    Baked stuffed scallops
    Ellen B.

We had not been to Rustler's since they moved. While I like the space it is definitely smaller, which made for a wait to be seated on a busy night and then wait a long time for our meal. There is a huge bar and they seat right around that which is not my preference to be right up against strangers, but was the only option to get a space. There might be more seating for families upstairs but a table was not apparently an option for a party of 2. The food was excellent. I had the baked stuffed scallops, which I would recommend. A good amount of fresh large scallops with a healthy helping of delicious seafood stuffing and newburg sauce. The stuffing had small, but still discernible pieces of real lobster meat. I could not finish everything - and I really gave it a try! My husband had a burger with cheese and bacon. This was juicy and delicious. He had onion rings that were light and crispy. Great meal that would warrant 5 stars but for the wait issue and lack of table seating.

Busy Friday night before Christmas , was hoping to miss the supper rush but hit the noisy bar rush instead . Had to wait for a table because no one was around to clean the tables people had left from . Had the same waitress from the last visit . Was not any better . Long wait for food , excessive then it was cold . The stuffed baked scallops were not great and even worse cold ,high light again was the bacon wrapped scallops and crab Rangoons . Please add your non alcoholic beverages to a menu . And non carbonated as well . The worst thing was the employee coughing all over the place . It's bad enough the customers coming in sick and spreading that around for the holidays . If you're sick and dealing with food please at least wear a mask .

    Overcooked baked that disappointed us.

Maddie was a wonderful server but our entrees were soo disappointing. The house salads had wilted lettuce. The scallop and haddock bakes were burnt on the bottom. My husband's first chicken was undercooked. It just felt like the kitchen didn't care. The sides were delicious with the exception of the baked potato. I had read that on a review and have to concur. The Cole slaw was delightful as well as the house vegetables. For the price we would never go again and would say try other places for dinner.

This was our first time being here. The parking lot was full and I can why . Our food was delicious and cooked perfectly. We sat at the bar when we saw two empty seats as it was very busy . Rustic looking inside and pretty loud which was fine for us. Caesar salad was real good. I got the tenderloin and was cooked to perfection! My husband got the steak tips with a sweet chili sauce on them . We will definitely go back when in the mood for steak .

Yes, it's a bit small inside , but the food was good, the service was good, and prices are reasonable. Also, they do have outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside and were able to get a booth, although most of the tables are close to the bar. We ordered the beef tips and the walnut cranberry salad, which was served with warm balsamic on the side. Very good, and I would recommend a visit.

Great food and good prices with friendly service. Yes the restaurant is a bit small and can feel a bit cramped, but the food is well worth it.

We arrived at Rustler's on a Friday evening around 6 PM, six people in our party and we were seated at once. Our server was Liz, and she was amazing! Food was great and cooked to order, and portions were plentiful.

Let's start with the cocktails, because they truly deserve top billing. I always order the seasonal espresso martini, and somehow it just keeps getting better. This time it was tiramisu-inspired, and it was unreal. Rich, balanced, not overly sweet, and actually tasted like the dessert without feeling heavy. Whoever is behind that bar knows exactly what they're doing. The fish and chips? You cannot go wrong. Perfectly crisp batter, flaky fish, and fries that hold their own. It's one of those dishes you order once and then find yourself thinking about days later. That said, everything we've tried over multiple visits has been consistently excellent. It's the kind of menu where you feel safe branching out because you know it's going to deliver. The space itself adds to the whole experience. The architecture is beautiful, with warm wood tones and big windows that bring in natural light and make the river views part of the meal. It manages to feel polished and special without being stuffy. You can dress up a little or come in relaxed and still feel right at home. And the service is always attentive in that effortless way. Our servers have consistently been knowledgeable, present, and genuinely welcoming without hovering. It makes the whole night feel easy.

After driving 40 minutes we arrived 10 minutes early as they don't open until 430; no problem ,they saw us in the parking lot and waved us in. Unusual as most places guard the door to the second. They sat us immediately, and introduced us to our server Alyssa ,who turned out to be the most knowledgeable , professional person we have ever met. And we have been dining out and working in the industry for many years! The fun began; my wife ordered her Filet Mignon and I asked Alyssa what she recommended , shocking me she said The Skirt Steak with marbled potatoes with the empanadas as an appetizer. I was certain she would have said the Porterhouse or Tomahawk to upsell us but she was spot on as it was incredibly tender and flavorful . In summary it was the most delightful fine dining experience we have ever enjoyed! Thank you Alyssa and your incredible chefs and fellow servers for unforgettable 56 anniversary dinner!

We wanted to try a little bit of everything, so decided on the mixed grill for 2, with mashed potatoes and fires on the side. We started with the focaccia bread and oil dressing that were very good. We also got the enchiladas, one spicy cheese and the other beef. These were okay, nothing crazy but enjoyable. However, the mixed grill was simply not worth the money. The sausage was over cooked, strip steak flavorless and the long short ribs were tough. The chicken was okay, but nothing better than anywhere else I've had grilled chicken before. Our waitress Jennifer was amazing. And when she asked how our experience was, she could see by the lack of food we had eaten, and the expression on my face, we were not impressed. We ended our meal with the tres leches cake that was very good. Overall, this place is a gimmicky tourist trap that over charges for their "atmosphere" and prays you get drunk off their $250 wine before you order. I thought for sure it would be decent, and was wrong. I would hate to see the quality in peak tourist season. Leaving hungry was not something I imagined.

Classic dark steakhouse/grill room atmosphere, open kitchen, good energy, friendly people. Unfortunately, the food execution did not match the appearance or pricing. Our waitress was very nice and genuinely trying, but it was her first night after only a couple hours of training, which showed. To the restaurant's credit, the manager/supervisor was sharp, knowledgeable, and handled questions immediately. The biggest miss was the "Steak & Cheese" appetizer described as: "Beef Carpaccio, Fried Goat Cheese, Greens, Fried Capers, Red Onion, Aioli" What arrived was essentially a large salad topped with thick-cut beef and heavy dressing. I actually had to dig underneath the greens to find the fried goat cheese. Once I found it, the goat cheese itself was excellent. The "carpaccio," however, was not carpaccio in any recognizable form. Thick slices of beef covered in dressing completely missed the point of the dish. I love both carpaccio and fried goat cheese, so this should have been an easy win. I also found the steak menu surprisingly limited for a place presenting itself as a serious grill room. No New York strip, only a "NY Sirloin," plus essentially a ribeye and hanger steak option. Oddly, for Portland, Maine, there was also no lobster on the menu. I ordered the hanger steak entree with fries. The fries were excellent. The hanger steak itself was average at best, especially at the price point. Overall, the restaurant has atmosphere and potential, but the food felt more style than substance. For me, about a 3/5 experience overall.
