Besides price, the owner Mike was by far the reason we chose Dreamscapes. His demeanor, professionalism, and attentiveness to our needs paid great dividends as the project moved from the planning stages all the way to completion with all the ups and downs you would expect from such a large project. When we first received Dreamscape's bid we wondered what the catch was since all the other companies' bids were so high even though it was an apple to apple comparison. To say it's the wild, wild west in the construction business is an understatement. The price of materials is the price so once you boil down costs you can see if someone is charging too much. It was refreshing to have a business charge a decent price while being able to make a profit for itself that wasn't going to end up with me sending their kids to Stanford. We had received a separate quote for outdoor lights that Mike was able to undercut significantly. Once work started Mike kept in constant communication with us to let us know what the status of his crew was for the day or week so we could plan our days accordingly. His general labor crew was extremely courteous and professional and cleaned up after each day. His stonework guys were the same and I was so impressed with their work that I added a new mailbox to the contract. Mike also has a crew that does topnotch pavestone work that created the design we were looking for. As with all large projects, not everything went according to plan but this is where Mike's professionalism took over. Mike never asked for more money if an item was over budget or his guys had to fix mistakes. He always accepted responsibility as a business owner which says a lot about his ethics and it's evident he takes pride in his company. Dreamscapes turned our yard into a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy during any season. Don't hesitate to call Mike and have him bid on your project. You will be treated professionally, honestly, and will not be ripped off. **********Update 15 September 2017******** Had an issue with our fountain light and Mike fixed with no questions asked and without any of the usual contractor BS. Some areas of the yard were a little sparse on the mulch due to settling and Mike came out with a full pallet of mulch and took care of the problem. Some of the irrigation lines his sub installed were having issues and Mike made sure they were taken care of. He has a good working relationship with his subs which is reassuring. It's great to finally work with a business owner who actually gets that by treating his customers fairly he will get more business and referrals.

We signed the contract and put a deposit for half the entire amount. After we signed the contract and put in our half deposit, we were informed that 2 of our windows are arched and Andersen 100 doesn't make arched windows. They said we could replace our front of the house windows with Andersen 400 or Simonton. Simonton is supposedly a less expensive window than Andersen's 100 series. But, they quoted us a higher price to replace the front windows with Simonton than we were quoted for the same windows in Andersen 100. We ended up ordering Simonton Windows with grids for our entire house. We had already paid ($15,000) from our original contract and we were locked in with JP Exteriors. On window installation day, we noticed that there was one window at the front of the house missing a horizontal grid. They let us know that they could get us a "great price" to replace the window that we had already paid for with the proper grid. They also left several small projects unfinished including painting the trim around 2 windows, filling interiors holes around 3 windows, fixing an interior window sill that was damaged during window installation. Ultimately, the window that was missing a horizontal grid was replaced at no additional cost to us and the remaining unfinished items were all competed in a satisfactory manner. However the replaced window that was missing a horizontal grid has now been replaced and the vertical grids on the top window are not lined up with the vertical grids on the bottom windows (See photos below.) It looks terrible and is at the front of our house. We wanted to love JP Exteriors based on their 5 star reviews, but unfortunately, we have had a 1 star experience. Update: They have said that they will fix the window so that the grids line up. If this happens, that will be good.

We decided to go with MP Drywall & Remodeling base on the great reviews and reasonable estimate. As well, we could tell Mark's crew, Anton, was professional and skilled. As nature of construction jobs, there were A LOT of details. Although we tried to be thoroughly about every detail, there were still a few things we missed and misunderstood. Mark was able to help us over the things we missed or misunderstood and he was great at communications. Most of the time, Mark always got back to us in timely manner and we could be worry free about getting in touch with him. All his crews were working diligently. Our old patio was demolished in 2-3 days and they took care of the debris well, especially compared to our past experienced from other contractors. We have experienced many contractors always very good at talking and promising on the quality of their works. Only Mark and Anton were the real deal for this matter. They didn't over talk, especially Anton. He normally didn't talk much, but worked diligently and showed his care and proud for the quality of his works. They used the quality materials and paid attentions in details and what we mentioned or commented. There was some delay, but you could tell Anton really wanted to get the jobs done as scheduled. We understood sometime things couldn't go as planed. Anyway, one person of his crew showed up before time every single day, really every single day! We have never experienced that with any other contractors. So far more than 2 times of remodeling our house, Mark and Antonio is the best working team we have ever experienced. We can't say that there wasn't any problems during their working, but when the problems occurred Mark would try his best to get the problems solved. Finally, our new screen room was done beautifully. Neighbors came over to take a look and we have got compliments for our new screen room. We learned to be even more thoroughly for our next project too. We didn't want to be a client who always added more things to get done after signed an estimate. Certainly, if we have a next project, we will call MP Drywall again. We recommend MP Drywall and Remodeling company to anyone. In short: MP Drywall and Remodeling are: - Great Communication and Responsively. - Reasonable Price, importantly with One year warranty! - Very High Responsibility. We could tell Anton really wanted his projects to finish as soon as he planed and as best as he could. - Skilled and Professional.

In the past I've had contractors that I'm just ready to write a final check to, say "get out of my life, it's not you, it's me," and never see again. Make a break-up mixtape (Fleetwood Mac-"Little Lies"). Get over it. Not the case here. Jared and the crew at Fit managed to get our 1967 home's still mostly 1967 bathroom updated with a fantastic new walk-in shower converted from the cast iron tub, and everything else, in 3.5 weeks. The shower rework involved a premium tiling job and fixture placement that makes it our favorite thing about the bathroom. Even so, the rest of the tile floor, repair and replacement of sheetrock, trim outs, and other detail work were well executed and done to my specifications. The work looks even better than the scale drawing I created to plan out the changes. I also think this is the first time a contractor has used the brand of paint (Benjamin Moore) I wanted upon request, rather than having me go to buy it-a small but important detail when you have a particular color palette in mind and are picky about such things. Jared does a great job of juggling the details and scheduling, and he's also great with communication when you reach out to him. I would recommend early communication about what fixtures, tiles, products, etc. you need to obtain so the work can run smoothly. While we didn't use them, they do have an in-house design team that can help with the process, but I came in with a fairly detailed vision. Everyone was great about coming up with solutions for anything that came up between plans and installation, which is how the shower came out even better with a great niche and a nice curb to wall feature that allowed more of my favorite tile (the smaller mosaic) to be showcased. They do a great job integrating Schluter trim/edging across the board for a uniform look and superior water resistance, and nobody griped about the epoxy grout that I wanted and provided. It is more expensive and can be a pain to install and clean up, but even there things went well and the white epoxy grout will be much easier to keep clean and will control moisture superbly. We had a new puppy in the mix, and our cat, but all the workers were careful about keeping doors shut and cleaning up at the end of the day. The puppy was unhappy that he couldn't "help" and the cat was grumpy about anyone else in his house, so he stayed under the couch, but they made it through well, and I appreciate the contractors' awareness. I found the pricing to be competitive, and Jared worked with us on changes as needed, reworking figures depending on how some discoveries went. Even so, the final amount wound up on target. I'll call on them again for projects in the future, and, as finding remodelers goes, I would say there's no greater recommendation than wanting to stay in the relationship. Cue "Seven Wonders" on the mixtape.

I was not satisfied with way the master bathroom tile in the shower and floor turned out. Big gaps in the grout and against the floorboards, no apologies, and just excuses. Also, wasn't happy that I didn't receive the vanity we discussed-- I requested a floating vanity and was told that was what I was getting, but that is not what was delivered. The workers left a pile of their meal garbage in the work area each day and left garbage from the work they did scattered throughout the front yard. Such a mess! I expected better time management. They started my job-- but then I guess they have other jobs that were deemed more important so my project dragged on much longer than expected. Since the real estate market was so volatile, I believe the delays costs us money when we were finally able to get the house on the market. I also expected the Rojas Family Tile would handle payment processing in a more professional manner. Asking me to lie on PayPal or Venmo by stating this was a "friends & family" transaction is not a professional business practice. Processing fees are part of your business expenses-- I know because I have run several businesses. Hopefully, things have improved with Rojas Family Tile since we used them in 2021. But based on my experience with them, I wouldn't recommend them.
