This sounds weird but it isn't uncommon for Jamaican restaurants to run out of some food item. Value: I ordered a small plate of Jerk Chicken. It came with a choice of white rice or rice & peas and cabbage. I also had a choice of plantain or yams/sweet potatoes. This is a great value because it's common for you to only get a choice of rice and 1 additional side item. Additionally, I purchased a Ginger Beer and a slice of Carrot Cake. Taste: The rice and peas were good. They had a traditional Jamaican taste that was dryer and the way I like it. The jerk chicken was mild and had a BBQ-like taste. It didn't taste like traditional Jerk to me but was well flavored. The portions are generous so you will be full before you finish it. The Ginger Beer was a classic bottled beverage. The taste was consistent. Nothing really to report. The carrot cake was the overall winner! WOW! Perfectly flavored, not too heavy, and the a good price for the portion. It was well worth the second visit. The oxtails were super tender falling off the bone in an unbelievably meaty and savory gravy. Both times, I had a side of plantains which were perfectly caramelized and crispy. If you're a novice Caribbean Food eater like me, make your first trip to D&H4 and skip the chicken for the oxtails.
