I called requesting someone come out and check the water level in my well. The appointment was made, then postponed by a day, and then on that day I got a call saying my well was fine, quoting the water level and the gpm, so they didn't need to come out. I asked for some documentation backing up what I'd just been told and I was sent a report, made by Tanko, from 1998, for which they charged me $75. I wrote back saying that the report didn't assuage my concern about my water level as of today, and would still like it tested, and no one ever responded. read more

Rumsey Lang came to my rescue. When a tree came down breaking my water main, they came right out. They quickly found the break. When the water was restored, we found that the pressure pump had burned out from trying to pressurize nothing. They found a replacement, fit it in and things now run beautifully. When I called Rumsey-Lang and told them that I'd been out of water for a month (due to various misadventures with the weather), I could feel the urgency they had. Within a couple hours, I had them up to work on my well pump. They had to come twice because the well pumps they had brought (and the one that I had installed before) were too large for my setup, but I appreciate that they didn't sell me on the more expensive one. In the end, they got it done as quickly as humanly possible and got water back into my home. The only gripe I have is that they had to come back a third time and spent a lot of time (= money) trying to find a leak, which I ended up figuring out (it was an irrigation system that had fell over in the storm). It would have been nice to have the leak tested for and diagnosed the first time they came over, but really, it's my fault for not figuring it out myself. So... I'm buying a property in their area. I needed a well inspected 'cause I had no idea what I was looking at. I had one opportunity (and only one opportunity) to get it checked out... while it was pouring rain... on incredibly short notice... These guys came through! In speaking with Tom, it's obvious that he's been in the industry long enough to know what he's talking about. Jared, his son, was the one to perform the inspection (with less than 24 hours notice, mind you). Jared performed a pretty thorough well test and gave us a consultation for suggested maintenance on the spot. He even accommodated a septic inspector by diverting water from the test site to the septic system. Tom followed up the next day to discuss pump test results, then again the day after to discuss results of a water sample test and a detailed quote for repair work. Even Dawn at the office was pleasant to speak with though I caught her by phone on the way out at the end of the day. Seems like a nice group of people to work with. I have had them out twice to work on our water system. Had an issue with the well. Even though it was not an emergency Tom inspected it the same day I called and had it fixed two days later. He walked me through the issue, explaining in detail how the well worked and what was needed. Next I discovered several leaks at the garden hose bibs. I called on a Saturday, Tom and Billy had someone out on Monday. Fred was great and had it all done in less than two hours. He too walked me through how the well works, found another leak in the drain valve in the pump house and fixed that too. He had all the parts he needed with him, hence no delays! Very impressed! Came home Tuesday to no water, called after hours and left a message. Wednesday morning received a call back, Tom was here by noon (we live in Swansboro) to look at our well. After his inspection and test, it was decided that we needed a new pump :( . He said he would have the office call and schedule installation. I really needed them last week when my well pump failed after 26 years in operation. My well pump breaker kept tripping so I inquired if Rumsey-Lang serviced well pumps, and they do. I was without water and they had two guys onsite within an hour. My electrical box was sending about 40amps when it should be about 11 so they replaced it and I had water again. My old box wasnt sealed well from weather plus it was full of worm cocoons and webs. If you have a well issue- save yourself a lot of time and money. Normal plumbers are not trained to handle well issues. Trust me, last time I had a well issue, the plumber whom I hired ended up leaving baffled. The plumber assumes it's a frozen pipe, and if it is not a problem they can see under the house or in the house, they DO NOT have the knowledge to fix it. I can't say enough about Tom and his service this past weekend. My well stopped working in the middle of the 4th of July weekend and as a recent transplant to the country, I had no idea what to do. I've been considering trying another company to service my well and water softener for the last two years. The guy who owns and does service for the company I had been using is nice enough butt.. he is expensive and honestly I don't think he's proactive enough with his service and troubleshooting. He will fix the current problem and leave festering issues for the next 300.00 service call. Bring in Rumsey Lang. They were very accommodating and were able to get a guy out in a reasonable amount of time. Tom showed up on time and was personable and nice to talk to. It was obvious he knew all aspects of local ground water, well and sanitization equipment inside and out, and was more than happy to explain a lot of things so I could understand them. I'm sold. My water went out in the morning and I work 1.5 hours from my house. My well tank was rusted and spraying water everywhere.....I have to have water in order to have the toilet work and etc. I have children. I called Rumsey well on my lunch break and the owner had had called me back at 530 pm to let me know he was on his way out to replace the tank on a 108 degree day! He kept in contact with me throughout the day and let me know what the plan was. My well got fixed less than 24 hours of the initial phone call......the tank and piping was replaced and he and his technicians kept me informed every step of the way. FABULOUS service. I am in complete shock that this company only has two good reviews. We bought our house back in later part of 2012, so the well/pump was already installed. This weekend we noticed we were completely out of water in our storage tank. We reached out to the previous owners to find out that Rumsey-Lang drilled our well and installed our pump. We called on Sunday afternoon thinking we would just leave a message and Nick answered the phone. WOW was he helpful, kind and caring about our situation. He instructed us to do a couple things before hand to help him isolate the potential issue. We called him back (Sunday) and gave him our findings We knew our location, as he just drilled a new well for our neighbor in the development. He scheduled someone to come out today (the very next day- what service!) The technicians showed up mid afternoon ready to tackle our project. Not only was the lead (Colt) was spot on with knowledge, information and kindness, so was the 2nd tech on the job to help. Colt was happy to answer questions, and his knowledge base was suburb! The scope of the project was identified and repaired immediately. Very few companies completely WOW us, and without a doubt I can say this company did. I only wish I knew of them earlier, as I inherited the well service company that had originally installed the well for the prior owner of my house... until I found Tom Lang.
