    Tasteful chicken Caesar.
    Pat C.

Came to this location by chance after tempering the name from a different location in San Rafael. Super calm atmosphere, attentive staff and the food.... Well that was a very pleasant surprise. My chicken Caesar with shredded rotisserie chicken câpres and vinaigrette was such a refreshing change from the usually heavy The curry soup was fully loaded subtle yet complex in flavors and delicious. Could not resist the pastries and my girl went for her fav almond croissant which was just decadent.

Love this bakery! The coffee is 10/10, the pastries are all delicious and their menu selection of food to order is great! Lots of sitting room inside and outside. Super cute location, very aesthetically pretty bakery, the outside is beautiful. Must try when you visit Marin country mart.

Nice little bakery/cafe. My sister lives up the hill so it's super close by. Nice selection of pastries ( we came during the week- weekends may be a different story) and a nice menu of breakfast items, sandwiches, quiche, 2 soups of the day, and 1/2 sandwich-soup combo. The soup sandwich combo was the best I think. Hubby liked his turkey emmentaler sandwich which was on a roll. Cousin got an avocado toast with thick slices of avo. They also have a selection of boxed cookies and sweet treats for sale. Nice and casual with some tables inside. If eating in, they bring the items to your table.

Went there this morning and had their ham and cheese quiche and hot chocolate. The quiche was one of the best I've ever had. The hot chocolate was great also.

If you want the best quality pastries around, rustic has you covered! I use them for work catering on occasion and they are always a hit. The restaurant is located in a cute little mall (The Marin County Mart) and has indoor/outdoor seating. It's always pretty busy, but moves quick. There soups and sandwiches are always a great option for lunch as well as the salads. There is not a bad item on the menu!

Nice place in Larkspur Landing. Outdoor seating is nice with umbrellas Lots of customers always specially on a Saturday during the farmers market. Seasonal selections But regular menu is good. First 6 sandwiches only for the +soup or +salad combo. The bread here is good. Sandwiches are excellent. Got the 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad. Excellent!

I've been a loyal customer at this location (and Larkspur Landing) for years and Lorena always recognizes me. I'm happy to see that they've persisted through COVID-19 and it seems like customers and the staff are getting more attuned to safety protocol. I understand that their offerings and hours have been minimized to accommodate the changes in business and demands. Their vanilla lattés are one of my staples and I'm quite partial to the granola parfait with fresh fruit. Today, I got a ham and cheese croissant to share with my son and they offered to heat it up, which made the cheese in the center deliciously gooey. But, to be fully transparent, the reason that I was motivated to write today's review was because we found sustainable silverware in our take-out bag today. As someone who is routinely dismayed to find a stash of plastic utensils in most of the take-out/delivery bags that arrive these days, even when we have requested otherwise, finding that Rustic Bakery has moved ahead with their sustainability goals - amidst all of the current challenges made me really happy.

Truly in a league of their own. I work way too close for my own good. Thanks for tempting my belt line each and every morning.

She said her mom owns a restaurant so she knows how to run a restaurant. Well this is a bakery not a restaurant and customers should be treated with respect or you loose them. We're done there until she leaves. And maybe try to keep the tables and restroom cleaner so customers feel comfortable. Thank you

The Castro location is beautiful with its clean, ocean-blue French decor and relaxing, cozy vibe. It is always busy on the weekend, but the quality makes it worth the wait. Everything I have tried there is top-notch, from the perfect croissants and lattes to the savory mushroom crepes, French onion soup, and grilled tuna sandwich. The Larkspur location in the Marin Country Mart has a slightly different, less urban feel that I really enjoy. It feels a bit more intimate, cozy and has a much bigger outside seating area. It seems to have an even wider selection of great entrees. Whether you are grabbing a quick salad or sitting down for a full meal, both locations offer an authentic French experience that is hard to beat. Highly recommended.

As I waited inside I admired their beautiful decor (especially that green wall!), and peeped all the equally-beautiful pastries on display. Oh la la! It took all my post-Thanksgiving self-control to resist a sweet treat (next time!). I satisfied my craving with a hot latte. I ordered and paid at the counter/register and was greeted with a lovely French accent. I assumed that my order would take awhile given the bustling crowd inside and outside. But it was ready within minutes - a hot, smooth latte hit the spot and powered me for the remaining drive north. Le Marais is easy to find at the far end of the Marin Country Mart - abundant parking is all around. Before I got back in the car, I took a quick walk through the shopping center. A must-stop if you're in the area, whether you need to shop, to eat, or to simply grab a drink. So charming and can't wait to return!

The place is clean, with plenty of seating both inside and outside, and there is a large selection of pastries, scones, breads, and grab-and-go items. The staff is professional and efficient, though clearly busy, so do not expect a lot of chit-chat. Good coffee, fresh pastries, easy seating, and enough tempting extras to make you buy more than you planned. I will probably stop by again tomorrow morning before leaving the area.

The place is a grab-and-go establishment where you order at the cashier and grab your food once ready (or they'll bring it out to you if dining in). I loved the outdoor seating on a sunny day but all the tables were unfortunately taken when we were there. The inside also has a couple of seats and refreshing cucumber water was offered.

Authentic Croque Monsieur -- one of the best I've had in the States (just oversized!)…read more Stopped by Le Marais Bakery (Buvette du Marais) at Marin Country Mart in Larkspur for a sunny outdoor lunch. Ordered the Croque Monsieur with side salad and a Maison Perrier sparkling water. This is a proper French-style Croque Monsieur executed beautifully. House-made pain de mie toasted to golden perfection with crisp edges, quality ham, plenty of melted aged Comté and Gruyère, and a light touch of béchamel that binds everything without any heavy, saucy overload (I didn't even spot a thick layer in the cross-section, but the rich, nutty flavor came through perfectly). It arrived piping hot, which made all the difference -- gooey cheese and satisfying crunch throughout. Flavor-wise, it tasted more authentic than most versions I've tried elsewhere in the U.S.: balanced, comforting, and not greasy at all. The simple mixed greens salad on the side kept it fresh and prevented it from feeling too rich. Paired with the crisp sparkling water, it was an ideal light-but-satisfying lunch. The only non-authentic thing? The size -- I've never seen a Croque Monsieur this large! It's generous (in true California fashion), but everything held up well without getting soggy or overwhelming. The outdoor setting is pleasant -- brick pavement, dappled sunlight, relaxed vibe. Their bread and pastries clearly shine here, and this savory dish holds its own. Highly recommend if you're craving a genuine French bistro classic in Marin. I'll definitely be back -- probably for one of their famous croissants or a crêpe next time.

The bad: A real galette is paper-thin and most of it is crispy. The Deux Saumones galette was thick enough to be spongy and it was only une saumone. The menu said "wild & smoked" salmon but it only had smoked, and a monochrome flavor. The only authentic French part was the waiter's attitude when I asked. He just said there was only smoked today, and of course no apology, let alone a warning when I ordered. The chocolate crepe likewise had no pretense of crispness, and the valrhona chocolate was wasted on it. It was excellent chocolate too, as we discovered only when we scraped it off and ate it separately. But on the crepe we couldn't tell.
