Very unprofessional office: My son (19 years old) called…read morethis office and gave them his vision insurance info to confirm that they took his insurance. They told him that he was In Network. After her drove 25 minutes to his appointment, they told him that he was OUT of network. The secretary said "Just pay for the exam and you can call your insurance and figure it out later". He was smart enough to call me first to see if this was appropriate. I asked to speak to the secretary that was talking to him. I heard her say that she was too busy. After another 10 minutes, another woman came to the phone and said that they "usually verify insurance 1-2 days before appointments, but we must have been too busy". I asked them to call the insurance to verify (they had just went on the website initially). 20 minutes later, they told my son that he was out of network, so I told him to cancel the insurance and we would find another optometry center. I called to make him an appointment at SVS. I asked them to verify In network insurance so that this would not happen to my son again. The secretary was very nice and agreed, but she saw that Village Vision Center had not released/cancelled his appointment yet, so she could not access his account/verify that he was due for an eye exam until they released the appointment. I had to call Village Vision back and tell them to release his appointment. The secretary said that they released it "as soon as he cancelled his appointment", which I know is not true as it took me at least 10-15 minutes to call the second optometry office.... Shame on them for NOT actually verifying his insurance when he called to make the appointment AND then trying to get him to pay upfront and imply that the insurance would pay for it if he just called them later!

When I called again, someone walked the message to the Vision office, and I received a call. My glasses had been there for over two weeks. I had not been notified because Vision was calling a phone number I had not had for over five years. No one asked if that number was the correct one to notify me. While the exam was professional, the clerical staff is not up to par. Someone should have updated my information at the time of the exam. No one asked me for phone numbers: not my cell or landline or even my email address for a contact.

The ophthalmologists who work here are compassionate, knowledgeable, and extremely thorough. My wife had a pair of glasses bought from America's Best in Canton MI. The screw fell out of the glasses. My wife was able to find the screw and the lens. When my wife went to America's Best in Canton MI and asked if they could put her glasses back together; my wife was told the glasses were more than a year old and America's Best would not fix the glasses. Thinking that this sounded odd my wife went back a second time several days later to a different person and was told the same thing. They will not fix her pair of glasses because the glasses are over a year old but she could buy a new pair of glasses.

I have written many reviews over the years and my guiding principle is to write something positive…read moreif there is something positive to say otherwise I do not post a review. But as this concerns a matter of personal health and wellness, I'm posting this two star review for this business. I went to this establishment recently (in September 2025) for a routine eye exam and I sure wish I had read the lowest reviews first. One positive: I was seen on time by a Dr. Ayysha but before that, the office manager, did some "intake tests", such as checking pressure in the eyes and also doing, rather ineptly (one eye had to be redone) the retinal imaging. What qualifications she had (besides referring to a chart on the wall of what is the correct position of the eye), I have no idea. Dr. Ayysha performed a very perfunctory exam and appeared in sloppy non-professional (IMO) garb, as if she had just come back from a workout. She was personable, there's another positive. I asked for the retina scan photos to be sent to me in files (which a previous provider had done) and was told by the office manager that she didn't know how to do that and people usually take a photo with their phones. I asked Dr. Ayysha if she could get the scans sent to me and she said that the OM would "try to find out" how to do that. I'll check back in a week if I don't receive anything but I'm not optimistic. Finally, I tried on various frames and before leaving remarked that many of the frames are dirty (meaning, smudged, dusty, etc.). They obviously hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. The not-the-office manager guy just said 'thank you". OK, well then. I won't know if anyone cleaned the frames because I won't be returning to this business for new glasses.

The optometrist Alexa Ayyash was very disrespectful and dismissive of my questions. She seemed to be in great haste to simply hand me a prescription and see me off with minimal effort. Wasn't she getting paid for her job? She acted as if each request or question was a burden to her time. I felt disrespected for every question or request I made. I will now have another exam and have to pay out of pocket for it. I am so extremely disappointed to have wasted a visit with her. There is high degree of unprofessional attitude and lack of respect for clients. I don't recommend anyone to schedule eye exams with Vision works, as there is total lack of respect, understanding and empathy for clients in both certain staff and doctors here. I won't be back for either glasses or exams at this place
