We have been going to Runyons for over 25 years and have never been disappointed. The bar is always lively and fun with great bartenders (Bo, Odie, etc) who actually do buy backs unlike many other bars and restaurants recently. Great bar menu with the best sliders we've had at many similar locations. The main menu hasn't changed in years but doesn't really need to except for maybe adding onion rings which are not offered. The Chef Sandwich is a must for steak sandwich lovers, especially if you add melted mozzarella cheese to it, as is the Tortellini ala Runyons. Overall great neighborhood feel. read more

Runyons is simply a solid meal. Nothing to adventurous but consistently good. I have been a number of times with my wife and row young kids and it's always at worst decent. Went to dinner with my boyfriend for our birthdays tonight and had a wonderful time. Our waitress, Shannon, was delightful and helpful. We asked a question, and she made sure to find the answer for us, letting us know it was only her second night. Kudos to being truthful and making sure we were well-informed. The food was delicious. We had the wedge salad, Cesar salad, and shell steak. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the horseradish sauce that came with it was delicious. The manager stopped by to check on our meal, as did Shannon, multiple times. The only downside to the evening was when we walked in and stopped at the bar to have a drink before we had dinner. I sat down and my boyfriend went to the restroom. I sat there waiting to order us a drink and the bartender set down napkins in front of me and continued talking to the man next to me. He then walked away and was serving others, never coming back to me. When my boyfriend came back, he asked if the drinks were coming, and we then saw him doing shots with the other customers. We never got those drinks, and went to the dining area to have our dinner. I understand that you were busy with other clients, but to be doing shots when other customers are waiting to be served is unprofessional. Real bartenders don't drink on the job. Regardless, we will make sure to return to the restaurant, but will be skipping the bar. read more

Steaks were fantastic and so was the meal!! Service was negative sub par! Being kind taking the order, and dropping the food at the table doesn't justify a good tip. 17 minutes waiting for a check, a bit much but letting our soft drinks go empty for 11 minutes during the meal was a huge F.U. Passed on desert. I've been here a few times, but valentines with my daughter and they weren't that busy? So thanks to the waiter who had no time for us, enjoy your $11.00 tip that you didn't deserve, but I wouldn't leave nothing. No matter how good the food is, service is why people don't return. While waiting for my sister to finish up with her hair cut and color (which by the way looked fabulous) i went online and decided to revisit this haunt. So we met up there. She was already at the very welcoming bar waiting for me with the requisite glass of wine in hand. I came in and we waited for a hot minute to be sat until the nice bartender with the shorts (go you) had someone seat us. We didn't get the crudite unfortunately but i guess since it was lunch oh well. We got the wing trio which had peppercorn something, some blue cheese stuff and my favorite the asian dressing. Wings were fat and crunchy and hot and good. Nice meaty little buggers. Then i got the meatloaf hero with brown gravy and ff and she got the pulled port to which she inhaled in less than a few minutes. i was full of chicken meat so i only nibbled on my hero but dont you worry that shit will hit the spot tomorrow when i wake up hung over and hangry. Our server was Tyler i think cute kid with earrings. He got his pager on at the table and we giggled cause my restaurant does the same shit when food is ready. I went there the other night and as I was waiting for my girlfriends inside the entrance way which was right near the bar area, a number of the people at the bar area were yelling the F word at the top of their lungs over and over again. I complained to a number of people who worked in the restaurant and no one said anything to the guys cursing so finally, I had to ask for a table. Then, when my friends arrived, it turned out that the restaurant was out of cappucino and another alcoholic beverage that we had ordered. The worst part was after we ordered other drinks, when the bill came, the server still had the two items the restaurant was out of on the bill, plus the substitutions. The other negative is how expensive the prices were in this restaurant that is more of a pub type of place than upscale restaurant. A large number of the entrees were over $20 with quite a number over $25 which is way too expensive for this type of place. In addition, the restaurant is in dire need of a renovation and that is yet another reason that it should not be charging the high prices it charges for food in the dining area. read more

We had my daughter's Bridal Shower at Runyon's yesterday. I can't say enough about this place. They have an amazing private room that was great for our garden party theme. The service and food were awesome. Prices were reasonable, and they were very flexible and easy to work with. I like that they have an outside door to the private room. I can't say enough about how great Runyon's was for my Mom's 90th birthday party. We reserved the back room and Liz, the manager, made sure that everything was the way we wanted it, right down to finding some last minute colored tablecloths. The wait staff was extremely attentive, drink orders were prompt and the food was great! We offered the sirloin steak, salmon, a chicken dish and pasta for vegetarians. I think everyone either ordered the sirloin or salmon and there wasn't a complaint amongst any of us. We brought in our own cake for dessert and Runyon's cut and served it with the ice cream that comes on the catered menu. Good job!! read more

We came back very soon after our last visit along with four other couples for a New Year's Eve dinner. We had an early seating and asked asked to finish by 7:30 to make room for the second seating; not a problem since we started a 5PM. At 7:45, we vacated the table. Multiple rounds of drinks added to the tab, yet the total bill, including the tip was inline with costs for a New Year's Eve meal. The menu was price fixed, yet the manager accommodated one in our party who has a restricted diet. We called ahead to make the arrangement for the off-fixed menu. Been here before and the service was great, the prices were reasonable. Last night my fiance and I went for a late dinner. She ordered the steak salad with dressing on the side and very well done. She had to send it back 3 times because they either put dressing on the salad and the steak was pink as can be. The waiter did not even try to accommodate us by giving us a drink on the house. I would like to choose negative stars, but that's not an option. This place is more of a pub than restaurant, yet whoever owns this place must think it's a four-star restaurant as the quality of the food, or the lack thereof, did not justify the prices! The "sweet potato bisque" soup was more of a Campbell's tomato type soup. My Billy Goat Salad was nothing to write home about, unless you LOVE dandelion leaves. My husband had the wedge salad. A 1/4 of a head of lettuce, a drizzle of bleu cheese dressing, a few itty bitty pieces of tomato that were so tiny, he had to taste one just to be sure that's what they were and some bacon bits. He asked for Italian dressing but was given balsamic vinaigrette. Food runner said they reserve Italian dressing only for special occasions! WHAT? What "restaurant" doesn't offer Italian dressing? He could get Italian dressing at McDonald's! Truth be told, the food runner did get the Italian dressing, but acted as though he were doing my husband a huge favor and it all went downhill from there! I guess now I remember why we stopped going there, and why on a Saturday night the place was almost empty. Never again! read more

One of my very favorite Long Island Restaurants. With a lively bar scene up front, Runyons manages to also have a warm, fun and romantic restaurant tucked behind it. The "new american" menu always has some interesting offerings. Do they offer a good burger and steak? Sure. But some of the other offerings are quite tasty as well, such as the twin Pork Chops. The seafood dishes are usually quite good. Before the meal (at dinner) they will bring out a warm loaf of bread and a crudite of veggies and a "house dressing" which you can also get on your salad. I prefer to sit in the cozy booths within the main dining room area, as the "back room" can get drafty and cold, plus your waiter or waitress, they don't make the rounds as much back there and you can end up waiting long periods for soda refills or to make a request. A few years ago I would have rated this place a five. Although still delightful, its not as classy as before....maybe its that big flat screen tv now glaring the yankee game five feet away from my candle lit booth. Maybe its getting a side of broccoli on a recent trip, that was not fresh, vibrant and green. They are slipping. When did Runyons become Dave & Busters? read more

Whenever I am in town visiting family I come to Runyuns with my mom and sometimes some friends. The service is quick and friendly and the food is great. Its a small restaurant with a full bar and daily specials. The prices are very reasonable and ive never been let down by the food or service. You just don't find pubs like Runyon's anymore! The hospitality of this place is like finding a lost art. The bartenders are extremely personal and friendly and the beers couldn't be colder! My boyfriend and I are visiting from Florida and have visited Runyon's twice now and will keep coming back whenever we come to visit my family in Seaford. Went to 10 Irish bars on St Patrick's day in Manhattan and this gem in Seaford is the best BY FAR! Highly highly recommended. So disappointed Been coming here for years and it is no longer the same. We arrived around 8pm. After being seated we waited a bit for the server to come over. She seemed annoyed we weren't ready to order our entrees after placing our drink order. I watched two tables get veges with dip and breadbasket. The drinks arrived by a food runner who poured my Cosmo into the glass from a small shaker and went to take the shaker which still had the remainder of the Cosmo with him. I said hey wait a minute. We laughed still no veges and dip/bread basket I went to find the server. She apologized and said she'd bring it over. When it arrived the flatbread was stale. I watched two servers sit down at the booth adjacent to us talking to customers for a long time ignoring their customers. The hostess did this as well. We ordered our favorite the Rhode Island calamari for an appetizer and asked for the aioli sauce on the side. When the calamari arrived it look so unappetizing. The calamari was soaked in this oily sauce. I asked the food runner for the aioli sauce I asked for he told me you have to ask your server for that. I said I did but you didn't bring it. I guess he told her because she came with it. By now I was just done. I ate 5 pieces of that calamari. I knew it wasn't good to eat. I told my boyfriend to stop eating it. He was sopping up the oil on a napkin. Our entrees came. Sesame shrimp and mile high mile high meatloaf. Both entrees are so overpriced for what it is and the service given. Needless to say I have stomach pain since Saturday night. It's Monday and I'm still in pain. I'm so disappointed and angry I even ate that calamari. I was trying to make the best of a bad experience at Runyon a place I loved. We will not be back. read more

This was my first visit to Runyons and I will be definitely be back. My friend and I were greeted quickly with a smile and seated in a cozy booth. Our adorable waiter was very pleasant and attentive. Monday is pasta night and my friend had a salad, entree, glass of wine and coffee for only $10.95. We were served chilled vegetables with dressing and warmed bread, flat breads and butter. My steak was topped with fresh batter dipped fried onions and it was delicious and cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were seasoned and delicious. Can't say enough good things about Runyons! We live on the North Shore of Long Island but whenever we want to meet friends who live on the South Shore, we end up choosing Runyon's. Why? Everyone from the managers to the wait staff are so warm and welcoming and the food, whatever we get is always well prepared. We particularly love their hamburgers (gotten better over the past year - bigger and more flavorful!), and they are so accommodating when requesting substitutions. Their answer is always "no problem!" Whether there on a Saturday night or another day of the week, we have an opportunity to sit and talk with friends. Never any rushing! How nice is that?! The food was delicious, the private room perfect for up to 40 (30-35 would be better), and our server was so attentive! No one ever had an empty glass. I patronized this establishment on November 21, 2015. Very disappointed. Our waitress took our order never to return to check to see if we were happy or needed anything after our meals came out. A person from our party ordered the pork chop. It was so tough, she couldn't even cut it. She couldn't even eat it. The bus boy came to the table to see if he could clear anything multiple times. We said no in hopes of our waitress coming back so we could tell her. The waitress never returned. The maitre'd came over to see how we were and I said "why are you asking?" I said it jokingly because I thought he noticed her plate. He responded "I'm just asking." With that I responded "she does not like her meal, she can't even cut her meat." He responded with "the pork?" And asked if she wanted something else. And she responded "No!" He then left the table, never to be seen again. The waitress appeared to just drop off the check. The check that included the $26 inedible pork chop that went into the garbage. Not even an offer of a free drink, dessert or to take it off the tab. Needless to say, they will not be seeing us again. My two stars go out to the portion size and great mixed drinks. As far as the rest of my lack of a rating.. we came here last saturday with a party of 15. Disastrous... We had one primary server but we saw like 7 different staff members drop off our food drinks desserts etc and saw the one we tipped for 3 minutes. Apps took a while to come out, then out of nowhere one entree of salmon was ready but not the other 14 entrees. After a while when the rest were dropped off we then had an extra salmon..someone couldnt count. The food itself was eh at best as some things were just barley luke warm, the meatloaf just tasted like a pile of grissel. We watched our server at the bar taking shots as we went to the bathroom too, maybe thats why the salmons were miscounted. We had high hopes as this was the first time here and it was highly recommended from friends in the area should have stuck to our gut and gotten seafood from across the street.
