person available to work on it was on vacation on Tuesday, August the 5th, after speaking with the service manager John, he told us that the part we were waiting on wasn't going to be delivered until Tuesday the 5th with no mention of the ONE tech that was able to work on the truck being on vacation... I let him know that I felt like I was continually being lied too he was unwilling to take accountability for the lies he told me. Here are the multiple voicemails I have received stating the truck will be ready only to be told something different the next day. I am very disappointed and I hope that no one else has to deal with the same type of treatment. Update- called at 10:00 on August 5th to make sure it would be ready by noon like the service manager told us, and to no surprise it was not ready by noon and they asked us to wait until 4:00, another day planned around a pick up time that they were unable to make happen. read more

I called to get an estimate on the replacement of the driver's side windshield wiper mechanism, that flew off in the middle of a strong storm. I explained that the 18 inch or so piece that's attached to the body at the windshield level remained, but everything else was gone. No help was provided by the service attendant, just "you'll have to bring it in for us to look at it." I asked for just a ballpark guess, and then he hung up on me. Very friendly. read more

Never leave reviews but felt necessary. Dropped my car off for service and let them know I would be back to pick it up when done. They stated they would call me and let me know it's done and never did. They also never stated I needed to pick it up before 6pm. When I googled the dealership it closes at 8pm. upon arrive around 6:40, the front desk lady stated she cannot help me retrieve my keys due to the service department being closed And said no one could help me. I needed my keys due to my HOUSE key being attached. I told her I can do without my car for the night but I need to get into my home. She insisted repeatedly that she cant help me and neither can a manager because they don't have keys for it. Once a manager came to help me, I watched him reach in a filing cabinet and hand me my keys. He took care of me and was very helpful and professional! The lady who I spoke to was unprofessional about the situation, and refused to try to help. She is leaving a bad reputation for the dealership considering I was a returning customer. read more

I hate when they look through you like you don't exists or need help. I'm not sure what there definition of Friendly is but they ALL need to close down for the day and have a pow wow. Took my 2018 GMC Denali to this dealership in Springfield IL, on the 21st of May 2025 for an oil change. Once i made it back to my destination, I got a low oil/add oil notification on my truck so I called them. They asked if I checked the dip stick, I informed them that I just paid them $200 for oil change service and shouldn't have to. I later checked and the dip stick was boned dry. They drained it but didn't add any back. They had it towed back to the dealership, added oil, drove it into their shop, did whatever and gave me my keys back. I told them that I just drove a diesel 70 MPHs about 15 miles with no oil and all you want to do is add oil and hand my keys back to me and call it a day? I had to hang around but eventually spoke with a manager and he sided with the service manager "Stating that the diesel mechanic said it had 7 quarts in it and they only added 3 more. Also that the dip stick won't register any oil if it is 3 quarts low...." That's the biggest bunch of bull I've heard in a while. I responded that it just got towed 70 + mph's on a flatbed on the interstate, loaded and unloaded of that flatbed and the dipstick was still dry. Make that make sense. Now I have to wait until the inevitable (engine failure) to get them to do the right thing. Beware!!!! read more

I also forgot to mention that when the girl checked me in, I told her that my MyLink was malfunctioning and I had read online that it might just need an upgrade. Nowhere on my invoice can I find that my MyLink was even looked at. But, that is probably a good thing since it took nearly six hours to replace my purge valve. read more

Everytime we take it in for an oil change they say its leaking oil. Um yeah we know but from what I read here I am NOT letting anyone touch the engine in my Trax. You ruin it i will not be paying for it anymore. I will gladely stop buying from here too. Honestly you all are so unprofessional for being able to be paid like you are. Ha, get real. If we dont make an apointment for anything but the OIL do NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE! you guys keep messing up are glove compartment where the air filter is STOP TOUCHING IT! I will personally install a lock on this glovebox if you don't stop touching it. They replaced the gasket even though I told them there was no oil on the ground. $500 later the car still burns 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. I made an appointment and set time for rear brake leakage issue. I took the vehicle in 10 mins. early. The vehicle was not even looked at by a Service Tech for weeks. Why bother to make an appointment? It took a month for a Tech to finally work on it and fix the rusted brake lines (brake lines - a month). When I went to pick up the vehicle it would not start. The Service Manager said we needed a new battery and would be happy to sell me a new one. The battery in it was less than a 1yr old. I had the battery checked by 3rd party and it was just fine, just needed a charge. Probably voltage charge down due to the vehicle sitting outside for a month in the fringed temperature. I finally had the vehicle towed to a REAL SERVICE garage to finish its repairs. Amazingly the 3rd party garage was able to get my vehicle up and running in one day. This was a HORRIBLE experience!! Just like the last time we had our vehicle in for service. I will NEVER buy a vehicle from this dealership, nor will I ever have my vehicle serviced there again!! read more

Service Dept. Review The actual service on the vehicle was fine. It was completed ahead of estimated time and a loaner vehicle was provided and appreciated. The individual service manager and the technicians did their jobs and were polite and if my interaction ended there this would probably be a 3 or 4 star review. However, there were at least two issues, one minor and one major that are bothering me. The minor one being - and I assume this is standard - being charged a $115 diagnostic/evaluation charge when I stated the exact problem I wanted addressed. Again, I'm guessing it's some standard practice so it's no big deal. The cost of the part and labor was right where it should have been. The part I am displeased with was the complete dismissal by the service department manager (assumption)/"the boss" who refused to even discuss a payment plan. Wasn't looking for a years deferred payments or anything, simply half down and remainder in a week when the next paycheck comes in. Normally wouldn't ask for it, but these aren't normal times due to the COVID-19 shutdown. If that's their stance, fine but the dismissive wave of the hand wasn't cool. I had such a hard time finding a new vehicle that was what I felt good with and within my price range. I had been across the street for an hour or more for four straight days. They were trying to push me into a car that wasn't entirely what I wanted and at a much higher price than I was comfortable paying. After hearing my frustrations, I had a great time finding a new vehicle with the salesman who listened to what I wanted and found something. Then the GM, Bill, was able to get it right in the midst of my price range. They were so easy to work with compared to the other dealers had I been at. I've now had my Trax for three months and still am in love. Didn't have an ounce of buyers remorse with it either (which is HARD to avoid when purchasing a NEW vehicle). I've taken it to get serviced at the dealership, which was included in the purchase. The service staff was courteous, kept my car clean, and didn't push me to do any "extra" unnecessary maintenance. With everything said, I'd highly recommend Friendly Chevy to anyone looking to buy a new vehicle. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. If you are looking for the worst service in the Springfield area look no further. I first noticed issues with my gfs transmission in her Chevy spark on the 16th of August. Called Chevy 4 times in 2 days and never got a call back. Had it diagnosed at one stop in Sherman and they were able to get to it quickly and determine trans was bad. It was covered by a GM warranty and had to be towed to Chevy on the 23rd. Said they might be able to get to it Friday but most likely next week. We asked for a loaner or rental and they said they don't do that. Found out from a coworker that had service a couple months prior that she was given a loaner. Called Chevy and they said only if you buy your car here. She did not buy her car from them. Another week goes by and they diagnose trans and say we might have it finished before labor day weekend. It was not finished before the weekend and that when we decided we had enough. I called GM warranty customer service and they told us that Chevy HAS TO provide a rental. I called Chevy and told them this and 2 hours later I got a call back saying a rental would be ready AFTER Labor Day weekend. Told us her car would be ready Weds. Got the rental Tues. Car wasn't fixed until that weekend. They had her car over 2 weeks and only provided a rental when we told the GM said that have to. Completely unprofessional and unaccommodating. We will be going any other Chevy facility after this experience even if it's our our way. There is a reason they only have a 2 star average rating. read more

After purchasing a used truck, I noticed that the navigation wasn't working correctly. I was also getting a vibration at highway speeds. I made arrangements to have it looked at and took it in. George in Service was very nice and helpful. He gave me a nearly new Chevy Cruze as a loaner. It was the nicest loaner I've ever used. Good job Friendly! Anyway, they found and fixed my two problems, and even found a third problem during diagnostics and fixed it as well. When I went to pick it up, they explained the issues completely. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this visit. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I think they should found and fixed these problems before the truck was offered for sale. read more

I called and was put in touch with the sales manager and told him what I was looking for in a new truck. He sent me multiple options he had in stock that were didn't quite meet my needs so in 30 minutes he found the truck at another dealer an hour away and had it picked up, prepped and ready to go in an afternoon. And to top it off he beat everyone in St Louis by $1000's. He also gave me the most for my trade. It felt like I was dealing with a family member and not the typical "car salesman". 1. The short bald salesman is a liar and jerk. He lied to my mother about how much money he'd buy her car for in an effort to entice her to come back later an purchase a new car. When I went with her to check on this and possibly help her buy a new one, he lied and said he never quoted the number he told her. On top of that, he claimed he could only give her AUCTION price for her car, which was only a couple years old and had far fewer miles than others. I was raised around cars and I did my research. He offered 4K less than it was worth in an effort to get rid of us. 2. The service department are either idiots or thieves (or both). My mother's check engine light went on, so she took it in. They claimed on two separate trips the cause for it were spark plugs, water pumps, etc etc. charged her $1000 over two trips and guess what? The light STILL came on. She asked them to check the electrical on my suggestion and that of another auto place. Did they? NO. Why? Because she's an older woman. They charged her $100 JUST to plug her computer in a car (which any idiot can tell you doesn't cost them a dime), only to misdiagnose the car for the 2nd time. DO NOT GO HERE. They lie, they can't repair anything, and they don't care about anything but sales. UPDATE: They offered my mother her money back in the form of a credit and offered to fix her car. I was pleased to hear this! However, they've had her car for nearly A WHOLE MONTH. Still no one has called her with any update. I'm hardly surprised by this, but I'm very interested in what in the world thy are doing? Building her a new car? I could have fixed it MYSELF weeks ago. They need to explain themselves. Extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism I encountered towards the end of my tour checking out and comparing cars that would be a right fit for me. The beginning atmosphere I had with some of the team members was friendly and upbeat when showing me a few cars that I would possibly be interested in. The last car I test drove towards the end of the night, I took to my husband to make sure he liked it as well and the car ended up not being the right fit for everything we wanted overall. After test driving and comparing cars all day that this company had to offer I decided to take a break and possibly come back another day to see what other inventory that might come in the future. After being on my feet all day I was tired and ready to go home with telling the salesmen that I haven't found the right fit and I wanted a few days to think it over. With that being said the attitude and mannerisms had changed in the salesmen and started receiving backlash over my credit score not being the "best" and being ridiculed over my source of income. Being in my mid 20's I'm still trying to build credit but I presumed they would work with what I had to offer and point me in the best direction possible that would satisfy both parties. As a young woman that is 7 months pregnant I would like to be vigilant on my decision making process to make sure I'm getting the best arrangement that would fit my family in the safest and most budget friendly way. Never ever go to this dealership and work with Paul Walsh. I was in town visiting my nephew and he wanted me to go with him as he was looking at a Chevy Tahoe with his family. He called ahead of time and was told that they have the make and varying models in stock and that he should come down and take a look at them. He was greeted by a guy by the name of Paul Walsh last weekend. When I say greeted I use the term lightly. I think Paul does not like people other than his race judging by the body language and innuendos he made regarding our race. Anyways, as we proceeded to look at some of the Tahoes that were in stock Paul would constantly make fun of the way my nephew spoke. He asked what the car would be used for and we said it was for his kid and a newborn on the way. He asked how old the other child was and my nephew said 9. The reason why he needed a tahoe was due to his child being mentally challenged and we needed to have room for a handicap chair to put in the back of the tahoe. Again, Paul didn't seem to like that was the reason for us being there and needing a Tahoe sized car. I don't know if this guy did not like the fact that my nephew had a mentally challenged kid or not but to make fun of that situation is not cool. I'll be speaking with the owner soon regarding this and will be taking my nephew to another dealership. read more

I bought my first car here and what should have been a happy experience has been horrible. I was promised by the dealer that they would repair the fabric lining in the used car that I purchased. Well that was a LIE I dropped it off at the service center for two days and came back excited to see my repaired car only to find that they did absolutely nothing and just had it sit in the lot for two days. But it gets worse. Two hours after purchasing my car the check engine light came on. So not only did the dealer lie to me but he also shut off the check engine light before I drove it. So while they claim to sell you safe and reliable used cars they actually make it seem safe by turning off warning lights and leave you with an unsafe car and over 1000 dollars of repairs. Thanks for teaching me a lesson about buying cars I'll be sure to never go to a Susan auto mall again. read more

I have a Camaro and my wife has a Malibu. I am in the service dept for the third time for the same leaky tire. What was the first thing I was asked about it? "What did we do last time?". He was shocked when I didn't know. Shouldn't they know??? I have had ongoing problems with this service department not checking my tires, fluids, etc when I bring it in. Their responses to my inquiries about the checks not being done are oppositional instead of apologetic. Update! I was just told nothing is wrong even though I put air in the tire weekly. I suggested they look closer. Incompetent. Update! The same service technician (who said all 4 tires were fine) came out and now told me the tire is beyond repair and needed replaced for $260. There are only 25,506 miles on my Camaro and the warrantee will not cover any portion. I'm now at discount tire and will buy the tire from them. It'll likely be less expensive as well. I am buying in the spring, I think I'll look at other brands. read more
