It was raining and I was in the hotel that's attached. I ordered the fix prix dinner. Upgraded to the rib eye and added the scalloped potatoes. Everything was very good. The bartender Andrea was excellent. They have some very inventive cocktails. I couldn't finish everything that came with dinner. The steak was very good. The scalloped potatoes were tasty. The French onion soup was cheese heavy, some may like it that way. The spinach was meh. The meal came with dessert which was a mini cheesecake. Very nice with some fruit. The coffee was okay, slightly bitter. Perhaps they get it from Starbucks.

Ruth Chris can be hit or miss. For a restaurant chain they represent inconsistency for me. This location however, got it right. The service was warm and welcoming and never felt rushed even after staying up to 30mins after paying our bill. The food was tasty but I'm accustom to having my Old Fashion with a lemon peel, one ice and not sugary sweet...really 4.5 stars but the service made it a 5.

It has been awhile since I've posted, but the restaurant is keeping up with my 5-star review in the past! Hilary and Peter, please never ever leave because my four-year-old daughter will never go back if you're not there! Not only is the food always delicious here, but you both make the experience so much better!! The quality of the food never differs and is always excellent. My go-to order is the bone-in filet with the sweet potatoe casserole on the side. Rare.

Chas and I were able to meet up at this Ruth's Chris location in Parsippany, New Jersey last week. This was not his first time visiting a Ruth's Chris but it was my first time. I was cautiously optimistic. I will start by saying that I have had a lot of great steaks in a lot of great steakhouses around the country...but oftentimes find I can make one just as good at home. We started with some adult beverages. Chas decided to get an Old Fashioned so I figured I'd get a Manhattan to check them against each other. I am normally a bigger fan of an Old Fashioned but this Manhattan was definitely better. Pro Tip - If you prefer an Old Fashioned, the bar inside the hotel just past the restaurant made a good one. I personally did not order any appetizers but I did try a couple from around the table. Chas got the Ruth's chopped salad and Val got the Lobster Bisque. The salad was unique and looks like it was built inside a ring. The flavors were good, nothing insane, but good. The Lobster Bisque was velvety and had a solid lobster flavor. I personally would not pay the cost for these items, but that's not to say they were bad in any way at all. Samantha and I split the Porterhouse for Two and for the table we had fried potatoes and grilled asparagus. The steak was cooked exactly to medium rare as requested and as expected from this company, was covered in butter. Great flavor to the steak, you can absolutely tell that it is a quality sourced piece of meat. The grilled asparagus was pretty standard honestly. It was good, but nothing I'd spend much time elaborating on. I then had a "Ruth's Coffee" for dessert. This had - Frangelico, Bailey's Irish cream, brandy, fresh brewed coffee, whipped cream, and drizzled chocolate. This was similar to the "Cappuccino Bern's Steakhouse" from Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa, Florida. Very good drink, I'd definitely order that again. You pay for your meal here, that's for sure. No way around spending a lot of money when you come here, but if the food and drinks are worth it...then it's worth it. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse - Didn't Suck!

    GARLIC CRUSTED SEA BASS
    Nicole F.

We visited Ruth Chris Steakhouse for Thanksgiving and were extremely disappointed at how mediocre the food was at the huge price point. The calamari which was recommended to our table was oily and falling apart, a dull blend of cheap sweet and sour sauce and fried calamari separating at each bite. Each of our entrees were flavorless, especially my sea bass, was shockingly unseasoned and bland that for $40 I expected at least some salt and pepper and satisfaction. The only dish I found my self happy at was the pumpkin cheesecake which was frozen and basic. Service was normal. Ambiance fine, closeness to other tables but fine. Needless to say I regret dining here and will not be returning.

    Happy hour menu

The Filet and Shrimp was great for happy hour price. It includes a glass of wine. I added the garlic mashed potatoes and those were good too. If you come here, order the cheesecake. That was fire. Overall, the food was good. The lounge area is pretty chill. I just wish the service was a little better. I kept having to wait to get my order in. I would recommend this place regardless.

Went here for dinner for my birthday. The service by Garrett was exemplary. The ambiance is standard for a steakhouse and Ruth's Chris is a high end chain restaurant which is more than fine. The Food was outstanding. I was not in love with the steak and have had better. The au gratin potatoes were delicious and the wine paired well. Strongly recommend THIS location. Ask for Garrett.

The girls and I got together for a friend's birthday dinner. The reservations were for 7:30pm. When I arrived I parked in the hotel parking lot. The restaurant is located inside the hotel. I walked in and the hostess walked me to the private room and there was about 11 of us. Our waitress was cool, I forgot her name though. We all ordered appetizers and meals. For myself I got the crab cake appetizer with a side of mashed potatoes. While I waited for that I had their bread which wasn't so good. I also tried the bbq shrimp appetizer and that was pretty good, just didn't taste like bbq. My crab cakes came out in a sizzling hot plate along with a big serving of mashed potatoes. This was more than enough for me. The crab cakes were very good and the mashed potatoes were good as well. The girls enjoyed their meals. The bill was a little over $40 for me. We all enjoyed ourselves.

Ask the Community - Ruth's Chris Steak House

What are prices like? Wish I could see on the menu but wanted to get an idea

If you are drinking wine and planning individual appetizers and dessert it can run $150-$200 per person

What is the average prices for steak?

    In NJ around $65

Do they still offer a smaller fixed price menu? They had it around Valentine's Day so not sure if it was just for that.

Yes! They do offer the smaller fixed price menu. It's standard. You can either order from that or go a la carte.

An appetizer order comes with three small slider style rolls. For mains we shared the chicken parm and veggie ravioli. The chicken parm was an absolute show stopper. They do that thing where they come to the table with a hot pan of cheesy sauce and pour it over the cutlet. It tasted even better than it looked, and I love that this came paired with paccheri pasta. The spring ravioli is a nice and light dish and came with lots of fresh veggies. Love the vibes on the patio and an aperol spritz was the perfect drink to enjoy outside on a nice day. The space on the first floor is divided into a lively bar area with plenty of TVs and a slightly quieter main dining room with comfortable booths and tables. There is also seating on an outdoor terrace on the second floor and a few tables in front of the restaurant on South Street if you're up for dining al fresco. It's a terrific option in Morristown that's sophisticated enough for a date on the outdoor terrace when the weather cooperates or a pre-theater meal in the dining room, yet casual enough for beers and appetizers while watching a game in the bar area. The menu captures the essence of modern American comfort food. Whether you're grabbing the Stirling Burger ($18) -- made from a tasty short rib and brisket blend -- or splurging on the Grilled New York Strip ($48) topped with crabmeat fries, the quality is evident. They are also great with dietary restrictions. Between the various poultry, fish, and vegetarian options on the menu and the kitchen's willingness to make moderate accommodations in any other dish, there's something for everyone. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the service. We recently celebrated my niece's 21st birthday here, and our server made it memorable by honoring her milestone birthday by playfully asking for her ID EVERY SINGLE TIME she ordered a drink. It became a running joke for the night and made the occasion feel extra special. The only reason it's not a full 5 stars for me is that both sides of the main floor can get pretty loud when it's packed and the prices are a bit on the higher side for casual dining. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: Stirling Tavern offers a Happy Hour Monday through Friday between 3pm and 6pm, which features specials on certain cocktails, wines, beers, and light snacks. You must be seated at the bar to take advantage of the promotional pricing. If you enjoy a good Old Fashioned, try the JB ($10), made with Four Roses bourbon, blood orange amaro, orange & angostura bitters. PRO TIP #2: Stirling Tavern does not have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of paid on-street parking on South Street or Maple Avenue. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday. If you can't find a spot on the street, paid parking is also available in the Morristown Parking Authority Lot #8 (@ 10 Franklin Street) and Vail Parking Area (@ 110 South Street). FREE on-street parking is located on MacCulloch Avenue, just two blocks from Stirling Tavern.

Despite this, the manager refused to provide our party with the brunch menu and insisted we order from the regular menu, even after we politely requested otherwise. It later became clear that this decision was based on the size of our party rather than an actual menu policy. The manager repeatedly claimed that brunch ended earlier than what was printed on the menu, which was confusing and inconsistent. After unnecessary back and forth, the chef ultimately approved our ability to order from the brunch menu, confirming that this was not a kitchen issue. This was especially disappointing as we were celebrating my son's birthday, and what should have been a pleasant occasion was unnecessarily stressful. The manager's approach was unprofessional, dismissive, and confrontational. In contrast, our waiter was excellent. He was attentive, courteous, and did everything possible to make the experience positive despite the circumstances. Honoring published menu times and treating guests with respect are basic service expectations. Unfortunately, poor management overshadowed what could have otherwise been an enjoyable celebration.
