After having my foundation fixed I had them repaired the brick on the side of my home that had along crack in it. Cleaned up the cracks and recoated the skirting. They did two plumbing jobs for me. One was correcting the poor work another local plumbing company did a year before. They did an awsome job replacing my front entry door with a new one that required a lot of extra work. They added concrete to extend the floor for the door to sit on. Finally they replaced all the rotten trim on my home around the windows and corners joints on my home. After touring my home and discussing the project I had in mind he had a detailed multi-page proposal for me. The first bed I received from a contractor was literally an email that went something like, Kitchen: 15k, Bathroom: 10k, Garage: 15k...Not very assuring. Shawn and his team were assuring from the get go. Communication with everyone on the team from his right-hand man, Oscar, and design wiz, Sara, to the plumber and electrician were streamlined by use of an app called Slack they use. This was so useful when you are working on a mult-month job and always have a ton of little questions or concerns. I could easily just shoot it out into the app and anyone on his team could respond. I loved that. And these guys are top-notch. Oscar did some amazing things in here. When we found an unexpected load-bearing beam, he expertly engineered a huge beam across the near-length of the kitchen that allowed us to fully open up the area...without hiring an engineer (my decision). That thing was solid. Then he took my dated fireplace and lathered it in multiple layers of concrete and mortar to make what is now a piece of modern art. Sara and Shawn both have an eye for design. When I sent a photo of one of my bathrooms to a friend she told me it looked with the W. In a few areas of the house they kind of nudged me to let them have some artistic leave and I am so glad they did. My master bath is now a study in what you should do for any small bathroom space and my laundry room has added about 100+ square feet to the home and functions as a mud room. All of the contractors he works with are exceptional as well. I will always use David O from Make it Drain plumbing and Irvin with Retiz Electric. I worked with Shawn on the design and he was always openminded about what I wanted to do and willing to provide suggestions or recommendations. His team of subcontractors did quality work and were respectful of me and my home. I had lots of people in and out of my house and had full trust in them. Most importantly, Shawn is an excellent communicator. He is always a text or phone call away, and would make time in his busy schedule to drop by the house and meet with me as needed. I have heard horror stories from my friends of contractors who disappear in the middle of a project or fail to respond to requests for updates or questions. I had none of these problems with Shawn. My renovation turned into a much bigger project in terms of the amount of changes that were made, but it never felt hopeless or endless, and the end result made it all worth it. I had quite possibly one of the most perplexing experiences ever with this company. Our family had…read morea new kitchen sink and faucet we wanted to install in the kitchen. The job would require cutting the laminate countertop by about an inch or two on the sides. We also needed to replace the wood in the cabinet below due to warping from various drips and spills (the home is 16 years old). We put the job out to three contractors, Republic Renovations being one that came highly recommended. Without coming over to look at the job or even discuss it on the phone, Bryan asked a couple questions via email and then sent over a bid. His wasn't the cheapest, but having done many remodeling projects myself I felt like it was fair. Fast forward a couple weeks while we picked up a new faucet, I reach back out to Republic Renovations to let him know we were ready to move forward. I explained that the new sink has a single drain (the old one has two) so we'd need to rough out new PVC to go from the disposal to the wall. I also reminded him of the full scope of the project, including the wood on the bottom. We get a new bid back from him with about a 70% increase in total project cost. Again, I take a fair minded approach to it, sign his contract, and we schedule a date for a week out. Less than 24 hours before our scheduled work, Bryan sends me an email saying he won't be able to make our appointment. Fine, I ask when we can reschedule. His response, "I'm not the man for the job. I do apologize." Really? When prompted why he even took the bid and discussed the project with us for well over 3 weeks, his response was simply, "Your frustrations are understood, apologies again and for any confusion!" So word of caution here. Don't bank on this guy following through with your job. Other than the slow start procuring our faucet, there's no clear reason why this guy flaked less than 24 hours before the day he requested to do the work. We've been more than fair with his original bid and questionable increase in cost, we even opted to have him do it on a Saturday at his request. The lack of professionalism here is pretty astounding. Update: so his response is about not having a plumber. Wish he would have told me about that before he scheduled the appointment, and that explanation would have been nice via email when he cancelled. Again, folks, buyer beware.
