When they came out they pretty much immediately discovered that someone had shut off my gas. They were at my house for a little under a half hour and charged me $250 to turn the gas lever on. When I asked for an explanation of cost they told me they actually lost money on the call because it took the technician 45 minutes to drive to my house due to snow. They also said they lost money on the call because it costs at least $300 to have someone drive to a house and walk in to provide a service regardless of how long they are there or what the issue is. Obviously I had no way of knowing that it was going to snow when I made the appointment/my furnace stopped working or that the technician didn't live near me. I'm still not sure why that would be factored in to the price. I would have preferred to move the appointment if I had known I'd be charged more due to snowy travel times. I would have also like to know that it was going to cost hundreds of dollars regardless of the problem. I was very surprised because I had such a great experience with them before as far as pricing and explanation and felt taken advantage of this time. I value the work of electricians and technicians but $250 to turn on a gas lever in under a half hour seems very steep to me.

After moving into my recently purchased house, I needed to have the furnace and a/c cleaned. I asked a journeyman electrician friend for a recommendation knowing that he often wires furnaces and a/c systems, and he immediately recommended Erives Heating and Air. I called and was able to easily get an appointment within six days. The technician, Coco, arrived as scheduled and was very friendly. He explained what he was going to do, asked if I had any preliminary questions, and then went straight to work. When he finished, he showed me how to operate all the different components since I am new to the house and the system has some accessories. He explained in detail what he did during the cleaning, including cleaning and checking the electrostatic air cleaner and UV light. He removed the electrostatic air cleaner inserts and showed me how to clean them and told me how often. Due to a snow storm and low temperatures, Coco was unable to service the a/c system, but we scheduled a future date to return to do that. Update: Coco came back out and cleaned and checked the a/c system with the same professionalism as with the furnace. He even went as far as to verify the correct part number for a replacement accessory with his supplier to ensure I was purchasing the correct part. He didn't have to do that, but he went out of his way, which shows his character well. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the service and professionalism of Coco from Erives. I plan on using Erives and requesting CoCo for any HVAC needs I have in the future or if I need a contractor recommendation if they don't perform a specific service.

I got a second opinion on the furnace from a company who certified that the unit was totally up to code and the flue pipes were positioned just fine. GE might be great at work that IS needed, but you should get a second opinion.

We added a Trane heat pump, via a longish run through the crawl space to a Trane coil on top of an Amana variable speed furnace. The crew tied all the equipment together in synch very well.
