Wow, and not the good kind. My Dad has bought here (Bob Ridings/Taylorville) for decades. He is now approaching 90 years old. He had a accident New Years Eve because they mis-diagnosed his Lincoln Aviator and the brakes failed again (3rd time - 3rd resulting fender-bender). They still say the car is fine. I was with him for accident 2. The car is not fine. Someone could be killed. Now he is afraid to drive the car. I am too. We are headed over there again today. The car sales to him seem to go fine. I needed a used car that wasn't too used and wanted a specific car. I sent a internet request for a few cars and was contacted by John Stadler at Bob Ridings Ford in Taylorville. He sent me some info on the cars I was looking at but the one I liked actually sold the previous day. So he looked at his inventory and other Bob Tidings inventory and found one he thought I would like. He sent me the info and asked if I wanted to come take a look at it. He had someone from his store travel to another city and pick the car up and bring it to Taylorville. I met with him that evening and drove the car and ended up purchasing it. John was super helpful and was so refreshing to work with. He is definitely NOT your typical car salesman that you dread going to see when looking for a used car. Nothing about my experience was bad. I live in Springfield but I will drive to Taylorville from now on to buy a new or used car and get work done on my car because my experience was so good. I cannot recommend them and John enough. Worst service department I've ever been to I went there to have them check a block heater as required they said to be sure it's bad they checked it it was bad then told me the only way to get the part is to let them put it on so instead of saying you'll have to pay for the part now and bring back the bad part for a refund I had to buy the part with no resolution I never intended on them doing the work and I told them that so what good is the 2year warranty if they won't honor it. read more

My wife goes to school in the mornings and comes back in the afternoons. She is a full time student and goes 5 days a week so it is important to us that things get done right the first time because we are so limited in how much free time we get. We are also limited in how many cars we have, so when one is not usable it makes a profound impact on our productivity. So when there was a knock in her transmission and we took advantage of the offer outlined in the Class Action Lawsuit (http://fordpowershiftlawsuit.com/) to have it fixed. We also told them there was occasional trouble with the door latches. We expected one appointment with a few hours of downtime. Boy were we wrong! First, they scheduled us an appointment two weeks out. Not actually an unexpected or bad thing. But when my wife got there they did a service on her door latches only. Once she was informed that this few hours had been wasted on something that was not a pertinent problem while the initial reason for the visit was ignored she asked why the transmission had not been addressed. She was told that the parts had not come in yet. So they did something else to waste time because they didn't want to tell us they had not been prepared for our appointment. So we made another appointment. Another two weeks out. So we wait another two weeks, hoping this was a fluke. Bob Ridings had been pretty good to my wife and her family up until that point. The next appointment came and went, transmission fixed. No more knocking. Except when she went to drive it off the lot she found that the power windows and ac no longer functioned. She went back in and told them the problems and the mechanics proceeded to tell her that the transmission and the power windows and AC are different systems and that they had done nothing wrong. She told them that both of those things were working fine when she had come in and that perhaps there was an accident. She even suggested checking the fuses since she had seen that the clock on the dashboard had been reset. She was met with condescension and one of these assclowns told her "sorry, that's not how cars work miss" and then sent her away. Needless to say I was awash with unfathomable near homicidal rage when my wife came home and told me this. I called them up and was first met with the service department saying that mechanics would not speak with me. I told them I would not get off the phone unless hung up on and would call endlessly until I was given the time of day I demanded. Once I did talk to someone they went through the same bullshit, except this time when they said, "sorry, that's not how cars work" I exploded. Upon this explosion, the attitude changed pretty quick, but I was still given a bullshit runaround. Now we find ourselves waiting another week for another appointment, hopefully the last we ever have with these pieces of shit. My father-in-law is fuming about it just as much as I am. In the meantime my wife makes the 45 minute drive between home and school each morning and afternoon with windows up and no AC, drenched in sweat and miserable. Thanks Bob Ridings, your people can rot in Hell. If this dealership were a child I'd beat it and put it up for adoption. read more

Hello! I just wanted to make everyone I can aware of the treatment I received at Bob Ridings Taylorville Il. I special.ordered a gt500 in August. I left a deposit on said car. Car was delivered from Ford to Bob Ridings taylorville. Granted the salesman would not prepare me a buyers order while we were waiting months for the cars delivery but took my deposit. Car was delivered last week and long story short I received a text telling me my car had been sold to someone else. It is currently on their showroom with a sold sign and supposedly being delivered Monday. RON PRITCHARD IS a dirty dog along with Russ Hanks and Geoff Sarginson. They advertised my car on facebook.the day after it was delivered so they could get more money from someone else. I was told I was being sold the car at msrp.for the 2 months we waited on it while.beinf built. They changed the numbers once it got there and when we questioned it Russ Hanks told us were lying. So on top.of.being swindled out of a car that came from Ford with my husband's name on it were called liars. I went in the store and was ignored by everyone except the 1 very nice black guy, Daryl that works there. Eveeyone else evacuated the showroom because I guess word had got around about how they stole from me and no one wanted to confront it. Ron went to the back where my salesman was hiding and tried to get their stories straight before talking to me. Very sad that this store would treat customer and fellow business owners in their community like this. No.one has reached out to make this situation make sense to me so I guess I should go.public with the news maybe someone will care then. read more

Finally!!! Bob Ridings came to his senses and listened to people. You can now make appts for oil changes during the week instead of getting in line and waiting 3-4 hours in their waiting room for a 20 minute oil change. We've traded several cars & trucks over the years with Arshad and Geoff. I feel we've always been traded fairly. Before coming here we bought and tried to trade for 40 years from dealers all over Springfield and Taylorville. We always felt we were dealing with the stereotypical "used car salesmen". Not so with Arshad and Geoff. We feel like they treat us as friends. When we ask for a price they know we only want their best price or we go elsewhere. They make trading painless. We've dealt with the Springfield Ford dealer before. Never again. We caught the salesman leaving his cell phone on and left at our table so he could overhear us talking after he left us alone. Very high pressure salesmen and they try the add on stunts that give used car salesmen a bad name. We'll never return to Springfield Ford. So with all those good comments why the 1 star rating. It's due to their service policy. Every time they've worked on one of ours it's been done right. So why the 1 star? Simple - Wait time. And wait and wait some more. 3 trips in to get an oil change. Each time 2-3 hour wait just until they can get to it. Their oil change then takes another hour. Make an appt you think? No so. They only do appts on Saturdays. The other days of the week you just have to wait. Doesn't do any good to complain to anyone in the building. Same answer from everyone. It's Mr Ridings decision. Then do this - ask Mr Ridings if he wastes 1/2 a day sitting in a waiting room for a 20 minute oil change. Bet he wouldnt stand for even 1/2 that time. They use to take appts and service was quick. Not since they went to their "sit on your butt and wait" policy. Bob Ridings (the owner) has forgotten that it's service after the sales that sells cars. And the service that gets performed the most is an oil change. Or maybe people should do as your shop foreman suggested and take their cars to Larry's for an oil change. If they're going to do that then maybe they should take that suggestion one step further and buy their car some place else too. Remember Bob that you're not the only car dealership in town. If you want to keep the customers then listen to them. When you get to the point that you think you're the only guy who knows then you're a businessman on his way down. I would never recommend this place. I had an appointment to meet with a manager to discuss selling my "Like new" car. I was told to come between 5:30-6pm. After driving 45 minuets this was my experience... Issue 1: They did not know I was coming. No fault to the gentleman I was supposed to meet with as his son was getting married. I totally understand and respect that. What behooved me was, the gentleman at the front desk was playing solitaire on his phone and his demeanor was as if my presence was a bother to him. Apparently nobody there knew I was coming. He walks back and forth to this guys office with glass windows where 2 other sales employees are. He comes back out where we have Issue 2: he sits me in a waiting room for no more than 5 minuets and then has me write my contact information down on a notepad. He test drove my car within those 5 minuets I was there and sent me on my way. I have never felt less appreciated in my entire life. His attitude was disgusting as a sales professional. I have been in sales for 4 years now and I am Continually trained on how important our clients are. I felt like a bourdon. I will never recommend this place. I ended up selling my like new Chrysler 300 to Green Hyundai in Springfield for next to nothing and I bought a car from them. They rolled out the red carpet for me and made me feel like I was important and appealed to all to my requests with no hesitation. This place needs to have have training on how to treat clients. Just because I'm 23 doesn't mean I'm not important or don't have money. If you're waning a new car and a tremendous experience, go to Green Hyundai. You won't regret it! read more

Hey Bob ridings dealership around good price service team is always excellent Top Notch I would go back every time

My major gripe here is with their service department and how they went through(or didn't) go through a truck I bought there and then the sales department management for not standing behind it. I live 14hrs from the dealership and was gonna fly out and drive it back, trusting a Ford dealership went through it, I ended up paying to have it shipped to me instead. The truck went through their service department, they supposedly serviced it and check it over. Upon receiving the truck it wasn't even driveable it needed several thousand dollars worth of repairs to even get through state inspection! Brake pad down to bare metal, cracked front brake rotor, ABS light on, rear wheel seal leaking, transmission line leaking and transmission drain pan gasket leaking so bad the tranny oil wasn't even registering on the dip stick! Oil pain rusted so bad I couldn't park it in my driveway cause of all the oil it was leaking. They said it was fine and were gonna let me drive it 14hrs home! I wouldn't have made it 20min down the road. They won't reimburse me and now won't even return my calls. Now here we are 4 months later and I still can't drive the truck and make money with it cause it needs additional repairs that I can't afford at the present time. I feel like I bought this $26k dollar truck from some scammer buy here pay here kind of dealership. You work hard for your money, do yourself a favor and spend it at Ford dealership that will at least stand behind the products they sell. read more
