Food is okay. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I am happy they offer delivery to my area. The wait times aren't too long.

We found this place because I was looking for somewhere I could get a beer and walk out and around the town of Jim Thorpe (I believe they allow it here). But ended up staying for the vibes and plus we were super hungry. I wish I remembered our waitresses name but I believe she had pink in her hair. She allowed me and my girlfriend to sample some beers that she thought we would like because we were hesitant and what to order. We got the sangria sour beer and the white ale which were perfect for us. We also saw online that everyone loved the smash burger so we had to try it. We added truffle fries for 3 dollars which was so worth it. Some of the best fries we have ever had. Also I think we decided it was the best smash burger we have ever had. We both have never tried bacon jam and we were a bit hesitant about the pimento cheese as well. I think my favorite moment from this trip was sitting at the bar here and eating this meal. Plus the burger lived up to the hype. Thank you to the waitress we had you made our day!

Great ambiance (love me some R&B). I live in LA, California where everything is pricey and sometimes the food is not as flavorful for the price you pay. The burger here had so much flavor-definitely worth the price. I would come back to Scranton just to eat here. Thank you, Von & Mom!!

Incredible what you can find when you aren't looking…read more I stumbled upon a gem, with a good bit of history. On a layover in Scranton I was walking around hungry, but was unsure of where to go to fix that. So I do what I always do, walk aimlessly. Just a few steps away from the University of Scranton, Chef Von & Mom sits. I entered and was immediately greeted with warm smiles, and beautiful faces. Mom was present, and gave me a brief history lesson. She informed me her family actually established the first black owned restaurant in Scranton. At that point I had heard enough, the smells coming from the kitchen had already decided for me. I asked Mom whats a popular dish I would enjoy, she suggested the BBQ sandwich with the fries. The order came out very quickly and piping hot. The BBQ was juicy, and the fries were seasoned to perfection. I loved the toasted bun, it held the moisture of the coleslaw well without getting soggy. The BBQ sauce was a nice compliment to the overall sandwich, nothing else was needed, this was indeed a hit. I appreciate the incredible customer service, but I love that this family has continued an incredible tradition of bringing Scranton quality food with no exceptions. Pro tip: After I left I looked this place up, the owners Chef Von & Mom were on "Next Level Chef" with Gordon Ramsey. Check out their episode, it originally aired on FOX.

They have a pretty extensive mocktail menu if you don't/can't drink alcohol which I appreciate as well, but didn't try anything. We had the tirokafteri appetizer and it was amazing!!! We loved it. The crab pasta is also amazing. Our server was kind and attentive and joyfully answered any questions we had. We were checked on by about three different people which is always refreshing. The staff really cares. I even spilt some pasta sauce on my shirt and they came over with club soda and a fresh napkin to help me out. Would love to dine here again!

We recently visited Butter and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience…read more The moment we sat down, the water bottle brought to our table had crumbs floating inside. I informed the waitress, and she kindly replaced it ,but the second bottle had the same issue. My daughter refused to drink anything else, so I had no choice but to go out to the parking lot and get our own bottled water. That should have been the first sign that the experience wasn't going to improve. We all ordered burgers, and they were extremely disappointing. Not only were they overpriced, but the buns were completely soaked in grease and falling apart. Even though we requested medium-rare, the burgers came out raw -- not just pink, but visibly undercooked. It was very unappetizing. While the restaurant itself has a cozy atmosphere, the quality of the food and overall experience overshadowed that. We left feeling uncomfortable, and our stomachs started hurting afterward. Sadly, we regret choosing this place and would not return.
