All questions were answered with one syllable words. Finally, with the lack of information, I was still able to choose two pairs of shoes. When the young man came back with the shoes, he dropped both pairs on my seven-year-old grandson's lap and walked away. The lack of customer service and consideration was mind-boggling. We're from California and I've been to many Dick's Sporting Goods, but never have I had the rudeness and disrespect that I experienced at this store. On top of that they had very few choices of soccer shoes for young male children. Needless to say, I won't be back to that location.

Chances are they're going to have what you're looking for, and more than likely in stock. There are other outdoor lifestyle chains out there, but none that measure up to the outdoor/wilderness environment that Cabela's has. From its rustic, natural(ish) décor to the outdoor displays to wildlife exhibits, you really do get that "I feel like I'm out in the woods" vibe. While I've always been a fan of Cabela's, this summer we found that they carry my absolute favorite line of bird seed. I'm a birder and feed 6 to 8 different types of feed in my back year nearly year round, and the fact that they have my favorite brand (Harvest brand bird feeds), but A) in multiple varieties and 2) IN STOCK immediately made this my go-to place when I need bird seed. We used to have to visit 3 or more retail outlets to find what I needed, but not any more. This has got to be one of the largest Cabela's in existence. Seriously. I've been to a number of them but this one just seems ENORMOUS. It's also got an absolutely beautiful 'front door' that can be seen from the expressway nearby. As I wandered around trying to find my bird seed (it literally took me over 10 minutes) I passed a number of staff members helping others and stocking shelves. OH...and an aquarium. There's a freakin' AQUARIUM in this Cabela's. As if the animals and all the outdoor displays aren't enough, they add an aquarium.

Wandering the streets in town and ducking in and out of rain I found this quite the surprising refuge. The shop was staffed by three college kids all having a great time hanging out and cutting up while business was quite slow. I think some visitors may have been put off but they were incredibly friendly and invited me into their convo. They even had free snacks and refreshments laid out on a table for anyone to grab. The store has a generous assortment of outdoor gear and a better cashback/rewards plan than REI. There were lots more unique items to ogle here and I spent a lot of time wondering if I needed a lot of things I'm glad I didn't end up buying. Backpacks, shoes, clothing, etc. About what you'd imagine for this kind of place. But a more fun environment with that "never know what you might find" feel. They seem to hold onto inventory that went out of style years ago. Makes it unique. Prices were high, as they tend to be for branded outdoor goods. I finally settled on an Osprey day-pack. I like to bird watch and saw a cool Wood Ducks in the water, a tree swallow, and a swan! You can also stop by the water (very close to the shore) in the short hike at least 3 times and see some turtles. And there are many chipmunks and some other birds along the path. And there are a lot of people canoeing or kayaking on the water.

Great park for distance running - when I was training for a half marathon, I would come here for anywhere from 3-8 mile runs. I actually typically like parking at the boat launch entrance off Geddes, but there is plenty of parking at the main entrance as well. It's just a little bit of a quieter entrance to the park. Over the last couple of years, they've had some fantastic art displays there as well. Very dog friendly, kid friendly, bike friendly, all of the above! Tends to be one of the busier parks, but for good reason.
