I finally visited this restaurant and I'm ashamed to say it took so long. It was a great time of day because it wasn't busy. There was plenty of seats available, I didn't wait to be helped, and everything was in stock! All menu items, refreshments, and desserts! This sounds weird but it isn't uncommon for Jamaican restaurants to run out of some food item. Value: I ordered a small plate of Jerk Chicken. It came with a choice of white rice or rice & peas and cabbage. I also had a choice of plantain or yams/sweet potatoes. This is a great value because it's common for you to only get a choice of rice and 1 additional side item. Additionally, I purchased a Ginger Beer and a slice of Carrot Cake. Taste: The rice and peas were good. They had a traditional Jamaican taste that was dryer and the way I like it. The jerk chicken was mild and had a BBQ-like taste. It didn't taste like traditional Jerk to me but was well flavored. The portions are generous so you will be full before you finish it. The Ginger Beer was a classic bottled beverage. The taste was consistent. Nothing really to report. The carrot cake was the overall winner! WOW! Perfectly flavored, not too heavy, and the a good price for the portion. Hidden Gems such as this need to be celebrated. This is a spot that puts LOVE in the Food. Hands down, the best Caribbean Food in Delaware! Food: The portions are huge. Honestly, I can house most of a large because I'm a fatty, but a large platter can comfortably feed two. My go-tos are the oxtail and curry goat. The bone-to-meat ratio is good, it's PACKED with flavor, and what I like most is that they offer sweet potatoes as a side. The stew chicken is also worth a try. Be sure to ask for gravy on the rice. Beef patties were fresh when I tried them. Service: Staff are personable and super friendly. There can be a wait for your food depending on how many folks are in line, but it's worth it. Food is reasonably priced. Decor: There is a dine-in area if you want to enjoy your food immediately. (Why not?) At night they open the back for parties. Verdict: Don't let the area fool you, food is good to the soul. read more

Definitely the best Jamaican food in the area , no contest . I got the curry chicken with everything & it was all beyond my expectations . The yams and cabbage were perfectly seasoned and it had a lot of chicken that was very flavorful and less bone in the platter . The food here is awesome and they really load u up . It doesn't look like much from the outside but everything was good inside. The guy up front was really cool and took great care of us . This is a LIVE review! Certainly did not get a greeting when I walked through the door, nor as I stood at the counter. There was a bubbly 6- year old who had more personality than anyone else in the establishment! This restaurant is just another example of how you should NOT judge a book by it's cover. When my family and I pulled up the restaurant we were a little hesitant to get out at first because the restaurant looked a little worn down. Also, it is located just off the road where you don't see many people which we thought was a little shady. However, Neek (the woman at the front who took our order) was kind and relatable and their restaurant seems family and community oriented. We quickly realized that it is not the building that makes the food but, the people and the soul with which they season, cook, and serve the food. Our food was DELICIOUS!!! When we went to heat up our leftovers the next day the jerk chicken and oxtails tasted as if not better, tender and juicy as the first day. We definitely will be coming back here :) read more

Literally ALL BONES! The cabbage was undercooked and under seasoned. 0/10 don't recommend. The smell was terrible. Opened the food tried to stomach the smell and even fished around the platter trying to find an actual sliver of oxtail but I guess it was f*ck me! Food is horrible. I ordered the oxtails with Mac and cheese and rice and beans. The rice is dry and hard. The Mac and cheese is over cooked and mushy. And the oxtails are basically all bone. Oh yeah my platter was $21 in the trash. I rather go to McDonalds. read more

Walked in during lunch time and this place was a ghost town. That should have been a big red flag to leave but decided to check it out anyways. Walked in and the server up front barely greeted us. We ordered our food (Curry Goat, Large and Beef Stew, Small). The server then went back to the kitchen, came back and just sat down and got on her phone. The cooks from the kitchen came to the front and were arguing with the server. The interaction was extremely rude. Then the cook came back 5 mins later to say it would be an hour before the beef stew would be ready. The server then offered me something else so I got the Oxtail. Went back to eat and the rice was dry, cabbage had an overwhelming taste of vinegar. Oxtail did have a good flavor though. But since the experience was so terrible, it overshadowed the food. Very disappointed! Stopped in today for lunch and made the mistake of ordering brown stew chicken. Usually that is a dish you save for after you've actually tried the basic dishes such as the jerk or curry, but I decided to go out on a whim. The pro is that the food was seasoned very well down to the cabbage. Everything had just the right amount of spice to it. Unfortunately that's it for the pro's. The chicken was extremely tough, almost as if someone had microwaved it way to long bc certain parts were hard and dried out and the food was extremely hot. Not like hot food fresh out of the pot, but food in the microwave for 3 mins plus hot. I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese, probably the worst rendition of baked mac and cheese I've ever had. I'm pretty sure they used box Mac and cheese with the powder cheese mix and then put it in the oven to give it the look of baked mac. It was bland, not to mention the top layer was over cooked so the noodles were extremely hard, and I didn't taste a hint of cheddar, American, hell even Velveeta. I'm starting to suspect that he may still be selling thanksgiving leftovers. I will say that if the food were actually edible that it would've been a great portion for $10.
