I don't like coffee, but I went here for a simple sandwich as it was the closest restaurant that was open. I don't remember exactly what the sandwich was, but I ordered a turkey sandwich that was toasted, had some kind of cheese, and some kind of greens. I enjoyed it even if it was fairly pricey. The staff were professional and quick. It was the perfect experience for a quick eat before getting on a flight, except for the price. If anyone is able, I'd like to know the exact ingredients for that turkey sandwich I had. I regret not taking note of it myself, and would like to make it sometime. read more

Could not have cared less about customers. They got our order wrong - no big deal it happens - but when we asked for what we ordered OMG the attitude. They had us show them our receipt to prove they didn't give us what we ordered. Once we did it was eye rolls, sighs- so rude. We stopped by this place on our flight out and we really enjoyed it. The service was quick and friendly and the food and coffee was really good. It wasn't too pricey either. My mom and I both got a bagel breakfast sandwich and they were great. I got an iced vanilla latte with oatmilk and it was really good as well. There was a little market area to buy other stuff and they had pastries as well and a few tables in front to sit at. I would definitely go here again! read more

Utter trash coffee - how they dare brand it the same yet have totally incompetent baristas I don't know. This is an affront to the brand.

I challenge any executive representative of Cafe Medici to "secretly shop" at the Austin airport and not fire everyone and shutter the location immediately. I'd forgive the dead-eyed barista who begrudgingly served us if her parents had recently passed and she was swimming in a cocktail of grief and Xanax. However, the drink she made tasted vaguely of expired chocolate, pencil shavings, and a scoop of murky puddle water from the airport parking lot. That the order was "chai" seems irrelevant. What we received leaned closer to a salty iced Yoohoo with a suggestion of stranger-burp. Medici's one of my favorite cafes in Austin. The coffee was actually pretty good. I had the Americano. We were here at 5:15, so there was no line. Nevertheless, the employee just stared at me when I ordered. Unkn to me, she didn't speak a word of English. When I asked for my cinnamon roll to be warmed up, she again just stared. Finally I waved for another employee and she warmed it up Advice for management, you are charging a premium for the pastries. They look delicious. BUT, my cinnamon roll was NOT FRESH. I know I say this too often.. but it is in an airport so expectations must be adjusted... The Starbucks in this airport is in quite possibly the worst location as it clogs up TSA exit and it's just a mess.. this location is better but the coffee is not as good. Don't get me wrong.. it's not as bad as a dunkin but it's still just fast food coffee. They have bagels, muffins etc... so if you don't want to wait at SBUX then this is a short walk with no line. read more

Sadly it was the wrong order though and not what it said on my receipt. They insisted that was what I ordered, and I didn't want to argue so I just walked away. My boyfriend and I had a very positive experience at Medici. We had a 5 AM flight and we were some of the first people to place orders once they opened (4:30 AM). Sorry that other folks aren't all getting the great experience that I did, but I ordered a mocha, customized - very light on the syrup, and it came out quickly and perfectly. There's a real espresso machine, not the robot vending machines found in most giant chains, and a barista that was skilled in using it. I've stopped by Medici twice prior to my morning flight, and have been disappointed with both instances. The first time was last year during November. I ordered a small hazelnut latte and breakfast sandwich with no else in line, but ended up waiting 30 minutes for my order since they forgot about the order. Coffee was ok, but the breakfast sandwich was burnt. Yesterday was my second time at Medici and I ordered the cappuccino and a cinnamon roll. The cappuccino was ok, but the cinnamon roll was cold and hard. I asked the service counter if they may heat it up for me and the lady rudely replied "I will throw away." I did not understand at first, but she meant she will throw it away and get a new one to warm up. Even after the cinnamon roll was warmed, it was still hard as if it was old stale pastry. Ok the staff is SLOW! They really need a manager that can expedite, direct and move the people through. The line is always long... and now I know why. I was only getting coffee... maybe they need a separate line for coffee only? Because it was the food stuff that seemed to be grinding everything to a halt. However my 4 shot, large, caramel latte was a smooth creamy delight. A cup of Liquid silk lives blood for my morning start... worth every bit of the wait in line! Wow that was a major disappointment. Thought I would get some good local brew only to discover these folks had little experience with the coffee culture. Staff were on par with airport staff which was totally surprising as Austin usually ups the game. I had an Apple Turnover. Don't do this! I've had better apple pastries from Little Debbies. Y'all were extra nice for a first visit. I love the new look and the menu. I love the name! xo I tried your avo toast. The ingredients were healthy as ever. The EDGES of the wheat toast, however, weren't crunchy. It was more of a stale toasted texture, and was difficult to bite. Your black coffee drip was nice; enough boldness, very hot, and not acidic. Your atmosphere is bright and welcoming. You guys managed the line magnificently! But your customers all gather on one side. The corner for condiments is cramped with PEOPLE and their LUGGAGE. That's a heavy crowd all on one side. I realize you can't change the design and set up of the counter space, but it may help if you serve food orders on the opposite end of the counter where your display case is. The other thought is to have an island for condiments in the front area. Best to you and congrats on the grand opening. I'll be seeing you on my next travel venture. read more

Pretty bad, not the worst? Coffee itself (just ordered drip coffee) was ok... bacon breakfast sandwich was pretty, pretty, pretty bad... apparently they use tons of bacon bits rather than a couple slices of bacon. The server that took the order must have been having a really bad day as well. No "hi", "hello", or even "can i take your order"? Just a blank stare... I understand that this is the airport and things get hectic, but the experience is still too disappointing. Started to wait in line from 6:40am. Took about 15 minutes to order. The counter person is nice except for almost mistakenly charging me double the price -- I corrected her and then got the right amount. Then I started to wait for my drink for minutes (!) while my flight was boarding. One's dealing with pastry and one's dealing with the ordering and house coffee. No one was making espresso drinks. I had to ask when they would start making it and the pastry lady told me that I needed to wait for a specific person to come. If making a drink takes such a long time they should have informed me when I order-- it's the airport and everyone's heading toward something. The person finally came. She made latte with a full cup of ice...and then poured over the already cold espresso shot which has been sitting on the table for a while and some milk. I could do such a simple step and they needed to wait for a specific person and it took forever for that person to arrive. I heard she said "patient is a virtue" to her colleague. This is what upsets me most. I was impatient because my flight was boarding. But I paid $5 not to wait patiently until you wanted to start composing three things together. In an airport full of overexpensive premade food atrocities this place was truly an oasis for me and my party of people. The outside seating is calm, modern, adequately spaced, and comfortable. The staff is relaxed and friendly. Don't even get me started on the prices and bang for your buck. The bagel sandwich was 6 dollars and it was a great size (not too big or small). The airport is filled with copycat premade meals sprinkled throughout the terminal that are not only incredibly expensive but are obviously premade and mass produced. The bagel was soft yet had a good bite to it. The cream cheese comes on the side which I love because it lets each customer make it to their liking. The strawberries in the cup were greatly chilled and ripe. Seriously thank you cafe Medici for making my airport experience feel much less like the draining hell it could have been and usually turns out to be in some manner. read more
