Completely disgusted. On 05/07/2021, S&B Amusements came out to my house in order to diagnose a repair on a Williams Sorcerer Pinball Machine. I was charged for both the diagnosis and the repair; the repair required the removal of the control board. As of today, 09/20/2021, several texts and emails have not been answered in response to the repairs. I have been ghosted and ripped off apparently. To add insult to injury, the machine in question is useless without the control board which was removed by S&B Amusements. I picked up a 60s Rockola last year. It wasn't working, so I scored it for super cheap. Once I realized after basic troubleshooting that it was going to be too difficult for me to do I began looking for a repair company. I tried enlisting another company first but they never answered their phone or email. This wasn't the case once I got in touch with S&B. Well, my family owns one of the last electromechanical pinball machines ever made. It's a classic. It's also cantankerous and can be finicky. When it quits working, it seems to have all sorts of hang ups all at once. Enter Steve and the guys at S & B Amusements. First, they make housecalls. Second, they are about the only folks that will (or at least should) work on the EM pin ball machines. Third, they get to the bottom of the issues like it's nobody's business. All the while keeping up a banter of tips, advice & suggestions, and gritty good humor! You can see the experience as they methodically analyse the symptoms of the patient, and rapidly break her open and set to work. Typically the "major malfunction" is resolved in 10-15 minutes and the rest of the time is spent lovingly tweaking and cleaning and beautifying our baby. I know there is love there, but I'm not jealous. Especially since I know they won't be seeing each other for another year or so and the tech leaves the keys to her heart with me. I have used S&B on 4 separate occassions since first acquiring some games back in 2007. Everytime Steve and his team never disappoint by assessing and fixing the issue with a friendly attitude and explain it to me as they go in terms that even I can understand. S&B told me the particular type of machine I had was notorious for breaking down, and that the repair would likely be as much as I paid for it, and that I should return the machine instead of trying to repair it. I was just so impressed with his honesty on the phone, I vowed that if I ever buy a juke (I've lusted after one for years), it will be with this company. I had an old Gottlieb Bronco Electromechanical pinball game that was given to me a number of years ago, which only worked partially at the time. You could only use the one player mode and even then certain functions did not work as expected. Well about 3 months ago the machine stopped working completely and so I was considering either selling it as is or finding someone local that might be able to bring it back to life. I was fortunate to find S&B Amusements. Steve, the owner, agreed to make a house call to understand the situation and promptly came out to my home. After about an hour he indicated that the machine was a good platform, but in order to do the work properly he needed to have it moved to his shop so he could thoroughly check things out. He quoted me a price to repair the machine and within the next 24 hours his crew was here to pick it up. About 3 weeks later I received a call from Steve indicating the the machine was just about done and was ready to return it to me. We scheduled a delivery for a few days later and he and his son delivered and set the machine up for me and also trained me on the "to dos" and "what not to dos" of old EM pinball machines. In summary these guys are awesome!! Steve knows his stuff, is straight forward with the customer, and tells it like it is. He delivered as promised and guarantees his work. After deciding I no longer needed a formal dining room (yes, a divorce will do that), I decided to get a single coin-op type video game (mid-life crisis?). I found S&B while searching online, and paid a visit to his shop. There I found a paradise of old video game cabinets and parts and peices (love that kind of stuff). I ordered a Stargate cabinet with a 60-in-1 game board conversion. Even having the extra button added didn't take long, and soon after I had my first game cabinet it what was to become my new ganeroom. Fast forward nearly five years, and now I have two video game cabinets, an Air hockey table, (some of my own decorations and lighting effects), and the old boring dining room is now the life of any party I have. Steve (and Steve) have been great to deal with, and while it's not the absolute cheapest hobby a guy can have, it's not nearly as budget-crushing as I first thought it would be. Steve from S&B came to my house today to work on my pinball which had no working lights for a very long time. When I had first called him he asked questions to see if there was a way that I could just fix it by myself (for free) but he eventually determined that he would need to come to my home. When he arrived he mentioned that he had done some research before coming and it showed because it only took him about 20 minutes to fix the problem that I had been dealing with for a couple years. Although it would have been perfectly acceptable for him to stop after fixing the issue and take the agreed upon minimum charge he continued working on the machine for the full hour replacing bulbs and making adjustments. In the end I was charged exactly what he said when I made the appointment but received much more. If you have an issue with a pinball I would highly recommend S&B Amusements.
