I go here every now and then. They really have good tacos, but they gave me the wrong order. I didn't realize until I got home that they didn't give me my order correctly. They got my chips and queso and a brisket taco correct, but they missed 8 other tacos I ordered. They gave me 3 tacos that were like fried chicken and bacon which was absolutely disgusting. I thought my order was right because they told me my queso was under my tacos, which it was, and I figured the rest of my tacos were wrapped together but they weren't. When I realized my order was wrong they had already closed, so it was too late to call. I've had great experiences here but this one didn't sit well with me. Hopefully they won't mess up others orders like mine, and hopefully they won't waste another person's $25 like they did mine. read more

First visit and we won't be back. My mother and I shared three tacos (pork, brisket, and shrimp) for lunch. My mother said it was horrible. I say it's was eatable especially if your drunk. Which we were not. The red salsa had no distinct flavor. The green salsa tasted like it had vinegar in it. The orange salsa had the heat but again no distinct flavor. Definitely not fresh corn tortillas, as they tasted old and not very pliable. Pork meat was bland, Brisket was okay, and the Shrimp tasted frozen. We didn't like that $2 taco were small with no real taste. We call these types of attempt at making tacos play food. As my mom said, like kids attempting "make believe food". Ouch. This is one of me and my boyfriends go to place for a date night. Place is lively, it's right off the square and staff is always friendly. I highly recommend the Baja fried shrimp taco. Rusty Taco is good. They're tacos, and my orders are simple so rarely are there mistakes. I usually go for breakfast tacos (as they are served all day and I'm a sucker for a bacon, egg, and cheese taco at night). The staff are usually friendly, but it's a help yourself kind of place so drinks, napkins, ect- all on you, although they are usually nice enough to bring you more chips and clean up tables. Prices aren't too bad, and compared to Fuzzy's they are far more reasonable. Don't expect incredibly unique or wowing flavors, this isn't authentic Mexican, and it's not trying to be trendy. This is fast food with big tables for groups, music playing all day long, and convenient hours and it shouldn't have to be anything other than that. read more

I felt all the feels at Rusty Taco. Years ago, there wasn't much Mexican food around. It wasn't hip, and not many Anglos were flocking to Mexican neighborhoods to try it. Today, it crosses social, economic and geographic lines and by definition it is all authentic. At Rusty Taco, a hipster place in a university town whose first location was a Mexican neighborhood in Chicago, the picadillo was slightly dry but had the right garlic-comino-onion seasoning going on and just the right amount of diced potato. (Twenty years ago picadillo was strictly home food unless you were in a tiny diner in the barrio, and if you're Anglo you would have been the only one there,) The rajas taco is made with fresh peppers, not roasted poblano but almost as hot, with mushrooms and onions instead of heavy crema con rajas. Totally worked. The house Rusty Taco (with pineapple) was really good. Who knew pineapple was the Missing Link? But best by far was the fried shrimp taco. I could do with more slaw and less crema - but it was great. Next time I'm going to eat barefoot on the patio. Rusty Taco Cheap Tequila Margaritas are perfect. This place is awesome. The price, vibe, and tacos deserves 4 stars. I have to at least get 3-4 tacos to be full because the tacos are not the biggest but it gives you the chance to try different tacos. So far I love the bbq brisket tacos, the rusty tacos, and the Baja shrimp tacos. There's a big difference between the brisket tacos and the bbq brisket and it's simply that the bbq is wayyyy better. I was is Denton doing DoorDash and one of the orders was at Rusty's Taco and I can truly say that this establishment needs some work or some management to monitor the workers. There was a very hardworking young man working the cash register and I really appreciated him he was very kind. My issue was with the workers on the grill first off there was a red-headed guy and a blond girl that weren't being kind to the guy who was working the cash register acting as if though his actions were the reason for the 20 minute hold up on my food which to add affected my DoorDash tip. Even though it was because they were going rather slow and were to busy trying to put down the young man working the register to take accountability for their actions. Personally I would never eat here myself not because I've never had the food but because I have been a server for 3 years and I know that in a restaurant it is the job of all the employees to step up and take accountability for their actions. Seeing this really bothered me and I really think that management needs to have a chat with the 2 people working the grill line that day because it looks like this has been going on for a while and I feel really sorry for the young man working cash. Because he was working harder than anyone else yet he was getting the most crap from his employees. I hope that this location takes this into consideration and has a talk with their staff. Just to let you know the young man I am talking about had kind of long brown hair and looked to be about 5'6 or '7 sorry I don't know his name but he's a really hard worker and your staff should appreciate him more. read more

Better than the average taco joint in Denton. All of the staff was very attentive. The chips and salsa were great! We didn't have to add salt and the salsa was warm like I like it with a flavorful taste. I had the frilled fish taco and brisket taco and both were super yummy. I wish I had room for more. I finally got myself over to Rusty Taco, and I can't believe it took me so long to try it out! I love love love their gringoified take on the taco truck street taco. I adore the Roasted Pork Taco -- to die for! Both the Rajas taco and the Grilled Mahi-Mahi taco were also outstanding, and I also liked their guacamole, salsa roja, and habanero salsa. However, their salsa verde was WAY too salty. Their cran-orange margarita dusted with cinnamon was awesome, too. I will definitely be making this a regular stop. Rusty taco is a very good place to eat. Most importantly: the food is awesome. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is very comfortable and clean. They offer outdoor seating and allow dogs on the patio. They are pretty small tacos, not that I expect them to be as big as Torchy's at about half the price. The chips are not great. I did like the salsa, but I like a thin tomato heavy salsa. So that's personal preference. And can we talk about the drinks... $2.25 for a fountain drink. Fuzzy's down the street charges $2 for a larger reusable cup that you can bring back on other visits and pay only $1 to refill it (unlimited times in a visit). Overall, overpriced and just okay. We go to Rustys all the time! I love sitting outside on their patio and think service is fast and friendly. I'm happy they have upgraded their plastic cups to glass cups for margaritas, which are very tasty. They have special margaritas sometimes and each one I've gotten is delish! I usually get the black bean taco and add bacon and pineapple. YUM! I only get one, because they give you two tortillas and most of the fillings fall out to make 2 tacos!!
