The food is flavorful. I ordered this through GrubHub, which already has astronomical fees. So with that being said, my only feedback is that you should add more gravy to your peas and rice and it's OK to add an extra oxtail or two I was expecting more oxtails since it was considered a large platter. It is a large platter, but it's loaded with a lot of rice and peas. Consider cutting back on the rice and peas and adding more cabbage. The food is delicious. Coming from a meeting and wondered which Jamaican spot was opened on a Monday. Luckily, I found Negril Caribbean on Yelp. Ordered Escovitch Snapper, Rice and Peas with oxtail gravy, and Cabbage. Every bite was delicious!!! I did have to wait quite a bit before I was able to order, but to be fair, there was a gentleman before me who placed a very large order. The young lady I placed the order with was nice. I did have to pay before I received my food, but I noticed the gentleman before me (with the large order) paid after he received his food. Again, the food was great and would visit again. The restaurant is more order to-go than to sit and eat. Establishment was clean and customer service was cool. read more

So thanks to fellow yelpers I was drawn to this restaurant and I happen to absolutely adore oxtail was on my menu to cook last week I just ran out of time as it is a time consuming meal to prepare. I ordered towards the end of their evening and I was happy to know that they still had some left I was working nearby so popped in for a to-go order and I'm so so glad that I did. I meant a lovely woman I'm assuming she's the owner we briefly spoke of Jamaica and she let me know that they've got a great Saturday breakfast as well can't wait to try that so back to the oxtail cooked wonderfully if you like oxtail I highly recommend this dish nice and flavorful if you like it spicy add some Scotch bonnet before you leave or eat in!!! I happen to travel with hot sauce so I was set but trying it without the hot sauce it still had a great simmer of flavor built in it the rice was wonderfully flaky and full of flavor also I loved how she did the beans in the rice. If you from NY... Now, let's address the Dover dilemma. Bless their hearts, but those "Caribbean" joints? They're about as Jamaican as a penguin in flip-flops. Because of a family member that lives near Wilmington, a mere 35 to 40 minutes away, lies Negril's Restaurant Located smack dab in a Wilmington neighborhood that's as diverse as the flavors on the menu, Negril's isn't just a restaurant; it's a reminder that authentic food does exist in Delaware. The service was great! The rice and peas, cooked to perfection with coconut milk, plantains--ripe, sweet, and perfectly caramelized, they're like little slices of heaven on your plate. Jerk chicken sizzles on the grill, and trust me, it's chopped not serve to you like you a hog. Curry chicken that's as rich in color as it is in flavor, brown stew chicken that was clearly browned then stewed and didn't come from a crockpot. Bottom line if you no see no "thyme, pimento seed, scallion, sweet pepper, carrrrottttt, or gravy that is supposed to be gravy, and none of that watery nonsense then you know it's not Caribbean food. Only thing missing is the fresh salad, but the well-seasoned steamed cabbage makes up for that. So, if you're tired of settling for food that's blander than a loaf of white bread, take a detour to Negril's and you will see what "we a chat bout" Trust me, your palate and your stomach will thank you!! read more

Ordered off seamless so I didn't actually see what the restaurant was like. The food was great though! I ordered on a Friday evening and I guess they were busy because they called to let me know they were almost out of macaroni and cheese. Woman on the phone was SUPER nice about it. They made up for it by giving me some extra plantains, which I wanted to try anyway (and they were better than the macaroni and cheese anyway) The jerk chicken was very nice, good flavor and very tender. Huge portion of rice and beans smothered in ox tail gravy (my request..) The patties I got had delicious filling and a very nice crust. I would definitely order from here again. This is three large platters one small macaroni and beef patties. All in one paper bag. Heavy food liquid paper bag all my food fell from under and they said all they can do is give me one platter out of $50 spent because it was my responsibility. I managed to salvage the curry chicken and rice and cabbage from the oxtails I scoped back on the platter just to take pics. For one my son not knowing fell tasted it and said it was horribly unflavored. The color was off and it looked like oxtail stewed in a pressure cooker and they threw some loose light skin gravy on it. The macaroni was reheated in the microwave so I don't know how long they had that sitting out and that too was bland nasty. The beef patties were dry and burnt on the bottom. Just a complete bad experience. So I'm questioning the photos I see posted online they look nothing like what I have. On the menu it says red kidney beans. This is not that.! They really wanted me to come back and get one platter remade. I give up no keep ya food. I'm not gonna travel back 15 mins for one platter and have a whole house that's still out of a meal. read more

Delicious! I ordered curry chicken with rice and peas, Mac and cheese, and fried plantains. My phone rang within two minutes and the lovely woman who called explained that the plantains they had weren't as ripe as they would like. She offered to go ahead and make them, or substitute something else. Most places would just make them but I love that she gave me an option. I tried the greens. Everything was wonderful and it arrived really quickly. Especially loved ....ummm....all of it! I'll order again. read more

Absolutely amazing food. I got the curry goat for myself, the brown strew chicken for my mom, and the jerk chicken for my dad. Everyone loved their meals, and it was definitely affordable.
