Dreamscapes is the company you want to hire to take care of your landscape construction needs. My wife and I interviewed 4 other companies we found through all the regular review sites. Besides price, the owner Mike was by far the reason we chose Dreamscapes. His demeanor, professionalism, and attentiveness to our needs paid great dividends as the project moved from the planning stages all the way to completion with all the ups and downs you would expect from such a large project. When we first received Dreamscape's bid we wondered what the catch was since all the other companies' bids were so high even though it was an apple to apple comparison. To say it's the wild, wild west in the construction business is an understatement. The price of materials is the price so once you boil down costs you can see if someone is charging too much. It was refreshing to have a business charge a decent price while being able to make a profit for itself that wasn't going to end up with me sending their kids to Stanford. We had received a separate quote for outdoor lights that Mike was able to undercut significantly. Once work started Mike kept in constant communication with us to let us know what the status of his crew was for the day or week so we could plan our days accordingly. His general labor crew was extremely courteous and professional and cleaned up after each day. His stonework guys were the same and I was so impressed with their work that I added a new mailbox to the contract. Mike also has a crew that does topnotch pavestone work that created the design we were looking for. As with all large projects, not everything went according to plan but this is where Mike's professionalism took over. Mike never asked for more money if an item was over budget or his guys had to fix mistakes. He always accepted responsibility as a business owner which says a lot about his ethics and it's evident he takes pride in his company. Dreamscapes turned our yard into a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy during any season. Don't hesitate to call Mike and have him bid on your project. You will be treated professionally, honestly, and will not be ripped off. **********Update 15 September 2017******** Had an issue with our fountain light and Mike fixed with no questions asked and without any of the usual contractor BS. Some areas of the yard were a little sparse on the mulch due to settling and Mike came out with a full pallet of mulch and took care of the problem. Some of the irrigation lines his sub installed were having issues and Mike made sure they were taken care of. He has a good working relationship with his subs which is reassuring. It's great to finally work with a business owner who actually gets that by treating his customers fairly he will get more business and referrals. read more

Mike's consulting made my vision even better. Professional, friendly work by the crew. Rock beds with succulents and ground cover flowers, doubled the amount of grass front and back, sprinkler and drip system installed, roadbase with limestone topping for the driveway. We chose dreamscapes for our outdoor kitchen project. It was not not the lowest quote we received but we thought since Mike was replying to us real promptly, it would be a hassle free project and that was important to us. Pros: 1. prompt responses from Mike. 2. He came back with his crew and redid the areas that looked bad. 3. We needed the patio for a weekend in between. His crew cane by and cleared up. 4. He was honest, later on during the project, about services he could not provide. Cons: 1. Too many mistakes - despite email correspondence with pictures, was about to bring cut stone instead of autumn blend leuder - he called about it so we were able to prevent the mistake. We had asked for grey leuder to be interspersed. Did not bring it initially, so first few layers didn't have it. Later on brought one stone grey leuder stone which now just looks like a blemish. His crew had no vision and had to be supervised during the entire masonry work. 2. Not transparent about price. We chose remnant granite instead of regular granite slab after the quote was given. He did not change the price. 3. Unnecessary delays, unprofessional behavior: His crew did not turn up for several weeks because of the cold weather - which is reasonable. But Mike did not know how to to install tile onto the siding as backsplash - which he had not told us before the project started. We told him we could look into it and let him know how, if he gave us a day or so. He however insisted that he get paid that day - this is after delaying completion of the project by weeks in between installation of the grill, replacing the grill defective lid he had installed initially, doing the connections etc. We obviously fired him. He deducted $300 for installation of the backsplash and paid him the rest- approx $7000 the same day. Honestly not worth the hassle and the headache. I would not this company. read more

I talked to Mike about my to-do list and he helped me to carry out my vision and give me wonderful advice. I needed new sod in the front, a design for a large area of river rock installed in the back, a garden plot dug out and new decking over my concrete patio. I can't say enough good things about this company. We called for five (yes, five) quotes for our masonry fence--partly out of being careful and partly because some companies didn't show, some wouldn't pin down a quote, some offered a vague estimate of the costs via text message. Mike showed up as scheduled, was knowledgeable and professional, and provided a timely, specific, itemized written quote. J.C.'s review was another of the reasons, and now that Mike and company have finished the job, I agree with everything J.C. said about their professionalism, workmanship, and follow-through. Mike was on site nearly every day; when he wasn't he took care to introduce us to whomever was in charge in his absence. There were some minor weather delays, but Mike was in steady touch so we always knew what to expect, and the job was done in as timely a manner as could be expected. He accommodated last-minute changes (we switched from flagstone to chopped stone right before he ordered), and was very mindful of picking stone that we liked--he visited three quarries to find the best match, sent pictures, and offered for us to go see firsthand if we needed to, but we didn't--he picked perfect stone. He was very responsive throughout the whole process. The guys worked tirelessly and so meticulously--the wall is gorgeous, and the final cost was exactly what Mike quoted. We're planning to hire DreamScapes and Mike again for our front and back patio and some interior stonework as well. It's rare to find contractors who do what they say, when they say they will, for the price they say, and do a beautiful job. read more

Mike was a true professional. He responded quickly to our request for a quote. We had so.e basic ideas and he offered some great suggestions that we followed. It was a big job. Our lot is 3/4 acre and the home is new. We installed planted beds, irrigation, large patio, xeriscape, sod, and lighting. Mike was on site regularly and in continual communication with us.
