I used to give this restaurant 5 stars, always. Sadly, after my visit last weekend, I just can't do that anymore. The beginning of our evening was a really disappointing experience in the bar. I'm not sure what was going on, but clearly the 3 staff members working the near empty bar were less than interested in helping two middle age ladies. After sitting for nearly 10 minutes, someone finally came over and took our order. 10 minutes later, we still had had no water and no cocktails. After being unable to catch anyone's eye, I finally got up and asked if we could possibly get the drinks we had already ordered. I had to repeat the order. I also asked if we could possibly have a candle lit on our table, as the bar was incredibly dark and uninviting. The bar tender looked at me like I was crazy, smirked and told me, "we don't do candles". So, less than one star for this experience. And, for the record, their seasonal pumpkin mule and nothing pumpkin about it. The gals behind the bar were absolutely rude and made a terrible impression. Service at dinner was stellar. Our waiter was attentive, helpful and funny. 5 stars for him. I've had him wait our table severely times before and he is stellar! The food was still very good. They still bring the delicious focaccia bread to start, which is always a treat. Salads were yummy & plentiful. Entrees were very nice! And dessert - a brown butter and pecan cheesecake was spot on. However, their menu has become stale with the same items having been on it for years and it's become smaller, with fewer options. And the price, yikes! It is very expensive. It has always been pricey, but I used to feel it was worth the $$. I don't think I feel that way anymore. Had the initial hour in the bar not been so unsettling (we almost left), I might feel differently. But, if I am going to dump $250+ on a meal, I expect to be treated respectfully from start to finish. Whoever manages this place really needs to take a look at the bar, the bar staff and the lack of ambiance and friendly service. Crappy way to start a spendy night out. We celebrated here last Friday night & our dinner was amazing!! We arrived a little early so had a drink in the comfortable bar area. Scallop appetizer was a perfect way to start our meal. We also shared the mixed green salad. Our entrees were also perfectly prepared and surprisingly big portions. New York steak, lamb and my miso sea bass all outstanding. I have had the pan seared chicken breast and veggies at the restaurant multiple times and it was wonderful. I ordered it for take out and the breast was half the size of what I had dining in. The carrots were smaller as was the asparagus. The cold mashed potatoes all floating in a watery mess inside a cardboard box was not appealing. The quality is no longer like they are used to. Haven't been there for a while and was so excited to be back and order my favorites as well as introducing this restaurant to my boyfriend. Unfortunately it was so disappointing. The $60 steak was undercooked (we requested medium rare and received rare) The cook on my duck breast was absolutely unacceptable, a small center was rare and the majority of the outer area was completely grey. It was too tough and chewy and the fat wasn't rendered correctly. I'm so sad and disappointed. This is one of the few places that served duck breast in my area and I have to find a new one now. The service was nice until I asked to have the steak and duck breast sent back and then they started to argue with me and told me that's how they done and that's "their" medium rare. They sat us in the back, and it was so loud we could barely hear one another. There were a few groups around us that were crazy loud. Not somewhere I would bring your older folks to enjoy a nice meal and enjoy one another's company and conversation. I had the chicken which was honestly so delicious. Our server Rachel was amazing as well. She really did a great job. Our group mostly sat in silence the whole time because we couldn't hear one another. A lot of "huh?" And "what?". Not anyones fault, but not enjoyable for our group. It was quieter in the bar as we were leaving than it was in the back where we were seated. My boyfriend and I went here last night for his birthday. We met by an absolutely lovely hostess who greeted us as if we come there all the time. The food and wine were sensational but our server, James really stole the show. He was the most gregarious and affable server I have had since moving to Bothell. It was an absolute pleasure to sit in his section. He made wonderful recommendations and his cadence of checking in on us was perfect. We ordered cocktails, crab cakes, wine, filet mignon, ribeye, and a strawberry crisp for dessert. The drinks were not only spectacular, but their presentation was beautiful. The crab cakes had a perfect sear and flaked apart beautifully. My filet was cooked to perfection (medium rare) as well as my boyfriend's ribeye. I knew when we saw those beautiful grill marks that we were going to have a good time. Portions are big, we definitely had leftovers for today. We enjoyed a few glasses of Piolet's cab sauv and it paired absolutely perfectly with our steaks. Dessert was fantastic- a seasonal fruit crisp topped with ice cream. The atmosphere is intimate but the sections are partitioned so large parties can have a good time too. It's also a wedding venue so that tells you the vibe is right. One sliiiight miss for me was that when I made the reservation, I told them we were celebrating a birthday, and I guess this isn't the place that is going to do anything special for you. Not the end of the world but a mini dessert brought out is always a nice touch in high end restaurants. I made my reservation a week in advance and was happy I was able to get my preferred time on a Saturday 6:45PM. We arrived on time and was welcomed and seated immediately. I enjoyed an old fashioned to start. The focaccia bread with balsamic and olive oil. The bread was buttery and warm. My husband had the fettuccine with prawns and I had the filet medium rare. The steak was cooked perfectly. The demi glacé was good. I wish they offered other options compound butter or béarnaise. If I could I would give Russell's ten stars! This place is so amazing. The atmosphere was great and had a homey vibe to it. Just a big open space with all the tables and the lights were low enough it felt just right. They have a cute bar when you first walk in too. The food was on point and we have been to a lot of fancy/expensive places. We went all out and got a lot of food. We started out with bread and holy cow that focaccia bread was so soft and covered in butter and dipped in the oil and vinegar I could've had that for the whole meal. Next came out the appetizers. They accidentally brought us the mushroom plate on mistake and they let us keep it and I'm glad they did cause it was over the top delicious. My husband loves mushrooms and he couldn't get enough of them. Me not so much I don't like the texture but the mushroom sauce was so good! I kept dipping the bread into the sauce. Just soaked it all up! The Beef Carpaccio melted in your mouth and I would highly recommend this dish. The scallops were tender and cooked just perfectly. We got the baby spinach salad and they had just enough dressing that it wasn't over powering. That's hard to do it seems like. The main dishes didn't disappoint either after the appetizers and salad we knew it would be a hit. The filet mignon was the best I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection I couldn't even wrap my head around it! I didn't want the steak to end but my stomach did for sure. I was so full but happy. My husband got the pork chop and he loved it too and said it was cooked perfectly with great flavor! I love how their main dishes come with sides and it's not a la carte. Kuddos to Russell's! #THANKYOUTHURSDAY Truth be told, I've seen Russell's on social media, on event sites for their amazing venue, and on Yelp, but I've never REALLY made an effort to go check them out. We recently went out for a double date with some friends and reservations were made here by our friends - MAN, am I glad that they did, because I have been missing out! For starters, the restaurant is so cute. Rustic barn style and very romantic. The venue here is GORGEEEOUS. If I could redo my wedding, I would probably do it here (let's pretend, in a perfect world, where gatherings over 10 are still permitted). All staff were wearing masks and gloves, and everybody who was dining in were seated pretty far away to promote social distancing. I definitely felt like things were "safe" here. I went in with a craving for filet mignon and was thinking that's what I was gonna get - until one of our friends convinced me that the pork chop was a MUST try. I was so unsure and ready to be so disappointed, because pork chops aren't really something I order in general when I go out to eat. I mean, how can you say no to steak, ya know? But, I took his word for it... Guys, GET THE DAMN PORK CHOP. It's delicious. Divine. Seriously almost better than the filet (I had a bite of my husband's). And like honestly, if they can come up with a pork chop that's almost better than a filet mignon? You know they're doing something right. The apple demi glace was so good and just wow. Wow. Moving on from the pork chop (reluctantly) the garlic mashed potatoes were phenomenal. So good. I wish they gave me more. Like, an ungodly Thanksgiving amount would've been a good starting point. This place is great for a romantic date night, intimate gathering, work happy hour etc. The atmosphere gives off a modern rustic but classy feeling. If you are eating here in the evening, the place is dim lit and there are multiple candles. I would think of this restaurant as a place you would like to have a nice evening out, having a sip of wine and some fancy food. My salad came out looking a little soggy and wilted by the dressing but it definitely did not taste like it looked. It was better than the dessert in my opinion. The flavors of the components on the salad went together perfectly and it probably is one of my favorite salads I have ever had. They could have had a lighter hand on the dressing if I am being honest though. As for the steak, it was cooked perfectly. I would not say there was an amazing flavor going on there but it tasted just like a steak should. One weird thing was they did not ask me how I wanted it cooked. I was told this was a fancy enough place where they are all medium rare. If that is not your thing or you are visiting from out of state like some of our guests were, you may want to speak up and order it differently if needed. I was told my our guest in Texas that not asking how you want your meat cooked is a big no no there but maybe it is a thing here? If I am in the mood for a nice dinner in this area, I will definitely be back. Parking was convenient as they have a lot out front. read more

I was taking a staycation about 10 miles from my house at a local hotel. Went out for dinner and came upon this restaurant on a fluke. It was extremely good. A very positive experience. Friendly staff, multiple offerings of food and drink that accompanied each other and was obviously a "local's favorite". The atmosphere wad lively, yet elegant at the same time. I had the salmon which was prepared medium-rare, had the perfect amount of sauce, definitely was fresh and served with a small nicely prepared potato/vegetable mix. Very good salmon. You've heard of the 'clean plate club' when every bite is finished but have you heard of the 'clean container club'?!? In these new challenging times this is what you have strive for I guess and Russell's nailed it! It was hard to tell if the containers did in fact have any food in them before dinner because they were pretty much licked clean. Every bite was better then the last! The cuts and preparation looked as if every second was clearly counted and planned for. The fish was so smooth and delicious. This was one of the only meals where my family was too busy scarfing down every last bite instead of arguing or yelling about something - that takes some serious talent because yes my family likes to eat but boy do they did they like argue and bicker! There was absolutely no better way to celebrate our mom! For once, she sat down for dinner with us without having to worry about serving dinner or worrying about if it was good because everything was just absolutely perfect! Usually something, even take out from a restaurant that you're used to has something that gets comments from somebody -- "too salty, too much sauce, not enough of x,y,z," everyone always has something to say but with 5 people eating together -- there were NO negative comments -- some sort of Mother's Day miracle! If anything there were trade offers of "how about a piece of steak for a piece of fish?" Just WOW. Would give Russell's 6 's if the app let me. I've never had a bad experience in the restaurant as the food is always personally catered to my liking but given these times you never know how take out will be and I was simply blown away. If you haven't yet tried the food here, what are you waiting for? Order and pick up was super timely and easy! I used to work in the Canyon Park / Bothell area in the 1990s, but never have been in this area. Definitely growth is evident with all the housing development and business park buildings surrounding the restaurant. I can't comment on the main dining area and what cuisine they serve. We were seated upstairs in the high ceilinged venue. After the business portion of the event, we were presented with a catered late afternoon hors d'oeuvres and dessert buffet with beer/wine service.
