So Rude stuff I asked the lady who at the cashier to tell me the flavors of the cakes that they sell She looked at me as I did something wrong and said .. which one do you want??? I was like it's not gonna hurt if you just tell me as they are 3 of them Anyway I ordered my stuff and said thank you she didn't respond When she gave me my coffee I said thank you again she didn't respond .. how Rude this lady is!!! I have no idea how employees like this would work or deal with customers and how she is hired from the first place Smile won't hurt .. and be nice to people won't cost her anything Plus my coffee is not completely full and pastries taste bad .. what a waste of m I'm pretty annoyed Please don't support that kind of business who don't care about their customers read more

If you want a quick coffee to go, this is a solid option for you. You have your standard coffee options and some basic food options to choose from as well. The service was very speedy when I ordered my drink and the coffee was rich and did it's job. Can't ask for much else for an airport coffee bar. read more

Bland, watery & overpriced. I ordered a large cold brew with sugar free vanilla....$5. What I was given was a cup 3/4 full of ice and something watery and brown. I'm guessing is that they get questioned all the time because I said "Is that the Large?" and was given a snorty "yup" and he walked off. Nice read more

Ruta Maya - That's a large cold brew!?! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Austin, Texas

Service was okay. The coffee was bad. Disappointing since this is supposed to be Ruta Maya. I asked for a cappuccino and should have known something was off when asked about "size". Size of a "cappuccino is "cappuccino size". It's one or two shots of espresso and 1/3 cup steamed milk and 1/3 foam. A good cappuccino is about 7 to 8 ounces. Add more milk, and it's a latte. A good cappuccino is thick and rich. The milk should be a micro foam. It should be well blended into the coffee. I don't care about "latte art". I care about what a latte should be. What I got was a twelve ounce cup with a shot of espresso somewhere in it and nothing but foam on the top. The foam had had the texture of soap bubbles, and the coffee was lost deep within the cup. A sip proved to be nothing but foamed milk. No coffee at all. Stirring it was a useless endeavor. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't get the form to mix into the coffee. A waste of $5. The sad truth is that a standard Starbucks cappuccino would have been better. Sure the beans are over roasted and the texture is too thin (there's a fine line between a cappuccino and milk with way too much coffee), but at least I would have gotten SOME coffee flavor rather than a mouthful of foam. read more

Had a few hour layover and decided to grab a cup of coffee here. Got a an iced latte with almond milk. I asked for low ice and still got a lot of ice. The coffee is just okay, not great in terms of flavor read more

I only promote locals Ruta Maya hands down! I'm a flight attendant and commute out of Austin. It blocks was my mind that the 6 A.M. shift only has one person working probably the busiest time of day?!?!?! This should be researched. You want these passengers to have a positive lasting impression of your Business not stressful one . Please reconsider your staffing. BTW: The young lady working this morning smiled the entire time and had a fantastic sense of humor read more

Perfection in coffee. I ordered a 16oz. Caramel mocha iced coffee, it was the perfect amount of bitter and sweet. The staff is kind, helpful, good at what they do and efficient. I am super impressed and delighted!! Anytime I am in this area they will be my coffee of choice! read more

Beware: Pay cash - do not use your credit card here. I was on a business trip and made a purchase on June 20. They did not post the charge to my credit card until July 31. My workplace will not reimburse me, now that the month has been closed out. I get Ring No Answer at the number listed. Disappointing... read more

Coffee meh.. typical 3$ airport coffee. The worst is that I paid for it at the neighboring Thunder Club sandwich place and was directed to this place to pick up my coffee. I kid you not, Thunderclub shouted across the hall so they would serve my coffee. Coffee place decides to charge me again for the coffee. When I tell her I already paid, she demands a receipt. When I tell her I wasn't given one, she begins to lecture me like I SHOULD KNOW that when I buy a coffee at Thundersubs I should take my receipt to this place to collect it. WTF? Rude. Customer service non existent. Sorry to bother you with my business. read more

I am hungry no breakfast places that serve meat on this side of the AP except this spot. I waited in line and no meat breakfast sandwiches left...I had the egg and cheese sandwich not too bad and a small latte...again not too bad for $9.89. they have pastry muffins sandwiches and coffees...organic beans. read more

Ruta Maya - Eat drink good - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Austin, Texas

Best coffee shop in Austin airport. Check out their main shop in Austin as well. Skip all coffee places at the airport and come here directly. Even if your gate is at the opposite end of the terminal. You can get pastries if you want to make up for the lost calories during your long trip... read more

Who would've thunk - good coffee at the airport?! Also, very strong. Kept me up til 3 am... read more

Near the Gate 7 is Java heaven. Austin's motto to "Keep it weird" had seeped through their airport. There are no major franchises to eat or drink. A slice of Austin's locality shines through the various stands with live musicians and their favored long horns memorabilia. There are two Austin Java's in the terminal. Lackluster java turned me away from Austin Java to Ruta Maya. However, this is worth a slice when connecting flights. Quality ingredients, water and beans brewed to balanced. Wasting time between destinations, I wandered with a soy chai latte in my hand soaking in the Austin southern flavor. Cardamom cinnamon swirled through the back of my throat. A great cafe should have a variety of syrups and Ruta Maya didn't let me down. An amaretto flavored latte to end my day. Simply sweet coffee walked the balanced beam holding flavor and coffee flavor. Delicious and worth the cost. read more

To the uninitiated, you can refer to my other airport coffeeshop reviews for a prologue. Ruta Maya next to gate 21 hits all the marks like it's a flight checklist: - Weak airport coffee: check. It was basically hot foamy milk. - Button press espresso machine: check. Clearly this one needs to be calibrated. - Uninterested Barista: check and mate. The poor soul has to manage all the duties herself. Luckily it was an off peak hour (I assume). The zucchini bread earns them half a star. It was fresh and moist. Label says it's from Quack's. Like the shop design. read more

Chill vibe and a good strong cup of coffee. This was the best coffee I had in Austin. They also had a spiced syrup on the bar that I recommend. Xalapa Piloncillo spiced syrup. I don't know what's in it, I suspect angel's tears and pixie dust. read more

Ruta Maya - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Austin, Texas

Grabbed some ice lattes and a cookie. Both iced lattes tasted watered down and the cookie was hard from being days old.

My husband and I stopped here flying out of Austin and I am so happy listened to the Yelp reviews. It was very good coffee here. My husband got a mocha cappuccino and it was beyond words. It was liquid gold in a cup! This coffee shop does have a nice vibe and picks up the Austin vibe. Be sure to grab there coffee on your way in and out of Austin Airport. read more

Not being one of the shiny lucky people who always get to skip the long, tiring, security lines only to relax in the comfort of a fluffy airport lounge, Ruta Maya is that special treat that awaits me after the stress of security pat downs and bag checks. The coffee here is always fresh and hot. Pastries are sent fresh from Quacks Bakery, and never disappoint. I can personally vouch for the chocolate almond croissant and chocolate chip scones -- totally delicious!! Additionally, since this is located a little farther from security than the flashy Austin Java, there is almost always a much shorter line, which at an airport, is always a big win! read more

This place might be in an airport, but it's one of the best cups of Chai I've had. The scone was okay, but I was in heaven for about 20 minutes sipping the chai latte. The staff was also really nice and served up my order quickly. I'll definitely come back if I'm ever in the Austin Airport again. read more

Got a mocha latte from here, first time in Austin and first time getting coffee from Ruta Maya. Coffee is solid and I'm glad I stopped here after my flight. 100% will be back here. Quick and friendly service with some good coffee? Can't beat it. read more

Really disappointed! One we arrived the Attendante was having a conversation with other airport employees and didn't take care of us till she was done with her personal conversation. When she finally asked us what we want to drink was like we were bothering her. She was very unprofessional and unpleasant. I know it's just airport coffee but, have a little pride in what you do and the place you work for. Jobs are though to find and people really take it for granted when they do have one. I have been to small coffee shops in Seattle airport that I had an amazing and genuine customer service and it's not just a cup of coffee it was an experience. This place definitely gave me a disappointing experience. read more

I asked for a latte. Jonathan asked if I would like something "better". From our brief conversation, I could tell this man knows and loves coffee. I agreed to try what he recommended. I think he called it an "Angry Honey Badger". This beverage is magically delicious! I'm a bit of a coffee snob, and I have been smacked in the mouth of deliciousness. It makes the four hour delay worth it! (hurricane Harvey is stirring up some trouble) If you're at the Austin airport and need a delicious coffee from friendly folk, this is the place to go! read more

I bought a cup of tea and sat down in one of their comfy chairs. Within five minutes a waiter came by and asked how long I planned to sit there, and informed me "this is not a Starbucks... this is a full-service business" - basically letting me know that buying a cup of tea did not warrant occupying a seat there. In future, I'll go without food or water before I even think about dropping a nickel on their floor. read more

Man oh man. If you want decent customer service avoid this place. Visited at 7pm on 7/6/17 Me: what is that square pastry? Her: it's a donut. Me: ... is there something inside it? Her: I don't know. Me: .... Her: there's probably some sort of gush inside. Me: and you have no idea what it is? Her: Nope. Exit stage right. Thanks not helpful woman. End scene. read more

Some seriously good coffee for an airport, and I am a real stickler about my coffee. Perfectly brewed, strong...great froth on my latte. Good for you, Ruta Maya! read more

Delicious soy chai latte! I've never been more happy with an airport hot drink.

If you love cofee. This is where you go to get it while at ABIA!

The service the morning of June 3 was very slow. You would need to commit at least 15 minutes to get a coffee which is a lot of time when people are trying to catch a flight. read more

The Austin Airport just does it right. With its careful selection of local eateries and caffeine fuel stops (Ruta Maya and Fara), this travel hub provides anyone with a good smattering of Austin tradition, whether you are looking for ATX-rooted coffee, breakfast, or BBQ. If you are on the way through AUS, RM would afford you the opportunity to see what the company has to offer but on a smaller scale. The original outpost boasts an enormous facility, what with performers, plenty of community-building activities, and a hodgepodge of assorted beverages. Here, you will find it to offer the simpler things in the coffee realm. read more

Ordered a large mocha in the evening while waiting for a 7:30 flight. I ordered the biggest size possible so I could pour most of it into a small 12 oz thermos to have on the plane then drink the rest while waiting in the airport. The barista was courteous, though not overly friendly. The big issue, however, is that she made the drink with so much foam when I poured the mocha into my thermos, it didn't even each 3/4 of the way up. This was meant to be a large and didn't even come up to 12 oz of liquid! I was very disappointed. Based on the reviews and my experience here, I will not return to this coffee shop next time I am flying out of this airport. read more

Ruta Maya - Seating area - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Austin, Texas

I went to the Ruta Maya in the Austin airport and the cashier Ana secretly changed the $1 tip I gave her to a $2 tip. She clearly didn't realize that I was going to ask for an itemized receipt because I was traveling for business and needed it for reimbursement. When I asked for it and looked it over she just stood there staring at me. I walked away debating whether to say anything while adding my sugar to my coffee and finally I decided to say something. I told her "You changed the tip?!?" She promptly responded "I can change it back" which made it clear to me she did it on purpose. Super shady and I am sure she is doing it to more people who never notice because they aren't looking at an itemized receipt and by the time it hits their credit card bill they don't remember the exact total. Don't go here!!! read more

Good tasting organic coffee. Cold brew is delicious and strong! Staff is friendly, very helpful and delivers a great finished product. However, they are usually understaffed and seem to get bogged down heating breakfast sandwiches. It would be really cool if they had a breakfast line and also a "coffee only" line. I can hope and dream!! read more

He Med this place out for a quick lunch before catching a flight. They have a Thundercloud Sub shop there and everyone knows if you come to Austin you gotta have one of their sandwiches. I ordered the California club not crazy about the name but the sandwich was tasty and huge. The sandwich came with avocado, bacon, turkey, and your selected veggies. I got the peanut butter cookie ant it was very good and one of the biggest I've seen or tried to eat. So passing through try this place it is worth it. read more

Ruta Maya - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Austin, Texas

So, I would say that my rating of this is probably not going to be 100% accurate because I just stopped at a little stand that happened to serve this coffee...AND if you walked a little further, you would find the actually like Ruta Maya coffee shop. The coffee was good, nice bold taste. Nicely priced, I think my large was $3? The coffee beans are sold in a cute canvas sac, which adds a nice little effect. The stand was dirty and understaffed. They didn't use organic milk and no stevia in their sweetner selection. Overall, it is good for a quick grab and go coffee! read more

Had an 8am flight and we overestimated how long security would take so we had empty stomachs and an hour to kill. My roommate ordered a latte which somehow they were out of at 7am? They only had iced coffee. I ordered an everything bagel which looked and smelled good. Unfortunately the bread was so stale I could barely eat a few bites before tossing it. I also got a bottler water which was oddly warm. Skip this for your airport breakfast. read more

airport location was a joke they did not even have coffee available and only had regular and decaf on the menu. the store is Just loaded with overpriced traveler crap read more

I went to a little stand between gates 6 & 7. They have an espresso machine, but the cappuccinos are kind of meh. Tasted more over roasted than any nice nutty or other flavors. Saw a sign saying they have another location at gate 19 too late. Only then did I notice that the pictures on yelp are of a proper storefront, not this little stand with equipment in closets. Maybe give that location a try instead of this one if you have the time to walk down there. read more
