Can get really busy depending on what time you go. When my boyfriend and I went the place was packed and we waited around 30 minutes for our food. But you could tell that or food was hot and just made and wasn't sitting around waiting to be served. Portions are huge. I got the catfish basket with sweet potato fries and it was big. Y'all...this place is amazing. I haven't had anything I didn't like or didn't make my stomach feel happy. We keep coming back because of the food (obviously), but the atmosphere makes the experience so much better. The staff is attentive and they always have a smile. Good music is always playing. Giant TVs to watch games, but not a sports bar atmosphere. Great to bring the kids and when the weather is good you can sit outside. I highly recommend the Rusty Pelican. It is easily one of our top favorite restaurants in Mandeville. read more

We went here to eat before we went poke hunting on the lakefront. I got a burger and she got the surf and cherp. My burger was okay and the fries were good. I personally felt I could make a better burger at home. She enjoyed her shrimp but wasn't a big fan of the chicken (too meaty) I personally didn't mind them. If you want a really really good cheeseburger, this is the place to go! Just fantastic!! Only knock is I don't like the fries, they don't seem fresh cut and made in site. We were on our way home from LA. and pulled into town. Just happened upon it. Looked it up and all the reviews where great, so we tried it.....it was great! We had burgers and fries and the burgers are a big 1/2 pound and home made. My girlfriend had a burger that was topped with fried pickels, really good. The place is really cool and laid back. This is a fantastic place for a burger. Great portions, great atmosphere. I come here all the time. My favorite is the grilled chicken with swiss and mushroom. But any of the beef burgers are great. My family and I eat here regularly. The food is always hot and delicious. I've had many different menu items and specials, I have never been disappointed! The chicken sandwiches are huge! We also enjoy sitting outside and watching the people pass. Very nice little corner. The pelican punch is hit or miss... I've had it when it was awesome... Other times, too much ice and too weak. Brought some clients here for lunch last week and had the brickhouse chicken sandwich. It was a large grilled chicken breast with bacon, cheese and bbq sauce. The fries were good also. Great food and service! Hubbs got the Girod burger, it was huge!! He probably could've just had 1/2 of it. But to my surprise managed the whole thing because it was soo good. I got the crab cake po-boy and it was great!! Totally loved it! The little got the chicken nuggets and they were made fresh, he loved them. Everything thing was really good. I have only 2 things I didn't care for, 1 was the sweet fries. I thought they were a little limp, but hubbs and little got the regulars and so I stole some of theirs. Also, didn't like how I had to go back into the line and wait to get dessert (as that is how I bribe my little to eat his food). I kept thinking I would wait till it died down, but it never really did. But in all great food! read more

We leave our house to go grab something to eat and our car goes directly to Rusty Pelican. We fight for seats at the bar because the staff is so personal and so much fun. We do not try many other places because we like what we get here...Shrimp Taco's the best crab cakes, Burgers, grilled chicken... and if that temp drops below 70 I'm getting a delicious cup of their seafood gumbo on the side of my meal....We love this place!!!! read more

Was in Mandeville last week and stopped in with my mom for a late lunch. We hadn't been there in several years and both decided on hamburgers, a first for us there as seafood is what we had always eaten in the past. Mom had the special called the Southern Comfort burger which offered pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes while I chose the Pontchartrain pickle burger which included fried pickles. Sitting outside eating great food on beautiful day! The roast beef poboy is the best I've had since moving out of NOLA. The catfish and shrimp were fresh and crunchy just like my mamma's.
