Restaurant was clean and colorful. The cashier was helpful and food was served fast. Lunch special was 3 (huge) legs, fries and a drink for $8.99. I could not eat it all. Chicken was crispy and tender. Fries were plentiful. Lemon pepper wing was my favorite. You can choose three dipping sauces for your order. I selected: soy garlic, sweet spicy and ranch. I would return. I'd ask for the lemon pepper on my chicken legs.

The Chicken Sando

Review is for The Chicken Sando and the Sweet Spicy wings. This Korean Fried Chicken Sando(KFC style) really hit different. Buns soft, the cole slaw gives it a nice creamy crunch. What sets it apart from other hot chimkin sandos is the batter. Felt almost like a light tempura batter *daddy! Wings were ok, I did like the sauce tho, gonna sauce up my sando next time

Running chicks is hands down one of my favorite fried chicken eing spots. Its crispiness is unmatched, and the soy garlic flavor is the best I've ever had. Ambiance is relaxed and clean. I beleive this location closed though there is still one more in Monterey Park though. If you like soy garlic or lemon pepper, please do yourself a favor and go . Service is noce and friendly, pricing is fair for the lunch combo :].

New ownership?

It seems as if there has been a change in ownership and the new food is not good. My husband and I just wasted our money. We only ate 2 pieces of chicken, 1 each, and he noticed a change with the fries, leading him to go to 5 Guys, immediately after leaving the restaurant, instead. I don't like to post negative comments about someone's business because that's how we make our livelihood, but I also don't want anyone else to waste their hard earned money. We literally threw an entire meal away. We loved Running Chick. It is now called Sound Chicken.

Lemon pepper and sweet and spicy wings, fries and pickled radish. Everything was delicious!
Maira L.

The wings are delicious, they're super crunchy and fresh. We tried the sweet and spicy flavor and lemon pepper. Both flavors were great but their lemon pepper wings are some of the best we've had! Their customer service is impeccable, the staff is friendly and the food comes out fresh and fast!

Sample of lemon pepper chicken wing 3/4/22

OVERALL Running Chicks is a new Asian fusion chicken shop in Downey, CA. While they offer primarily bone-in or boneless chicken wings in three flavors for now - lemon pepper, soy garlic, and sweet & spicy - they will be introducing a chicken sandwich soon if they haven't already. RATING BREAKDOWN | Food: 4 | Service: 5 | Environment: 4 | Price: 4 | PARKING There is ample parking in this area of the Promenade, a shopping center which is right next to another shopping plaza in Downey called Downey Landing.. LOCATION/AMBIANCE This chicken shop is surrounded by a plethora of other eateries in the Downey Promenade shopping center. Their indoor dining area is adorable with murals of cartoon chicks floating through outer space. The lone gender neutral restroom got a bit trashed out by a guy on a wheelchair who went to wash his hands while I was there (3/4/22). THE GRUB + 10-piece boneless wings with a side of ranch dressing and pickled radish ($12.95). I chose two flavors: sweet & spicy and lemon pepper. The batter is not too thick, not too thin. Their seasoning is evenly distributed as well. Even though they supplied the ranch dip, I didn't use it as the flavors do good on their own. No grisly pieces either! + On the side they offer either cole slaw or pickled radishes. Try the pickled radishes... I loved them. - I am not a fan of their ranch dressing that they provided. It's way too sweet. + They did a great job of packing my takeout order. I'll try their fries next time. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB No kid's meals. SERVICE When I walked in I mentioned that an employee at 7 Leaves Cafe said I should try their boneless wings here. A nice young man offered me a sample of the lemon pepper chicken wing. Watch your tongue - they serve it piping hot with the grease still sizzling on the batter. MY FAVORITE PART... I couldn't decide which flavor I liked the most out of the three, but I'd probably have to go with the sweet and spicy even though they weren't that spicy. My 7 and 8-year-old daughters devoured my leftover lemon pepper wings. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The restaurant's name. Lol. TIP Check-in to Yelp for a free wing! I really enjoyed my soy garlic freebie.

First impression: There is plenty of parking in the lot. I liked how they posted their menu on the door/window so that before you even entered, you got an idea of what they had. -------- Food: 5/5 Pepper n lemon fries - goes well with/without sauce (ketchup, ranch). Perfect crispy fries Soy garlic boneless chicken - pretty good! Crispy even when it was covered in sauce --------- Services: 5/5 The cashier who took our order and brought out the food was very friendly, attentive, and quick!

The food was ok. The wings I will say were pretty juicy and super sauced up. However, I feel like the breading of the wing was too thick. The fries were good. Thin with flavor. The place itself is super clean and organized. Plenty of seating and friendly service.

Amazing soy garlic wings. Super cute art inside the restaurant. They are very generous with the pickled radishes. Quick service. Also recommend the garlic fries and chicken sando

Customer service is truly amazing! Super attentive and you can tell they genuinely take pride in the creation of their food and the experience of the customer. Food is also tasty!

Lunch special $8.99. The drumsticks are huge.

Mia and Miguel were incredible, excellent customer service at this place. It was fresh inside, the ambiance was inviting and super clean. We ordered two of their specials. Three fried chicken legs, fries and a drink for $8.99. Let me start off by mentioning the chicken legs were large, tasty, and not dry at all. They gave us dipping sauces which I believe are the flavors they use on wings if you should order them flavored. But, back to the chicken, my honey and I really had to take a lot of food to go because it was so much food for a random Wednesday lunch. I definitely recommend this place for a fast lunch or dinner. Bringing my family for the wings soon!

But are they worth chasing!?!?!?

I wasn't expecting to write a 5 star review. It's a rare accurence for me, but I have to say, I was beyond impressed with this place. First off, I feel I must divulge, this place uses dark meat chicken. This fact I love. The chicken is juicy and tender. I tried their chicken sando and thoroughly enjoyed it. The flavor was great. The sweetness of the slaw and tangy pickles perfectly compliments the savory breaded chicken thigh. We also tried their boneless wings. Also using dark meat. The flavor from the chicken was good, but their sweet and spicy sauce delivers exactly what it's name suggests. The sweet lulls you into a state of comfort before the spicy kicks you in the mouth ( in a good way!) Lastly, I used the check in feature to get a bonus wing and for this one I chose lemon pepper. This was tangy and delicious as all lemon pepper wings are. Again the dark meat chicken was the star for me. I will be back! (Side note) they only have 3 flavors so variety in that area is lacking, but in my opinion, the flavor and juicy chicken bite more then make up for it!

And this time I ordered it with salad. This time around I really enjoyed the taste. The meat was very tender, easy to bite. It has good flavor. You can definitely taste the seasoning and marinate of the meat. I had some of the liempo by itself and I actually paired it with salad (salad which is the side I got). Although upon first glance the salad looks bland, it did have toppings on it. And the dressing was so good. Service was good. I was suppose to claim a free voucher (from the manager) but the worker said my name was there. But she was very friendly in assisting me. Ambiance was okay. Both the shrimp and the pork were cooked perfectly, and they both had their own flavorful sauce/seasoning - very complementary to the protein. The shrimp was wonderfully garlicky! We got a side of rice (two scoops) and a side of salad and shared those, too. Each plate came with a little slaw of marinated veggies. Good portions and reasonable prices. Since it's like a food court you sit outside but it's a very nice area. Service was good! They don't take cash so plan accordingly. Soft drinks by the can and bottled water.

My husband and I have been wanting to try the Ube sliders for a while, and we decided to get that. We also go the Panda Style fries with spam. When we got our food, everything looked so delicious. We've had the Panda Style Fries before. And it never disappoints. The fries have great taste from the seasoning to the sauce. And the spam brings out that saltiness the fries need. I love the grilled onions on top. We usually eat it from the top to the bottom, so we usually don't get much sauce or toppings when we get to the bottom. I think it's meant to be mixed, but we don't want it to get mushy. The be sliders were good. The patty, sauce, and grilled onions were good. The Ube bread didn't have much Ube taste to us (imo). And I felt like I was getting more bread than the actually patty and what was inside the burger. I felt like I could have used more sauce to soften up the dry texture I get from the bed. But overall it was good. This place is located inside the Steelcraft so it has a nice, chill ambiance. The place can get busy, especially when they are showing games. But a nice place to hang out and chill over some food and drinks.
