I ordered the prime rib as they have a Wednesday night special. I was really looking forward to a quality cut of beef as they consider this to be the restaurants signature dish. I asked for medium-rare and I was served extremely well done. The waitress was kind enough to take it back only for her return to tell me they only had well done left. Wouldn't it have been easier just to tell me that They didn't have medium rare then attempt to pass off extremely tough, well done prime rib? Not cool. Instead of making a scene at the restaurant I decided to call and speak with the waitress and her response basically was oh well, try us again next time. There will not be a next time. read more

Kennebunkport overall is a very sleepy town. There are few places open past 10pm, let alone past midnight. This is due to the average age of the patrons of this little village being about 58 years old. Go into most bars and restaurants in the area and you'll probably see a lot people that look like your grandparents. Your grandfather left your grandmother to her knitting and went out to Ryan's Corner and shut the place down. At least that's what we found when we went there one Thursday night. Lot's of older dudes who had one too many Guinness and were either a) actually Irish or b) pretending to talk in Irish accents. Either way it was hilarious. We had a nice lunch at Ryan's today. Our server, Abby, was friendly and didn't forget a thing. The kitchen seemed a bit slow but everything was delicious and worth the wait. The only surprise to me was the lack of corned beef on the menu, but I'm not complaining. Speed up the kitchen a bit and Ryan's would be perfect, but if the slowness is a deliberate attempt to create a relaxed atmosphere, don't change a thing. read more

I have to say, this was the worst service I think I've ever received in a restaurant. I'm trying to think of a time that may have topped this, and unfortunately I just can't. Believe it or not, the waitress we had was very sweet and I felt horribly because she was very overwhelmed, as she was just helping out for the day with no prior waitress experience (from my understanding). I was with my family, and we each got two rounds of drinks with a basket of onion rings. The first round wasn't too long of a wait (about 10 minutes), but the second round took about 25 minutes to receive all beverages for the three of us. We ordered the basket of onion rings with the first drink order and waited over an hour... We continued thinking it must be coming out any minute. When the second round of drinks came out, mine was still missing, but came out another 10 minutes after the first two. I got a hot coffee with Kahlua and when I tried it, it tasted like plain coffee. I had my mother try it to confirm, and she agreed. That's when I went inside to inform the bartender. She looked at me and asked me what I wanted her to do about it. I was a little shocked, but I told her maybe she could add some Kahlua? That's when the other bartender walked up, took a giant sip of my coffee, and handed it back to me with a look on her face as though it was she strongest drink she had ever had. I was honestly so embarrassed (everyone was looking at us) and surprised she would A. take my drink from my hands and sip it and B. hand it back to me after taking a giant gulp. It was so unprofessional, and just so incredibly mean. Stunned, she looked at me and told me she would pour some Kahlua in it. I told her there was no need if there was already some in it (although there truly wasn't any that I could taste), but she insisted. She pulled my hand towards her and poured a half an ounce of Kahlua in the coffee. It was very busy, so I understand why she may have felt overwhelmed, but to treat any person like that, let alone your own customer (I believe she was the owner), is absolutely horrible. I have worked in the service industry in my younger years, and I just can't imagine doing that to a person. I brought the coffee back to my table without drinking any of it and when I told my family what had happened they were shocked. Of course we left our waitress a generous tip (the problem had nothing to do with her). However, I feel like whenever I walk by Ryan's Corner I will always cringe from the experience I had. read more

I wasn't going to post a review or a complaint because I have worked in this industry for 15 years myself. After talking to others about my experience I think I should Write a complaint. My family and I were here a couple of weeks ago for lunch. We ordered drinks and food. After we put our order in my mom started to not feel well. My husband had to rush her to the hospital, my dad and I stay behind to tell the server we had to go. She apologized and said the food was cooking, my dad and I were in a rush and I asked if we could just cancel the order cuz we had to go . She told us we could not cancel the order at this point my dad and I felt like we were forced to stay so we waited another 15 min for the food . She gave us the food and our bill which was over $100 she charged us for the drinks we didn't drink because we were in a hurry and I was dumbfounded that one we were told we could not cancel the order and two we had to pay a full bill . I have been working in this industry for a long time I myself have been in the same situation when a patron had to rush to the hospital or leave immediately any place I have worked the patron would be told it's ok don't worry about the food , i have never had to give a patron a full bill when there is a family emergency nor have I told them the foods is being prepared and can not be cancelled.... again I was not going to say something but it has really been bothering me . After wasting 35 min waiting for food, not knowing if my mom made it to the hospital ok and then paying a full bill I just think this is wrong to do to someone : I will not be back again read more

Like an earlier reviewer, this charming little spot places a pivotal plot point in my true love story. It might have been a third date when we came to Ryan's, and have seemed to wind up there about once a week since. The space is 'beam'ing with great energy, its low ceilings lending to the pub's cozy welcome. The meals have been outstanding. All of them. The enormous haddock filet in their Fish n' Chips is a champion, with a deceivingly light batter, fried to crisp perfection, and the blue cheese mussels are a recurring special not to be missed if you are a shellfish fan. There are some great dishes going on in here, much more than the expected Irish 'Pub' food, and the owners and staff are ALL warm and welcoming. Love this place! read more

So I was surprised as how slow it was. It got busy as we got our bill. We waited a good half hour 45 min or more for the waitress to come back. Not kid friendly. I would go back and try it again on a warm sunny day so we could sit on the outdoor patio. Finally got around to giving Ryan's a try earlier this year and it lived up to my hopes. Tracy (I hope I've remembered her name correctly - co-owner with her husband.) was charming. Guinness and Smithwick's on tap is always appreciated. I did not try the food. My only quibble, making this a 4-star review and not 5, is that, being there during the off-season, on a Friday afternoon, it was as apparent that I was the only non-regular at the bar. So I actually felt a bit ignored... Honestly, I will return and become a regular in my own way (I am in KPT 3 to 5 times/year.), but going forward I will bring a book to read while I quaff. read more

Waitress was rude--refused to give waters despite eating the food, ignored requests, made a fit about splitting checks, took forever, and raised her voice at my friend. My friend had spilt her drink on accident and the waitress made her pay for it and used the opportunity to make it seem like she would replace the drink without a charge. She proceeded to fight with her when my friend tried to explain that it was an accident and it's common practice to not charge in that situation and she should have been informed that she would be charged as she wouldn't have purchased a replacement.
