Wow! Extremely pleased with Floyd's. I had an oil change at green and they said my battery was bad but they didn't have mine in stock and didn't have any openings soon. This was unacceptable for me since I work in STL. I started looking around and a family member recommended Floyd's. I called around 11:30 am and they specialize in VW and had my battery. They told me to come after 1 pm. I arrived around 1:05 pm and i was in and out at 1:37 pm. I appreciate a company who is realistic on time and stuck with it. They were very nice too. I have been going to Floyd's since before they moved to the new location. For some reason, I always pick cars that normal garage shops wouldn't touch. My original car with them , not as bad, Pontiac Solstice but preferred to take it there. I now own a Mini Cooper Roadster that isn't made anymore and normal oil change places can't do it so I take it to Floyd's. The last year I had a flat tire, luckily near Floyd's on a weekend, dropped it off without calling because they don't work on the weekends...run flats are a great thing like I said I was only two miles away. But with their busy schedule got it in. Recently, had an issue with my mini, they were honest said they think it is an engine computer issue that they didn't think they could fix. Told me I have to take it to a mini dealership. They were 100% right didn't try to fix the minor stuff or do other things to it to charge me money that wouldn't fix the problem. I feel really bad that it did sit in there lot until a company could pick it up to transport it to STL (closest mini dealership) while their hours are not the most convenient...they truly are the best in this area! The part that I need they would not have been able to get because the Mini dealership told me they have another car exactly like mine that have been waiting on that computer since April! I greatly appreciate the Floyd's and will refer everyone and once I get my mini back from STL, I will continue to go there! read more

A prospective buyer of my car asked me to bring my car to Floyd's for an inspection. Having already had my local mechanic inspect the car, I reluctantly agreed. They found a few things that "would eventually need replaced in 4-6 months," and gave an astronimical estimate that was nearly TWICE what my local reputable mechanic (Mear's in Mattoon) quoted me. And what's worse, when I got back in my car, my check engine light was on! Upon inspection, I found 4 wires under the rear passenger side undercarriage that appeared to have been cut during inspection (perhaps by accident), which appeared to have caused the check engine light to engage. When I challenged the mechanic, and asked questions, he cussed at me and told me to leave. I do not recommend Floyd Imports. read more

I took my Prius to get the A/C fixed since the Toyota dealership tried, charged me and failed! They found the problem immediately and had it fixed within hours. They only charged a third of the price Green Toyota charged and its actually fixed this time. They also went above and beyond I was out in the parking lot check in the oil on my Cadillac burning my fingers on the stick. They came out immediately and checked it for me, went inside, grabbed some oil and topped it off for me free of charge. I was very impressed with their kindness and professionalism. read more

I love my Beetle, but let's face it, it can be a pain in the ass. But unlike the VW dealers I've dealt with, Dave and Eric get me back up and running without all the bullshit and run up bills... which is something that can't be said for most mechanics, especially those that deal with imports. I'm not a mechanic, but I know a fair amount about cars and am willing to do a lot of research. That said, I have familiarized myself with several of the factory and design bred flaws in many modern car models. It is very pleasing to talk to mechanics who not only know their way around multiple makes and models, but make an effort to keep current with known trends regarding wear/tear on said models. Good mechanics can fix major problems; great mechanics will listen to their customers and assist in nipping problems in the bud before they become a real issue and not gouge them on information asymmetries. My experience with Floyd's has been a breath of fresh air. We brought our MINI Cooper to Floyd's for six years before we moved out of state. We always had excellent service. Recently we got notice that under a class action we could recover $500 for the water pump we had installed in 2013, but we had to provide a receipt! Of course, we didn't have it. Had Floyds Imports install four new brake rotors in spring of 2014 for Jaguar XJ8. Was told they put high quality ones on at about 900.00. Within 6 months they warped. They replaced them in Feb, 2015, or so they said. Within 6 more months they were warped again. On 9/2/15 took car in and they said they replaced them under warranty and gave me a receipt saying Replaced Front Rotors under warranty. They tried to say I had warn out bushing arms that was causing it, which did not make sense. I called Peoria Jaguar and Eurosport in Springfield. They both said that was ridiculous. I took car into Eurosport to find out what possibly could be causing the rotors to warp so quickly. They showed me, Floyds had not replaced them at all. They simply resurfaced them and was told there was nothing causing problem except they used cheap rotors originally, and they would warp again soon. I called the owner and he admitted to only resurfacing and had an attitude and said he was done working on my car. Unbelievable! I used to recommend them to people. No more. Stay away from this place!! read more
