Here is the original combined review: First impression (over the phone) of the hotel is the reason we chose this one: Yvonne; she was great! The wait to check in was painfully long. There were 2 people behind the desk but only one taking care of clients. When we got to the desk, the girl (I wish I had gotten her name but I didn't) was very professional, apologized for the long wait, and took care of us quickly, so I can only assume the people ahead of us had a special request or something.. .and that is definitely forgivable. At the bar we were greeted by John, very experienced at his job and it showed. After he left we got Emily. She had a great attitude, had only nice things to say about co workers and her bosses. But instead we just got the story of the renovation and nothing to try to make us feel better about not getting any sleep. Extremely disappointing, as other hotels we have stayed at always try to do something to make up for a legitimate concern. (We don't have a lot of complaints but when we do we are never brushed off like that.) I was wondering if management doesn't instruct their front desk staff what to do when a client has a concern. It didn't appear they were brushing us off in a rude way, more like they just didn't know what to do for us. They told us next time we come we should request the top floor. Ummm... there's a very good chance we won't stay over ever again because we feel like our concern wasn't heard or taken seriously. We would definitely go back to eat there, but not sleep (or... not sleep, actually). They did a beautiful job on the aesthetics of the renovation. You can clearly see the pride they took with this. I wish they had taken the soundproofing as seriously. Every single member of the staff we had contact with was fantastic and made us want to come back. The food was pricey but very tasty. I had the portabella with a salad and I can't wait to have it again, it was so good. The bar atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. The room was clean, the climate control worked properly, they have blackout curtains in the rooms, the bathroom was spacious and clean. The elevator was painfully slow but the stairs were accessible and we ended up using them instead. A tweak here and there and this place could be perfect. For the price they charge for an overnight stay, they really should be looking into soundproofing, and figure out the elevator situation, not sure why any elevator would be as slow as theirs is.
