The guy who was helping us seemed very flustered and he got our order wrong 3 separate times. The food was very average, there are definitely much better taco spots in Albuquerque. Oddly enough their churros were AMAZING. Best churro I've ever eaten hands down. With carmel oozing out of the middle I was surprised and I will definitely be back for another one. read more

Number 9 the Rusty Taco itself minus shell and added some guac and chips on the side. First thing I noticed getting out of the car was the SMELL...wow...super friendly staff and like yeah you can get it the way you want it. Just finished an absolutely superb meal at Rusty. Not only was our food delicious, but the service was kind and courteous. The lady who took our order told me her favorite taco was the brisket, which turned out to be my favorite as well. They refilled our chips and weren't frustrated when we accidentally overstayed closing time. We highly recommend! BE AWARE that the restaurant is not inside the mall, but attached to the exterior, next to Blaze Pizza. It took us nearly ten minutes to find the place, but we're very glad we did :) read more

As a Dallas native, I'm so happy to see this spot pop up in ABQ. While I didn't appreciate it as much when I was back home since it opened in the midst of the "taco chain wars," it stands out in ABQ because there's nothing like it. The green salsa is a tomatillo salsa (extremely rare in NM), and that alone was enough to make me excited! I ordered the TX brisket, Baja shrimp, rajas, and fried chicken tacos. My partner got the steak fajita, carne asada, and Rusty's taco (an al pastor variant). The hits: The baja shrimp and rajas were my favorite and I will absolutely be back for them. The rajas were spicy and mixed well with the mushrooms and I was pleasantly surpised that they weren't floating in cream (as most rajas usually are). The shrimp taco was fresh, well-marinated and filling. The carne asada was so flavorful that my partner went back for another. The Rusty Taco - this one made me think of the Mexican Yucatan when I took a bite. The achiote was so bright and present in every bright and paired well with the pineapple - this one is a win. The misses: I ordered the fried chicken taco Team Fav style. I was not a fan of the queso on it, but that is personal preference and I think I'll try it again in its original form because the chickent itself was well-seasoned. The steak fajita wasn't a star in my partners eyes because he said it gets outdone by every other taco he tasted. On its own he said it would probably been good. The brisket taco - as a Texan this was my biggest miss. The brisket was super fatty and grey. By grey I mean there were no burnt ends or any presence of bark. Anyone who knows brisket knows these are the most coveted pieces. Maybe if customers could say I'll have a #5 with bark or a #5 with burnt ends, I'd give it another go. All in all, our experience was good. It was super busy but the staff was attentive and courteous and overall the QUALITY of the food is there. Our misses were largely misses due to personal tastes. We will be making this place a regular stop. read more

Normally I shy away from chain restaurants but this was not my choice. It was my BFF birthday and she gets what' she wants. They are following CDC guidelines so that was a good start. The ambience is super cute and the selection of tacos was very impressive ! I had the brisket, grilled shrimp and chicken tacos. My fave was the brisket and then the grilled shrimp. Chicken was my least favorite. The habanero sauce had some serious kick to it! I was pleasantly surprised , lunch for 2 with a total of 6 tacos was $20.00. All vey flavorful and fresh. My husband and I ate here after reading Rave Reviews. The staff was on their toes thou it had just been open for the day. Very courtiuos and attentive. Chips all you wanted were good, nice selection of 3 dips. My tacos : fish were tasteless. Had to add some sauce on top, even then wasnt better. Always the BEST tacos in town! Hands down! Never any issues with the food or service and we go here all the time! Ok, I'm basing this rating off of the experience we had tonight. We pre-ordered in advance a Taco Family pack. The deal was $30 for 10 tacos, Chips, Salsa and Queso.. First off, when we got there at 7:45 (the time we scheduled pick up) they told us it would be a 20 minute wait as they had too many orders for the same time. Okay, but I wonder what the point of selecting a pick up time was? Anyway, the cashier says "We are out of Chips Queso and salsa do you want a refund?" My husband said no. So we paid $30 for ten tacos, to find out when we get home half our order was wrong. We Love to support local, especially during this pandemic and I'm sure they were busy but what a total disappoint. We will not be ordering from here for a LONG while, if ever. What a bummer. read more

We tried this place out for the first time tonight. It wasn't horrible but I don't think we'll return. The staff is extremely friendly and checks on you often. The whole place is clean and really kept up. We had the brisket tacos and brisket with eggs and cheese. The food was just so so - didn't have much flavor. The salsas also needed some salt and something extra. The chips and queso were delicious though and my kids loved the egg and cheese tacos. read more

We've been waiting for this place to open. Well last Friday was the night (this place was busy so we went next door) today's the day, Sunday afternoon and not too busy. There's a menu on the outside so we had some idea what we wanted when we got to the register. For the uninitiated these are street tacos - your choice of fillings in a 6" corn tortilla. I may be a little overly picky. But in my opinion it is a little expensive for what you get. They need a little more filling and maybe another tortilla to go with the one you get. But make no mistake, all 4 of my tacos were good - no doubt about it. Be warned one taco won't be enough to fill you, unless this is a dessert. So you should plan on buying more than 1! Everything is ala carte so chips & salsa, pico de gallo, guacamole or queso are extra. Food, friendliness of the staff and if you are so inclined beer & margaritas are excellent. read more

I highly recommend the Fried Chicken, BBQ Brisket, and Fish tacos. The others we tried were fine, but not nearly as delicious. The restaurant was packed, so with the small interior it took a while for seats to open up for our group, and it was so loud we had to practically shout to hear each other across the table. Holy guacamole, this place just shot straight up to the top of my breakfast tacos list. Listen, I'm a simple girl. I like simple tacos. Their steak, egg and cheese taco was so good and fresh. They made everything to order so it came off the stove piping hot. We were one of the first people to order that morning so they even brought some chips and salsa to our table to apologize for the wait. Apologizing because I'm going to get a freshly made taco? No need but also yes I will gladly take those chips and salsa. FYI - they were also SUPER good. Not too spicy, good flavor, fresh chips. My grandkids and I were hungry and wanted to grab a bite, so we stopped in Rusty's. The worker took our order, a youngster with his hair hanging over his face who later was preparing food. Minimal communication but for sure the sale device asks for a tip before the customer has a chance to determine the level of service. When Rusty's says small order of chips and salsa, they mean an okay portion of salsa with about 10 chips, really small. Then we waited for a loooooong time. I went up to the area where they were prepping food and asked and soon our tacos came out. They were okay, sorta cold. They tasted okay. There was no TP in the bathroom. Everything looks understaffed and overpriced. I mean chips?! Why not be generous with chips? read more

The amount of cheese and meat combined with all the fixings, some lime juice, and of course a couple dips with each bite of the consume. It was heavenly. I'm glad I had a rather large collection of fast food napkins in my car with me. I really enjoyed the presentation of the tacos. Not to mention the chill vibes of the staff.
