    Giant prawns@ Rumhouse!
    Spencer H.

Since my friend found out that she has family from Barbados, she's become the "Soca" queen and a Caribbean food enthusiast..lol! That said, Rumhouse has become her favorite restaurant. She was excited to introduce me to a new restaurant since she CLAIMS I always pick..smh! I love Annapolis so checking out Rumhouse was a win for her and a win for me! So Rumhouse is just that, a converted house with several dining tables and a small bar. It sort of reminds me of a smaller "Prime 112" in Southbeach, for those who've been. Definitely not as fancy as Prime 112, but Rumhouse has "Island" charm for sure! The food is pricey but GOOOOD! My favorites were the giant prawns, crab cake appetizer and the lamb chops. They make one hell of a Caipirnanha, which just so happens to be my all time favorite cocktail. Service was impeccable! The owners are a married couple, who just so happen to be an Oral Surgeon and OB/Gyn respectively. The male half was there the evening we came and stopped by to say hello. He wanted our honest opinion and we certainly gave it to him. He was extremly pleasant and sincere. Rumhouse is a very nice addition to the Annapolis restaurant scene and I see why my friend likes it so much!

Hey friends! I was following this place and was excited about it before they opened their doors so I was happy to finally stop by. Rumhouse is an authentic Caribbean restaurant featuring a Trinidadian Chef. I came during restaurant week and they had an amazing lineup of their most popular dishes. We started off with their bread sampler. It was a combination of various pastries including sweet and savory. Every single one was delicious!!! We had house made butter which was complimented the delicious bread nicely. My curry chicken and rice dish was amazing! Best curry I've tasted yet. Rich and authentic. We ordered rum cake and coconut ice cream for dessert. They were so delicious. The cake had a fresh, made with love taste. I love that they used a quality rum. My boyfriend enjoyed his saltfish entree as well! Our cocktails were amazing! Bartender was friendly. Drinks were strong And had amazing presentation. -Customer service was 10000/10. From the host to our server, to the bartender everyone was super hospitable. They treat you like family. -The offer community tables where you have the chance to sit with new people and make buddies. -Interior is amazing, transports you to an island. It's elegant and inviting. -Parking is a little rough, you have to find nearby street parking. -Pricey but worth it. I'm excited to return for brunch. I hope you enjoy!

I love the concept of this restaurant and the overall experience I had! The tip is included in the pricing, which is a really nice touch. What you see is what you pay. The service was impeccable--- I felt welcomed and attended to by everyone I came in contact with. The bartenders were knowledgeable and created unique and great tasting drinks. The decor and vibe of the place was cozy and nicely done. As for the food, it was lot different than what I would aspect from a traditional Caribbean restaurant. As someone who does not eat pork or red meat, I felt my options were limited for entrees. I would come back to try the brunch to try a chicken based entree.

A friend put me onto this spot, so I decided to check it out. Let's start with the good: the service was excellent; our server was friendly, patient, and happy to answer all my questions. The space itself is small but super cozy, which I liked. Oh and I enjoyed my cocktail which was a warm spiced rum drink. Now...the reason I came because I was really looking forward to the oxtail croquettes, only to find out they're not available during brunch . So instead I ordered the jerk chicken and plantain waffles. The chicken? Absolutely delicious, flavorful, and juicy. The waffles, however, missed the mark for me. The plantain waffle paired with the nutmeg syrup was just too much nutmeg, which made it taste gritty and slightly bitter. Overall, I'll be back to try their lunch/dinner and make a final decision.

What a beautiful experience from beginning to end. The outdoor dining is absolutely gorgeous. You can enjoy brunch or dinner on the beautiful patio with family or friends. I love the Caribbean music and atmosphere. The indoor dining is exquisite. The hostess was so warm and friendly. I loved how they were able to accommodate my needs and requests. I find it so refreshing that the establishment is a family business. Jonathan Dean, Director of Hospitality, was so professional and welcoming. And the owners Ed and Coryse, were so kind and generous. All of the staff were full of smiles and seasoned waiters. This restaurant is Tip-Free and proud to provide their staff with great salaries and health benefits. I think that is so impressive. And the food...... amazing. The coconut bread served at dinner is so delicious with the honey butter and the pastry board served at brunch is amazing. The lamb-chops were delicious and cooked to perfection. I recommend that for dinner and the passionfruit french toast for brunch. The shrimp and grits were amazing as well. Creamy, sweet grits made with coconut milk and the spiciness of the Cajun sauce, made for a yummy sweet and spicy blend of flavors. Yummy! The side salad and drinks were amazing. Make sure you save room for dessert or creamy flavorful ice-cream. Then wash it all down with a Coco spice dessert cocktail and cappuccino to end your dining experience. Enjoy!

Amazing Caribbean Restaurant in Annapolis The service was phenomenally good, the staff were friendly, clever and extremely knowledgeable about the food. The main dinning room was beautifully decorated in a very elegantly demure tropical style. The selection of drinks was perfect...with wonderful mojito selections, rum flights and other tropical drinks. The brunch offered familiar foods like chicken and waffles but with a Caribbean Twist. If you are bored with the same ol' life and the same ol' food, I suggest you visit this amazingly delicious restaurant in Annapolis, MD.

Mother's Day was celebrated at Rumhouse and it was a really nice time. They serve a brunch menu on Sunday so please look at my picture of the menu. I love the restaurants decor and quaintness. The tropical wallpaper was everything and the all pink bathroom was so cute. The soca music playing was a delightful bonus. I ordered the monkey bread with Dubai chocolate, an Old Athens cocktail and the shrimp and grits. My daughter had the Trini plate which consists of stewed chicken, macaroni pie and calaloo. Her Trini plate was really good and tasted authentically Caribbean. I was married to a Trinidadian so I know. I enjoyed the overall taste of my shrimp and grits. I actually may start using polenta like them to make mine at home. The one thing I will say is that it could if had 1-2 more shrimp. It comes with four and there was so much polenta left it needed more shrimp. My cocktail was the truth and I loved the lemon balm in it. Service was amazing from the reception desk to our server who took our pictures for us at the end of our meal.

From the moment you walk into Rum House, you're immediately transported to the islands. The ambience and atmosphere are simply beautiful--laid-back, colorful, and effortlessly tropical. You can tell they put a lot of thought into creating a vibe that feels like vacation. The service? A thousand out of ten. Every staff member we encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It's rare to feel so well taken care of from start to finish. Now let's talk food. The oxtail croquettes and the doubles are an absolute must-have--packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and a great way to kick off the meal. And if you have a sweet tooth, do not leave without trying the rum bread pudding. It was rich, indulgent, and full of that warm, spiced rum flavor that ties everything together beautifully. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is because the entrées fell a little flat--they were on the dry side and lacked the bold flavor I was expecting, especially compared to how great the starters and desserts were. I wouldn't recommend them. That said, the price point for everything was very, very reasonable, especially for the quality and experience. I'll absolutely be back--but next time, I'll be sticking to small plates, drinks, and dessert!

Rumhouse is a small and beautiful house restaurant in Eastport, right over the bridge from Downtown Annapolis. The menu features unique Caribbean/Jamaican dishes with "flare". The service was very good, and the atmosphere is chill and eloquent but at the same time lively. They stay busy as patrons go in and out, it's a great place to people watch and have a drink or two, and hang out with friends or a date night. Overall the food was above average but not out of this world, that was my disappointment. Especially with the prices, it's not cheap. The drinks were B- and for that it's worth another visit to try another drink but choose wisely because like the food the drink are beyond overpriced. The bread pudding is made to order which is cool, I didn't have the rum cake but my friends did and loved it. Will I go back. Hmm...yeah they deserve one more try and maybe an updated review but we shall see. For now this is definitely a generous three star establishment. No shade to anyone that goes over three stars...they must not get out much or travel. lol. Until next time Rumhouse. I'll be watching and tasting...by the way those two pieces of shell in my crab and dumpling curry soup not cool. Don't rush the technique.

Recommend Rumhouse! Our group of 4 dined Sunday, 11/2/25 and tried several different cocktails and brunch options and we enjoyed them all! The decor and ambiance give an elevated Caribbean feel. The cocktails were creative and well balanced. My favorite was the Madame Coco - so smooth! I loved the Chicken Roti and my husband had the West Indian Shrimp with coconut grits (shrimp were well seasoned but grits were bland on their own - they are obviously meant to be eaten together, but just an observation). My brother-in-law and sister-in-law had the Crab cake Benedict and Calypso Burger and said those were great too! Can't wait to try the dinner menu

For my husband's birthday , I took him here as he is from Trinidad as we were looking for Caribbean vibes! First, it's more of a Caribbean-inspired restaurant. I loved how it felt like dining in a lively house buzzing with energy. While waiting for our indoor table, we enjoyed amazing cocktails at the bar, and since the weather was beautiful, For drinks, we tried the Rumhouse Punch, Golden Mojito, and The Confidante, followed by appetizers of Island Ceviche and Doubles. For entrées, we had the Trini Pelau and Signature Escovitch, and we ended the meal with Coco's Rum Cake for dessert. Although my snapper portion was smaller than expected for the price and the flavors leaned more Americanized than authentic, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I would definitely go back to give them another try.

Two tiny oxtail croquettes for $24???

I had such high hopes for this new local joint, especially in a town that's been starved of creativity and cultural diversity in its dining scene. First, there were many aspects of our service that felt clunky and uninvested, including a sizeable wait upon arriving on time for our reservation, drinks dropping after food, and a lack of knowledge around many menu items. The menu is staggeringly overpriced, especially in the context of how small portions are. The Doubles were the biggest let down. I crave this delicious Indo-Trinidadian dish of pillowy soft bara (flatbreads) ladled full of chana and various chutneys. I was shocked to see the amount of food that landed on the table for $18 -- two thin, deflated almost crepe-like pancakes, lacking that elasticity, slight rise, and softness to sop up the accompanying curry. And as for that curry and the chutney, they barely filled 1/3 of the ramekins that carried them. All of the above was noticeably under seasoned. Look at the size of these Oxtail Croquettes with Microgreen Salad for $24....... Our server explicitly stated that the "Signature" Escovitch ($48) came without its head, which wouldn't have mattered either way to us--there's a lot of yummy tender meat in a fish head. But! What landed on the table was snapper with the head and the head was what composed most of the plate. The belly meat was meager, and had almost disintegrated because the entire thing was overfried, leaching all that flavor from such a delicate fish. The Trini Pelau for Two ($46) was the only saving grace and I'd like to commend the cooking of its protein. The chunks of chicken and beef in rice were tender and fall-apart. But the dish was nowhere near enough food for two people, and it lacked salt and depth. Furthermore, the pigeon peas were incredibly mushy. To find a half-ring of canned pineapple on the Chef's Side Salad ($16???) was the thing that sunk my heart the most. In theory, a restaurant touting traditional and creative takes on Caribbean cuisine is so sorely needed in this town especially since so many restaurants that boast something similar have menus that are pretty white-washed. But the price point Rumhouse currently sits makes it inaccessible for most Annapolitans. And our experience of a menu that didn't achieve the nuanced flavor and texture-, acid-, and heat-diversity these regional cuisines are known for shows there's a lot of room for this restaurant to grow into itself.

Full On Craft Eats. The Toast online ordering system was easy to navigate and adorned with pictures of every menu item. I could not get past the onion rings on the starter menu hoping they would taste as good as they looked. My friend offered to split the Slammin Salmon sandwich and onion rings since she has had it before and never finished the entire thing. I took her up on it and the order was placed. A quick ask for mom to grab it on the way home and the food made its way back quickly. WOW is all I can say. When you order food to go there is a level of expectation that it will not be as good as it is at the restaurant, especially fries and onion rings. But in this instance WOW. Talk about food that travels well. Fourteen minutes away and the food was still warm, the onion rings were so crisp, and the garlic and dill aioli and onion ring sauce were just right. The Slammin Salmon was served on ciabatta bread that was not too soft not too hard, with salmon cooked perfectly. The lemon dill aioli was a game changer so much that my friend's advice to order extra was well received and committed to memory. The onion rings lived up to the hype, cooked perfectly with a crust I cannot even explain. The kind you bite into without losing the entire onion from the breading. Dip it into the sauce and you have a match made in heaven. Half the sandwich was more than enough but the next day I would have loved some leftovers. Now for the extra razzle dazzle. I left to visit a friend in DC and sent him the menu, shared my experience and he was locked in to try. Online ordering was closed since they were closing at 10pm so I called as a last-ditch effort since the anticipation was already there. The nicest most warm individual answered ten minutes before closing and was more than happy to take my order. She even made sandwich recommendations. I quickly arrived at a shopping center that was easy to get in and out of. Walking in you immediately arrive at the counter and takeout area to your left with a nice bar area a short walk past on the right. The cooks and wait staff were having the best time using the 6/7 saying that was all over social media late last year. They were considerate when they noticed I was in the restaurant, but I assured them I loved their energy. I see why the food is so good because the energy shows it was made with great vibes and laughter all around. As I grabbed the bag to leave the hostess stopped me to add another fork and extra napkins since I would need them to add the pickled veggies on my sandwich. Such a nice touch. Thirty plus minutes to DC and the food still did not need to be reheated. The Mai Thai sandwich was a hit with flavors that married well and the onion rings delivered again. The Spicy Thai wings were good for wings but typical. They had a lot to compete with. They also had holiday drink specials at $2.49 which was a good deal. They also sold smoked oysters at $1.00 each & the server and bartender was very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed this event. We would like to go back and check out the other drinks on the menu as well as the food. Definitely bookmarked this spot for a return visit. There is a parking garage about three blocks away. We paid $12.00 for about three hours. Not bad at all.

All housed in the historic Capital Hotel, newly renovated in November of 2022. The atmosphere here is immaculate. It is a must see when enjoying the sights of Annapolis. My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon after touring the State House. We each ordered the Monkey Smoke (Penicillin), and she ordered a small plate with avocado and lump crabmeat, which we ordered just in time as the kitchen closed between 3 and 4. The standout of the day for me was the old fashioned, made with plum bitters. One of the best old fashioneds I've ever had. The servers were all very friendly and quick. We will definitely come back the next time we're in town, and definitely recommend this to others.

The ribeye steak was fantastic and the sauce complimented it really well. For drinks we had the rum and gin. The gin drink was fruity and my favorite out of the two. The desserts I would give probably 3-ish stars. We had the almond cake and it didn't have much of a taste and the whip cream that came on the side must have been accidentally mixed with something that had processed onions because it had a really strong onion aftertaste. Our waiter was really nice and gave really good recommendations. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back to try out their lunch

Bright and open inside with friendly service. We ordered a handful of mimosas and got a couple of small bites to share. Sourdough Foccaccia - this was pretty good, warm and toasted. Pork Bites - I loved the flavor but thought this was pork belly and not ground pork. Overall, flavor was good but the texture wasn't great. Crispy Kale - this is very popular here and we really enjoyed it. The cumin yogurt really brought it together. Pickled Squid - Not what we expected but I actually really liked this dish. We did also order the Coconut Panna Cotta for dessert. The raspberry was pretty prominent here and wasn't as custard like as expected, just a little too soft but the flavor otherwise wasn't bad. Overall, everything was pretty good and I would visit again to try other items on their menu.
