Updating my review that was over years ago. We don't go here enough. Valentine's Day 2026 update. We had the same server and she is still amazing! Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Great lighting, love songs for the special day, and classic interior. Ruth Chris steakhouse in Pittsburgh always provides a superior steakhouse experience. Ask to be seated with Annette - she is fantastic.

When you are craving a real steak you need Ruth but beware while this is a chain you will not get that fake Aussie meal or those claiming to be Texas chains These meals don't come cheap figure 160 for two My daughter and I visited on quiet Thursday right at opening And we had a baby with us From the greeter to the waiter to the manager Service was excellent Everyone friendly Our meal was delicious Our steak perfect on their signature sizzling plate We love the creamed spinach Daughter loves the mashed potatoes Never had to ask for anything service spot on for beverage refill When we have a few extra bucks we will return.

Celebrated a birthday and a coaching win here a few weeks back and the service was impeccable! Annette took great care of us all night! She was so attentive and personable! A true asset to the company! Scott came over to introduce himself as well and checked on us to make sure everything was up to par! Every staff member we were in contact were kind and courteous! Our food was great! Presentation was lovely and the taste knocked it out of the park! One thing that stood out to us and made us feel a bit more relaxed was that it wasn't as quiet as the typical Ruth's Chris are. We've been to our share of RC's and most are quiet and uptight! But this one was filled with love and laughter! It felt good to be able to enjoy a great meal, talk and giggle, and not be afraid to do so! The acknowledgment on the dessert dish really made the night!! Can't wait to return!!

We had a private event at Ruth's Chris tonight. The room we were in was pretty spacious and it was a presentation set up with everyone sitting on either side of one long table. The set up made me crane my neck a little which wasn't my favorite. Our staff was super nice and accommodating. I had to leave a little early and requested ahead of time that my dessert be boxed up around 7:30pm which they remembered! We got stuffed mushrooms for appetizers and they were good. I like that their bread comes out warm although the butter they gave us was very cold and solid. This steakhouse's signature trademark is their steaks coming out on super hot plates sizzling in butter. My ribeye was a good size and had good flavor. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes. The broccoli was bland but I'm okay with it because I'll just pop my leftover broccoli in the air fryer at home. I haven't had a chance to try the chocolate cake yet but it looks really good!

Ruth's Chris has always been a favorite of mine. Went here last night to catch up with some friends. We got a lot of menu items so I'll try to keep this brief. For appetizers, we tried the crab stuff mushrooms, spicy shrimp, and calamari. All were delicious. Was a big fan of the crab stuffed mushrooms and spicy shrimp. Also got cocktails and a bottle of wine for the table. My old fashioned was pretty average. Slightly disappointing for such a nice restaurant. Bottle of wine was great. For my entree, had to go with a ribeye of course. Steak was great as always. Delicious. They sure know how to make a good steak. Side dishes consisted of lobster mac, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts. All were tasty, but the lobster mac and cheese was the star of the show. Huge pieces of lobster meat. 10/10. Dessert was a slice of their chocolate sin cake. Wouldn't necessarily call this "cake"... more like a slice of fudge/mousse. Whatever it was, it tasted good. Overall, it's hard to be disappointed with anything when dining with Ruth's Chris. Service is amazing. Food is superb. Can't wait to come back for more

I went in with such low expectations because of my experience at other Pittsburgh chain steakhouses. Boy was I wrong and absolutely shocked. The food here was phenomenal. Exceptional food, nice atmosphere, impeccable service. I could rave about this place for days!! Everything about our meal was perfect. Steak was prepared perfectly, sides were great, fantastic caesar salad, gigantic shrimp in the shrimp cocktail- everything was worth every penny! If you're on the fence about going- you need to go, you will not be disappointed

My husband and I had a night out at Ruth's Chris and had a lovely evening! Service: 6/5! Every single person on staff was incredible. The host, servers, food runners, those filling up water glasses, everyone! Ambiance & atmosphere: 3/5. The decor was lacking.. looked like a hotel restaurant inside. The tables were SO close together. We could hear the conversions of everyone beside us. It was not a romantic/ intimate setting at all. Appetizers: 6/5. We splurged for the small seafood tower and the crab cakes. The crab cakes were literally the best I've ever had. You MUST order them!!! Entrees: 3/5!! We both got steak... because it's a steak house... and we're both so underwhelmed with our steaks. Were they good? Sure. Were they worth steakhouse prices? Nope. My husband orders a ribeye everywhere he goes, and this was not his favorite. Wasn't even in his top 5. Same with me and my love for filet mignon. Mine came with a lobster tail and I enjoyed it much more than the steak. Sides: 6/5: the potatoes au gratin will rock your world Desserts: 100/5!!! I am still thinking about that chocolate sun cake!! I've never had anything like it! Get it with a scoop of vanilla, and your life will be complete! It paired beautifully with an espresso martini!

Ruth's Chris is what you would expect from a primer steakhouse, with excellent service, a meat focused menu, and extensive wine list. For tonight's dinner we shared the shrimp and steak entree, and started with martinis. The food and service were excellent, as expected. What more can you say?

My family and I decided to come to Ruth's Chris for Restaurant Week this year and it was fantastic. We made a reservation prior for 8 people and our table was ready for us before we arrived so we could immediately sit. Our waitress was great, she did a great job of accommodating our party without any issues and even gave us recommendations on the food since a few of us had questions. The complimentary bread and the opening Caesar salads were delightful. I ordered the 16oz pork chop and it was stellar, great taste and juicy. The strawberry cheesecake dessert was the perfect end to a great evening. Everyone in my party had a terrific visit and I would recommend coming to Ruth Chris for restaurant week because the deals are great along with a first class experience.

Such a great, actually my favorite steak house in pittsburgh! they have a fantastic menu. I always opt for the option where you get a salad or soup, steak, a side, and a dessert all included in one price. It's a steal and it's delicious! It's honestly the only steak house that offers this. I try other things off the menu but keep going back to the selected items. I always get the Caesar to start and it's delicious. Then my side is the creamed spinach, I didn't think i would love it but I LOVE it (only from here). I get the filet with shrimp the season on the shrimp is phenomenal and for dessert the cheesecake. I personally love sitting at the bar. It's a nice view of the ppg ice skating rink. Around the holidays it has the perfect view of the tree. The drinks are always good and the staff is always so friendly!

As a steakhouse, Ruth Chris upholds its promise to deliver melt-in-your-mouth and well seasoned steaks. We have been on a steakhouse journey throughout Pittsburgh and this place is up there as one of our favorites. Service was very attentive and always checking in on us. To start, we shared crab cakes and Ruth Chris salad which were already winners. The steaks, both filets, were done to our liking and stayed warm until the last bite. As a side, we opted for sautéed spinach with garlic which paired really well with the steaks. We were full but decided to round out our meals with desserts - so we each got the cheesecake and chocolate sinful cake. While they were delectable, we wished that we shared since they were both so luxurious. We made sure not to leave any crumbs on the plate. For me, Ruth Chris brought the ambience, the service and a great meal all-in-one. Tip: get your parking validated not only for the duration of your time spent at the restaurant but the rest of the night!

This was my first time here and I brought my guy for his bday. We had reservations and it was a fairly empty Sunday, we were seated right away. He ordered the strip steak and mashed potatoes. I ordered the asparagus + petite filet and shrimp. My steak was perfectly cooked rare (see photo) and soooo tender, to die for. We also had the shrimp appetizer pictured but I don't remember what it was called. They brought a personal size cheesecake with happy birthday written on it which was so nice of them. We had cocktails and old fashion drinks, old fashion was made well and strong however cocktails weren't worth it. Paid $15/five sips of cocktail which was basically koolaid to me. All and all we know this is more of a special occasion place and the quality is worth the price of the steaks, fresh meaty shrimp. I like the dim lit atmosphere a lot. My only con is that I didn't find the staff very friendly or really having people skills so that stuck out for me. The staff being a little more social would be great as they just seemed like robots.

Ask the Community - Ruths Chris Steak House

Dining in on Sunday to celebrate my anniversary. What is best parking location?

Thank you for your interest Susan. We offer free parking in the PPG Parking garage. The garage is located on the left side of 3rd Avenue. Third Avenue is a one way street going towards the point. You will see a square blue and white lit sign…

Does this particular location have happy hour?

They do. I believe a photo of their happy hour menu is posted on yelp. If not maybe restaurants website for the Pittsburgh location shows it. But they do in fact have a pretty good one in terms of food and drink choices and pricing

Where do I find the prices?

Prices listed on the in-store menu

Does this Ruths Chris location permit diners to bring their own wine, and if so, what is the corkage fee?

Thank you for your inquiry John. We have a corkage fee of $25.00.

Upon entering the restaurant, there are crystal chandeliers, bright colors, French posters, and a lively atmosphere. The restaurant had a lot of potential until we experienced the service and cuisine. I brought my Supper Club here, and we had a group of 8 of us. There was also a very large group at the restaurant. We were neglected on several occasions, and it took us 2 HOURS just to get our food order. That's not an exaggeration. Our waitress was rather snippy with us, and ended up apologizing at the end but it did make for an unpleasant experience. When we finally received our bread, we were so hungry that we scarfed it down despite it being not so great sour dough bread. Every dish was flavorless and left us wanting more. I had to send back the steak on two occasions: once for being undercooked and once for being overcooked. I ended up getting my meal for free. The Coquilles St. Jacques had the smallest scallops without the lovely scallop shell its usually served in. The shrimp cocktail tasted like anything you could get at the grocery store. The Nicoise Salad was just sad and flavorless. The porkchop and escargot had the most flavor. I will definitely not be back to this establishment. Our group did enjoy each other's company, and it created a very memorable experience even though it was an overall bad experience!

The seating hostess looked too casual in her jeans. The experience got better. The room contained only 16 seats so was quiet. Throughout our dinner, our waitress provided timely and friendly service. Our appetizer was Bone Marrow, which tasted very rich with toast. For the main course, my husband's 12-ounce Queen Cut Prime Rib was juicy and flavorful, especially with the accompanying horseradish, beef au jus, and Yorkshire pudding. He called the prime rib a "dinosaur of a steak," and he had leftovers to take home. My special of Lobster Thermidor was fewer ounces but was also very flavorful. We also enjoyed our sides of Truffle Fries and Creamed Spinach. For dessert the Baked Alaska was a show for both our eyeballs (tall flames of fire!) and tastebuds. We did not order any alcohol. It's cute but crowded with plush seating. I can't imagine being here on a busy night, it must feel like there's no breathing room. Service was fine. Our order was correct and servers were friendly. The best part about this place is the cocktails but don't expect them to be strong. My drink was absolutely delicious but with the mood effects of a mocktail, meaning nothing. I ordered two because why is this almost $20 with no buzz in sight, are we not a lounge? The menu was plentiful though I think the chef may be a little off about the origins of some of the menu items- just be Greek, friend, it'll be okay. I didn't try the pizza, which is almost half of the menu because I wasn't impressed by the small plates. How can you get pickled cauliflower wrong in Pittsburgh. That should be a sin. The hummus was okay but could use a little more ancient influence... like maybe 4,000 years worth, idk. Overall, I wouldn't be back and wouldn't recommend. It's trendy in it's ambience but doesn't deliver anything better than 25 other spots along the same street. AVVA in Aspinwall is a better option. I came here based on reviews by Elite's and this place was incredibly misrepresented.

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good.
