6 month update: all is going smoothly with water softener! Original review: We wanted to thank Trevor for his amazing help in installing an Eco Twin 2.0 in our home. Our water is night and day better than it was before. I can drink from the tap with no mineral taste. I can wash my hands without a gallon of soap. I can rest easy knowing my home's plumbing is better protected. The price of the full install was very reasonable and Trevor made scheduling easy. From start to finish Trevor was super helpful and easy to work with. He made an initial consult visit to make sure he knew the house layout and all the materials he would need for the install, and then came out a couple of weeks later to install the unit. One thing I liked is that he is also a licensed electrician, and was able to pull wire directly for the unit and he even installed a new, unused outdoor outlet near the unit solely for our convenience and use. This shows an attention to detail and quality that I really appreciated. The install went smoothly and Trevor gave us a nearly one hour long in-person training on all the things we need to know about owning the water softener. He allowed us to record the video which gave us a ton of peace of mind. Within the same day our water was vastly improved. We also received a followup call from Brenda, one of the owners, and she was very helpful and friendly. This review is long overdue, better late than never! We had our water softener installed back in 2022. To say that it makes a world of difference in our daily lives would be an under statement. Brenda helped us select the proper size based on our household needs. She coordinated scheduling the walkthrough and the installation. I can't for the life of me remember the guy's name that did the installation (bad short term memory lol). I did however manage to take video of his entire post installation instructions (with his permission of course). The day of the installation he arrived on time and was courteous. I had a ton of questions and he took his time answering them thoroughly. Save yourself the trouble and go with The Water Hook Up! I'm honestly perplexed by the 5 star reviews for this company; let me explain why. For reference, I bought the Eco-Twin Whole house system in addition to an under the sink system to have alkaline water. I spent over 5k on all of it and still have to use pumice stones on my toilets and use hard water remover on my surfaces (glass, stone, and fixtures), which I was told I wouldn't need to do. I had my system installed in a new construction home in Dec 2021. Everything went fine for about 6 months and that's when the problems began. In June of 2022 my system had a leak and had to be repaired. Then it worked fine for another 9 months and then had a clog. This is a family owned business, which is why I went with them, but the men who do the labor (father, son, and maybe uncle or grandpa) are extremely rude. Maybe it's because I'm a woman; I'm not sure. But if I have to have my boyfriend here to deal with them then I don't want to be bothered. The last time (March 2023) they blamed me for the clog. It's just a salt based water softener system. I wasn't even sure what I did wrong. I called the wife/mother Brenda and complained. She was nice but didn't seem to care. Overall the company gives mixed instructions on when to add salt, etc., depending on what family member you speak to. I decided to start testing my water and it's hard AGAIN. Which is suspected given how much hard water buildup I'm seeing. This time there is no clog, or leak, and my brine looks "good." I don't even want to deal with the men in the family at this point to tell me the new reason my water is hard. I'm going to scrap this system and look to purchase a different one from another company. Do yourself a favor and buy something better. The Water Hook-Up Last month, we purchased the Eco Twin Filter & Softener System with Electronic Clack 6 Cycle Valve from the Water Hook-up. We purchased the softener to replace our outdated/non-working water softener. We purchased the largest unit, which was pricey, but for our purposes worth it. We also had our non-working RO water filter removed. From start to finish the process was effortless. Brenda, the owner did the pre-site review and discussed the pros and cons of the various options available to meet our specific needs. She was very knowledgeable, professional and pleasant to work with. Once we selected the system, she explained the process and scheduled an appointment for installation. We provided the required deposit. Brenda's husband and son installed our system on the appointed day, and they were on time. Before and after installation all of our questions were answered. And, the son provided an instruction manual via phone scan. He also went over the key points of operations to help us fully understand our new system and gave pointers of the salt for the system. He also reiterated what Brenda stated to feel free to call if we had any questions after installation. Clean-up went well. They took away the old system and left no debris of any type. Removal of our old RO water filter was also perfect. It's been a month and I am so pleased with how the system operates and our water quality. The unit is working as stated in the documentation. Additionally, both hot and cold water are very soft and we love the feel of it. The regeneration cycle is surprisingly quiet, the unit is located in our garage. Our old unit we could hear from the garage during its regeneration cycle. Just as the son explained our cold water was soft immediately, but the hot water in the hot water heater needed to cycle through the system. Once that happened over a couple of days there was a very noticeable difference in the feel of our hot water. Brenda, one of the owner, came out to my house for a free consultation and was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions and concerns. I also purchased a Rubbermaid shed to cover the Eco-Twin system and salt container because I had to install this unit on the exterior of the house. 3 technicians came out to perform the installation. Brenda was very helpful in answering all of my questions. I told her I'm not sure where is my main water pipe and she looked around and showed me where they will drill. On the day of the installation, Calvin and his guy showed up on time. After an hour or so, they told me they drilled the wrong side of the garage (this is the same place that Brenda showed me) because the water main pipe was on the other side. They finished installing at the correct side, but they did a bad job in filling the holes that they drilled wrong. I wished they confirmed the correct location before drilling two big holes through my wall and be more prepare to bring their own ladder. They used my ladder without asking for a permission and left a lot of muds on my new ladder and on my door sensor. read more

After researching several vendors for a whole house water filtration system, we settled on The Water Hook-Up for the system and the install. The reasons we choose them is that: 1) The people at The Water Hook-Up are professional, knowledgeable, open and honest about costs, and product features. Someone ALWAYS promptly answered the phone over the 2-week period when I called them daily with questions about pricing/features/options/long term costs etc. Brenda, who answered the calls, always had the answer, or researched my question(s) and promptly got back to me. This was not the case with several other vendors who were hesitant to respond, or who gave sales orientated responses (trying to up-sell me with stuff I didn't want or didn't ask for). Some took days to respond and some didn't respond at all or my calls went to repeatedly to voice mail. 2) Their products are high quality name brand and competitively priced, especially the long-term replacement/renew costs. Every water treatment system needs to have the filter media replaced, most at 10 years, and The Water Hook-Up had significantly lower long-term costs than any of the other vendors I spoke with. Not just a bit lower, but VERY much lower! I was stunned that other vendors essentially wanted to charge essentially 2/3 cost of a new system to replace the media! And most vendors were very vague about that and I had to continuously asked questions to pin them down on the costs. Not so with the Water Hook-Up, they were upfront and reasonable on the costs. 3) Installation was a breeze and the whole process was smooth and I had my system in two weeks. The install was done professionally and took less than 2 hours, and they even added a controller head that would back flush the filtration media by gallons used instead of by a fixed number of days. They also added about 15 feet of flex pipe (at no additional cost) so that I could route the flushed water onto my plants instead of just down the driveway to the street. 4) I have had the system for about 5 weeks, and it works as it should. Our water (for drinking, cooking, and bathing) is now chlorine free, and we love it! They even have a veterans discount! In Summary: After 30 plus years of home ownership, I have dealt with my share of vendors and contractors and learned a few things in the process. Get multiple estimates, research the company and product and go with the the most professional, reasonable, and down to earth people you can afford. I got a water softener and whole house filtration system installed in 2018 from the water hook up. I noticed in the summer of 2019 that I had to go out almost everyday and reset the GFCI switch so that the system would work. I sent an email to Brenda and she responded quickly and told us that we're close to needing an annual service and sent over her husband to check out the system and find out what was wrong. It turned out that the outlet that was installed was a faulty outlet and it needed to be replaced. They wanted to charge a service fee for this but he decided to waive the fee after we made a big deal about being charged for something that wasn't our fault. It wasn't even a year into the system and I was having issues. The outlet was replaced and it's been working ever since. Fast forward a little and I emailed them on March 2020 to try to set up an appointment for a annual service and no response from Brenda. I called them and left a message around June to try to set up an appointment for a service and received no call back. Brenda must still be bitter about not getting paid for replacing a faulty outlet that they installed. Why not be angry at the company you got the outlet from? All I know is that my system hasn't been serviced in quite some time and now I have to find someone else to do it. I should've gotten my water softener and filtration system from Costco. Better customer service! Update 8/4: I just received a call from Brenda and she was apologetic for what happened. She didn't know what happened to my email or voicemail message that I left but assured me that she wasn't ignoring me. I'm not due for a service until September. She said she'll email me at the end of this month to remind me of when the service is due. After the service is done then I'll update my review again to reflect the service that this company provided. Update 9/1/2020 Brenda came over today and performed an annual service. Update 1/18/2017 Our softener is doing us JUST fine. We had an issue and thought it wasnt working, but they came over to diagnose and it was just the particles in the water that caused build up. Meaning the softener was doing its part of the job, but with new construction around the area, other particles are bound to get in the water. They assured us this would diminish as the construction dies down. Other than that, we just have to really be good and wiping up after so those particles dont build up. They are WAY easier to clean than hard water!!. Review 12/15/2016 *Installation/Service* So far so good! As prior reviews mentioned their service is outstanding. Install was done even earlier than expected. Calvin knows his craft. Quick to answer and full of knowledge. I did SO much research. Initially i was going to buy a softener online, and have a nearby plumber install. However i came to the realization of a few things: 1. Water is an ESSENTIAL resource. THUS why would i have a plumber that doesnt know the product well? 2. If im going to spend a chunk of change on a product online, why not also pay a good price for someone that KNOWS the product to install it? (Wouldnt be able to if bought online.) Therefore, i contemplated and realized that if we are going to pay a good amount for a softener, it should also be installed by a professional, someone whos craft IS water softeners. Not a plumber who just understands the concept. Someone who has BEEN doing this for years. We are so happy we got a softener in Elk Grove. The water is ridiculously hard. We were in our new home only for a week and you can already see the hard water stains! disgusting. We could even taste the hard water when brushing our teeth. ew.
