Recently, our car began making a grinding/scraping sound coming from the front wheels when turning into a parking lot. We've previously had great service results from Car-X on Linton Ave. for exhaust, brake repairs, and new tires. Made an appointment and got in quickly for service. Diagnosis found front wheel bearings had failed, requiring replacement of front strut assemblies. They also discovered our tire pressure monitors had failed. As we drove into Springfield on vacation, our check engine light started flashing. I called the local dealer first, and they told me they wouldn't be able to even look at our van for several days. I then booked an on-line appointment with the Car-X on E. Linton Avenue for the next morning. I got there about 15 minutes before opening time, and they were already open and started looking at our van right away. The van was completely repaired within 2 hours, and our vacation wasn't interrupted *at all*. They then checked in with us by text a few days later to make sure everything was OK, and we have now made it back home to Virginia without any further issues. We *cannot* recommend Car-X on E. They told me i needed front outer tie rod ends but wanted to charge over 1000 bucks. I called around to get other quotes and when i took it into Firestone i was told i didnt even need them. Let alone the price Firestone quoted me was half of what Car x did. I won't ever trust them again. read more

The worst people to deal with.i had 1 tire that needed a valve stem on my Mercedes benz e350. I spoke with wayne and he said they could fix it.talked me into 4 new tires.no problem.i paid in full and when I picked my car up.lights were on my dash.tire sensor light wont go off.then I go to put air into the tire cause it was low.dont know why since I had got 4 new tires.the valve stem inside shot off.like they didn't install it properly. My review is for the overall facility and service advisor. Great place, the waiting area was clean. Nice tv, reading materials. Coffee was alright, and there was a vending machine if you're into that. I was greeted promptly when I came in. Check in took less than 30 seconds because I had an online appointment. Appointments are crazy easy to set online. The service took a little less time than it should have. They were quick, price was very good, and they are great about accepting and providing coupons, which is hard to find in this industry. It was raining, and they pulled the car right up to the door so I wouldn't have to get wet. A small gesture which was greatly appreciated. Thank you. The only thing that was amiss was the inspection. The inspection had simply been whipped through by the tech without actually checking the components. This is something that can be improved, and is only a minor thing when compared against the overall package. OVERALL Great prices, fast service, they go the extra mile for you and are very pleasent people. I was on a road trip, needed to have a "sound" coming from the front suspension looked at or otherwise I was going to stress myself out on the road worrying about it. Called around, no one was willing to help me. Everyone was booked up 2-3 weeks out. I reached out the Car-X and they were more than willing to take a look at my vehicle. All that was needed was a minor fix and I was out the door. Besides being absolutely accommodating and professional, they also went above and beyond to fill me in on what exactly was wrong and what to watch out for as my road trip continued. I have always found CarX to be honest and trustworthy. Always very accommodating, they once squeezed me in when I didn't have an appointment and my check engine light came on (the thermostat was stuck open) and this was when I was a new customer. They also accepted a coupon I had, even though it was for the shop on Jefferson (despite being part of the same corporation, the shop on Linton is a family-owned franchise, while the one on Jefferson is corporate.) They don't try to rope you into additional "needed" repairs, either. Plus, they take the time to explain what the problem was and what they did to fix it. Bonus--their waiting room is always clean and orderly, with a nice tv, coffee, and a soda machine. I'll always drive out of my way to get to CarX...it's worth it! read more

Just salt of the earth good guys - they know how to treat a customer well. I'll always go back. For cheap and/or expensive problems, they've got this customer for life, because they treat me like I want to be treated.
