I have ate here a few times when passing through Columbia and I've enjoyed it. The food is always fresh and the restaurant is clean. I recommend anyone to eat here if they are passing through. The shakes are good for a desert and hamburgers are really good. read more

My fiance and I went to eat there tonight and we were informed very rudely by the manager that they had already locked the doors because they closed down the dining room with people still inside.. we left and will NEVER return after being spoke too in such a rude manner to the manager if you hate your job so much just quit. read more

Traveling through in my RV to bike week...this was my first visit to a Rush's ever. I parked and my wife mentioned we needed to dump the RV trash basket.. so I took the little office basket of trash to the dumpster behind their restaurant..and carefully dumped it in. Big mistake. The manager, Steve, comes out and get in my face yelling that he does not come to my house and dump his trash, and so on. He yells "how would you feel if I came to your business and dumped trash!?" ...I calmly told him that if you were a customer..and it was a small amount of trash from your RV..I wouldn't mind at all... He then realized how ridiculous he sounded and said he didn't know we we customers..even though I had told him we were eating there up front. Seemed a little heavy handed and rude for someone just dumping a little office wastebasket of trash from an RV in my opinion. Had I been dumping large BAGS of trash and waste, OR dumping while driving by (not parked like a customer would)..I would agree with Steve. Keep in mind there are no signs on or around the dumpster saying "authorized use" or similar wording. Steve should assess the situation first and think before he talks in the future. Never had a bad experience or a bad meal here. The place is locally owned and full of regulars. It's not on the low-calorie or high-end, but rather a classic southern-fried type of establishment. The double chili cheese burger is worth every calorie. Lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard and onion come standard on their chili cheese burgers which is somewhat unusual -- but I love it. The unsweet tea comes with a fresh lemon slice (I assume the sweet does, too). You'd be hard pressed to find that standard at any other fast food joint as greedy business owners look to cut corners -- not Rush's! Oh, and if you get a plate, swap the standard coleslaw out for potato salad. They use dill in their potato salad recipe and it's delicious! read more

As long as you don't mind waiting up to 20 minutes for chicken, this is a perfectly fine fast food joint. Once you do get the chicken, it's usually awesome. After purchasing dinner here (and waiting the obligatory 15-20 minutes) as much as 7 times a week for a couple of years, I finally got fed up with them constantly being out of chicken at any given time of the day or evening. So I did what anyone would do...I spent about 3 hours meticulously combing through my online bank statements and created a spreadsheet with all data from every charge to Rush's over the previous 6 months. I fugured this would account for about 60% of actual purchases as I usually used cash while out for lunch but a card for the family dinner. All told it was over 100 charges and $2,100. Next I took the logical step of sending this data by emailing directly as well as their online contact form 5 times over 2 months and sent via fax once. All correspondence included my name, address, phone and email. At this time (well over 6 months later) take a guess at how many times anyone, ANYONE from Rush's has attempted to contact me for any reason. Zero. No F-you, no sorry, no we don't care, no nothing. So in my own little way I got back at them. I haven't purchased so much as a milk shake in over six months. No stops coming home from work to get the family dinner. Been mixing it up a little. Found some new places. Some good. Some not so good. But most importantly, the money is spent but not at Rush's. read more

Nothing but great things to say about this Rush's. It has an "old-school" feel with orders called out via intercom to the cooks. Kitchen is in plain sight of customer view. The Rush's brand is unique, because you can get everything from Burgers to Hot Dogs to Barbeque. And it's all fast and hot. Their sweet tea is amazing. The drive-thru can get long, but the team does a great job quickly serving so many hungry customers. Location is outstanding, especially if you happen to be on Harbison Blvd running errands. Parking is abundant and free. The price is right ~ a party of two can easily eat for $15. Highly recommend this Rush's location. read more

I wonder how many people have gotten curb rash on their rims from that stupid and completely unnecessary drive thru curb at the Rush's Sunset Blvd location. Judging from the layers of rubber mixed with chunks of concrete missing form that curb, probably at least half of lexington. I don't usually do reviews but that stupid curb rashed up my new Audi rim. That pissed me off so bad I didn't even get any food. I will never go back there again. That's how bad that pissed me off. I have went through this drive thru in 3 vehicles I own along with my new Audi. At some point or another I have kissed that fkn curb. With this last time in my new car, I am officially done with this place. It makes absolutely no fkn sense to have such a narrow a$$ curb that you must navigate so tediously just to get a gd hamburger. One place I truly miss living in Charlotte is the fast food chain Rush's. It serves a wide variety of fast food cooked the way fast food was cooked when it wasn't fast food. I'm talking burgers on a griddle, thrown on a bun & steamed to toast the bun & melt the cheese. Milkshakes that are thick and delicious. Fried chicken & hot dogs that remind you of old drive-in's. I am particularly partial to the double cheeseburger, fries, Dr. Pepper, strawberry shake & hot fudge cake, but their chili-cheeseburgers, chili dogs & banana splits are good too. I only mentioned the Dr. Pepper because some places just HAVE good fountain drinks. I think the same thing about the Coca Cola from McDonald's. It just tastes different than anywhere else and are both favorites. I've eaten at many of these restaurants, but this is one of two that I grew up on, so I can vouch for it. Stopped here on the way to the beach. Good restaurant. They only had drive thru during coronavirus. Literally lines of cars down the street waiting to get into the drive thru. Popular place. I had a burger and it was pretty good. Not the best burger I have ever had but still good. They messed up my mom's order and gave her a chili dog instead. That was the biggest disappointment. Otherwise it was a pretty average place. Not huge portions but still good burger. read more

I got a 3-pc chicken basket and as I was eating my first piece, I saw something weird. It didn't look like regular chicken meat so I took a closer look. It definitely looked like some kind of chicken organ. I completely lost my appetite and I took it back to the restaurant. I did not expect anything besides an apology and for the manager to say that he will at least try to investigate further into it. However, he seemed very defensive as soon as I told him. He apologized at the very end when I asked him why he was giving me an attitude instead of being apologetic. Rush's is a delicious gem in the Columbia area. The food is delicious, the servers friendly. It is somewhere between a diner and a fast food joint. That happy medium. The burgers are good, especially the chili cheese burger ( gasp I know the cholesterol). Note that the chili is an all meat chili. The chicken sandwich is surprisingly good. The fries are the best part. Not a puny shoe string but a solid fry. They go best with salt and vinegar doused on them. A great place to go if you want something fast but don't want any of the commercial giants. A personal favourite when I am on town. read more

I love Rush's most of the time. My recent visit to the Harbison was my worst experience in more than 25 years. First of all the place was a total mess and don't get me started on the bathroom. I've been in cleaner in the NYC Subway. The service was horrendous. One register open with many employees just standing round. More than 10 people waiting to place an order while the manager just watched. He didn't even try to take an order or get someone else to. Very disappointing from a place that is usually always above average. They need to take a look at the Chick Fil A across the street for some tips. read more

The woman who took our order was extremely rude and short with us. There was absolutely no reasoning for this as they were not busy and everyone else there seemed to be in a very good mood. I liked my burger. The shake was good too. They are a bit too slow on acknowledging people when they are arriving at the counter. And not just me. I mean everyone in front of me in line. and All the people I watched while I ate my meal. There was 8 employees and a manager on duty. and business was on the not busy side....wasn't like this was a lunch time rush or anything. And still EVERY employee just looked down and would not acknowledge there was someone at the counter waiting for help. but again, the food was good and the wait for getting it once it is ordered was not a problem. read more

Been going to Rushs on Harbison for about a year now. Usually order the fried chicken basket which is really good. Every now and then I order a banana split in a cup. Well, seems the ice cream just melts too fast in the plastic cup they serve it in, so I request a styrofoam cup instead. Had gotten it in this cup for at least 3 times, and the other night I was raked over the coals by the older lady with short hair at the window. She stated, we can't do that. I stated I would pay extra for the change and again she said, we don't break the rules here for anybody. I told her I'd not had this problem before and she was just so rude to me. She finally fixed the banana split in the styrofoam cup but stated that wouldn't happen again. I don't feel I asked for anything outrageous but was made to feel very bad. read more

Used to be great food and very good service. The food is still good, but the service has taken a dive. I think there are just too many kids running the place who just don't care. In my case, I went in and asked for an order - granted it was not a menu number, but a "normal special." The first thing I hear is "you can't have that." I asked in credulously, I can't have that? He repeated back what I wanted - actually getting the order right. But repeated that I could not have my order that way. I told him that's what I want. Just figure out how to bill it. By this time two other customer service personnel came over and showed him how to ring what I wanted. No big deal, I smiled at him and he just scowed. By now he had shut down and decided he was not going to talk to me anymore. No matter what I said, he just ignored me - not even looking at me. I waited in the drive through for twenty minutes, only to be asked to pull to the front for four hotdogs. I called the store while out front only to be sent to a voicemail twice. Another place I have eaten at since I was a kid. The slogan says it all, "fabulous food, fast...," Rush ' is only located Gere in the midlands do I consider it our little gem. It's funny, when any of my family comes down from NY it's never Chick fil La it's always Rush ' being the first place they want to vi sd it, I swear they fast for days in anticipation of a child cheese burger and fried chicken from this place. It is a little on the higher end price wise but it shows in the quality of food they serve. And I love how they keep it original and basic starting with the p ad per hats all the way to the microphone call on ordering process. I haven't been to Rush's in a while... now I remember why!! They are terrible! The food used to be good but trust me, they went WAY downhill. My fries were raw and greasy. Limp, wet fries! My cheeseburger was so soggy the bottom bun fell apart. I know this is fast food but shouldn't it be edible?! My burger patty was burned and also greasy. My stomach hurts. I will NEVER EVER EVER visit another Rush's again. Their standards are gone. And their prices are high for American slop. Shame on you Rush's! read more

Ummm...nothing special here...tried the double cheeseburger platter....the burger (meat) had no flavor...almost watery tasting...it wasn't bad, but not any better than any other fast food place. Service was fast, people were friendly, however, I wont be going back any time soon. read more
