Vented 40 gallon propane water heater went out and I contacted about a half dozen plumbing, heating and air companies in my local area . . . Only Donna of 21st Century responded immediately and gave me a "ball park" estimate over the phone, after sending the owner, Robert, photos and a video explaining the problem. The estimate he gave me was outstanding, i.e., I have a buddy in Stockton, whom is a plumber - he confirmed I was getting an excellent estimate, especially since they were installing a Bradley White water heater, which he considers one of the best water heaters available. Fast forward a few hours later, Robert and his assistant, Felix, were at my home with a new water heater, which was still in the box. Although the box was pristine, the water heater was severely dented and damaged (looked like the water heater had dropped 10 feet). Robert said that he was returning the water heater for a replacement heater. A few hours later, Felix returned with a new water heater, again in a pristine box . . . However, it was damaged too. It was late in the day and too late to get a replacement, due to the distributor being closed. Regardless, per Robert, he WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GO WITH OUT HOT WATER OVER NIGHT and he had Felix install this heater, promising me they would return in the morning and replace this one too with a new, pristine water heater. The next day, Felix returned with a new heater, which was pristine, hooked it up and again, per Robert, maintained the price he originally quoted for me. I am so impressed with Robert's honesty and integrity! You hear horror stories about plumbing issues with other companies. I will ALWAYS contact Robert's company for my plumbing, heating and air conditioning issues. They are the best. Robert came to my house and fixed a pinhole leak in a copper pipe that had developed in my wall. He was one of very few local plumbers that actually answered the phone when I called, and made arrangements to come the same day that I called--even after hours, in the evening. Robert allowed me, the homeowner, to help him with certain aspects of the job (like removing the vanity), so that the job could go by quicker. He was very patient and didn't mind me hovering over his shoulder so that I could watch and observe. He also was cool with me doing the drywall repair and was happy to just do the work that I asked him to do (fixing a pipe). I know that some contractors will insist on doing *all* of the work, and will bill you accordingly, even when you're handy and willing to do some of the work yourself. On top of all of this, Robert was very patient and accommodating while I tried to get my Mickey Mouse home warranty company to reimburse me. When the home warranty company insisting on really asinine invoice requirements, Robert was happy to send not one, but three different invoices to satisfy them. I don't have a good basis to judge Robert's pricing because he was the only plumber that I called, but I feel like what I paid was fair based on: (A) the amount of time he spent on the issue; and (B) how far out in the country I am. Finally had a snowfall in Camino. Which is not the time you want to find out that your furnace isn't working, but it IS the time you're likely to find out that your furnace isn't working. Thankfully, Robert was able to make it out the same day, diagnosed the problem (control board on the furnace was shot, which isn't a huge surprise for a 20+ year old furnace), identified an additional issue (furnace was pulling some very dirty makeshift make up air out of the crawl space where it's installed), and gave me a fair quote for all the work. I had a main water line to my house break after the storms. Robert from 21st Century Plumbing was a referral from my sister who raved about him. Donna answered their phone right away and called me back squeezing me into Robert's busy schedule who came out later that same afternoon. Robert showed up with another crew member and said it would be fixed that day. Robert realized right away after digging down about two feet, that he was going to need an excavator as who knows how deep the line was. He left and quickly returned with his excavator. Luckily, he did as the ground had huge rocks that needed to be removed in order to repair the line that was over three feet deep. A part of my line was smashed, so he dug further along to cut it off at a place where the pipe was round. The whole time, Robert was explaining everything and was very personable. He and his partner worked well into the night and repaired the line. They used a shop vac to suck out the dirt in the line to minimize the dirt in the line that would go into the house. We opened all the hose bis first around the house, to flush out any dirt, then inside the house. I was so thrilled that it was repaired that day in less than four hours, as I had to leave town the next morning. He and his partner cleaned up and flattened the area with dirt. I bragged about Robert to all my friends who knew I was faced with this serious problem and he took very good care of me. Robert was so kind and he even gave me a great deal even though it was emergency work and he worked until 6:30PM. Robert also called me the next morning to make sure everything was good. Great team! I used 21st Century Plumbing to solve several significant plumbing issues in my 3000 Sq foot El Dorado County home. I contacted 21st Century because of their reputation. I was not disappointed. Robert (owner) and Felix (skilled Assistant) worked for several days. With this company you get general contractor expertise and true 21st century solutions. This is how companies used to operate long ago. Robert solved my water heater issues (I wanted to go tankless) by recommending and installing a propane based tankless (did not know they existed as opposed to electric). This allowed cost savings in energy and allowed me to maximize the large propane tanks I own and have on my property. They also solved a huge septic line blockage that occurred in this same time period that interrupted the line to septic tank. 21st Century was able to dig externally without tearing up any flooring. While they were here Robert had an excavator and was able to dig out the septic lines and find and reveal the long buried/hidden lids to the septic system for ease of the current problem and future septic service. These men were cordial, supportive, gracious workers. The 21st Century experience was competent, skilled, responsive and well worth calling again. I am a grateful property owner. With years of experience there is nothing they cannot do in home maintenance. Plus, his office support Administrator (Donna) was knowledgeable and really closed me on the propane tankless water heater concept. She was an excellent communicator for the company too.
