Jerk chicken rice and beans and cabbage

Amazing food and people! The jerk chicken is my favorite. The portions are also always generous too!

Large Oxtail with Mac & Cheese and Rice/Beans

I went to Nicely's for the first time on 8/17/24 around 7:30pm. I drove 30 minutes from Elkton Maryland to Wilmington Delaware. I ordered a large curry goat with rice/beans and cabbage. I also ordered a large oxtails with mac & cheese and rice/beans. The food was excellent. Perfectly seasoned and nice portions. I have no complaints. I highly recommend Nicely's and I will be back soon. Thank you!

So every town my husband and I go to, we locate a Jamaican restaurant to eat it-he's Jamaican. We found this place not too far from our airbnb. This was one of the worse chicken patties we've ate. There was barely any meat inside. My husband wanted a beef patty but the lady said they were "crispy" aka dried. The crust lacked color-turmeric! I had oxtail with traditional sides. My husband has curry goat with traditional sides. Both meats were tender but lacked any level of spice aka heat. No scotch bonnet taste.

I wanted some Jamaican Food to get away from the hospital's lovely cuisine. I did not have a hard time finding the place, just parking is awkward. I parked on the street. Very quaint and clean corner restaurant. Customer service was not bad as the ladies we're working hard to fill orders. I ordered a Large Jerk with Macaroni & Cheese and Peas with Rice. I will say the food is flavorful and you get a very nice portion for your money. I would definitely go here again as it was "Nicely" Done!

OMG!! The food we had was delicious!! We were in town, staying at nearby hotel and found this restaurant on Yelp. Was not sure what to expect..We picked up our food and inside the restaurant was very clean! This is a big deal for me...The staff was professional. We had the curried chicken, curried shrimp and fried red snapper w/rice n beans. Again, OMG!! It was tasty and very filling. This Jamaican is definitely recommending! :-)

If you like curried goat, oxtails, and jerk chicken, you'd want to come to this downtown Wilmington establishment. While that jerk chicken is super popular (just about everyone in line orders that), it's a little too saucy for my own tastes but the char-grilled flavor is spot on. You will ALWAYS find me ordering the awesome curried goat or oxtail platters. At $14 and $16 respectively for the medium size, sure it's not a dirt cheap lunch but good quality food takes time. And you can tell they put some time into their cooking because that meat is perfectly tender. The platters come with sides like rice and veggies or you can do mac and cheese instead. They also do curried and stewed chicken, fried fish as well as specials every week such as fried chicken on Wednesdays, which the owners told me I've been missing out on (!). Be sure to also get their patties; they are delicious pockets of curried beef or chicken stuffed in a perfect pastry. I go for the curried beef patty every time. A couple of those make for a nice breakfast or afternoon snack. Go get some good food!

The food here is amazing. I order from them at least 2-3 times a month. The jerk chicken is very good, and the plantains are great.

There was plenty of seats available, I didn't wait to be helped, and everything was in stock! All menu items, refreshments, and desserts! This sounds weird but it isn't uncommon for Jamaican restaurants to run out of some food item. Value: I ordered a small plate of Jerk Chicken. It came with a choice of white rice or rice & peas and cabbage. I also had a choice of plantain or yams/sweet potatoes. This is a great value because it's common for you to only get a choice of rice and 1 additional side item. Additionally, I purchased a Ginger Beer and a slice of Carrot Cake. Taste: The rice and peas were good. They had a traditional Jamaican taste that was dryer and the way I like it. The jerk chicken was mild and had a BBQ-like taste. It didn't taste like traditional Jerk to me but was well flavored. The portions are generous so you will be full before you finish it. The Ginger Beer was a classic bottled beverage. The taste was consistent. Nothing really to report. The carrot cake was the overall winner! WOW! Perfectly flavored, not too heavy, and the a good price for the portion. I highly recommend you try this if you like carrot cake. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu. Please look for my review update in the next 3 months.

It was not crowded at lunch, but we got there when it first opened. We looked at the food up front, and inquired about the things that looked good. We ordered the pernil, sweet plantains, goat, skirt steak, winter squash stuffed with chicken, shrimp ceviche, mashed potatoes, yellow rice & beans, and tres leches. That was a lot of food- and we had it for lunch and dinner. We have leftovers for tomorrow. Everything was delicious. I usually don't like mashed potatoes at restaurants, but I liked these. My husband and I reviewed which food was our favorite. He liked the skirt steak with the yellow rice and beans. I think I like the goat with the rice and beans. I usually don't Iike rice, but I am a fan of rice and beans. I didn't get chicken thighs and legs that looked good, because we ordered so much food. The person behind the counter was very friendly and hopeful. The restaurant was still clean.

But then I walked into this spot and was immediately hit with the holy trinity: merengue, típico, and bachata blasting like it was a Saturday in Santiago. First off, shoutout to Christine--our waitress--who was sweet, chill, and had us feeling like VIPs. Then there's Jasmine, aka the Mamajuana Queen . She knew my happiness window was limited, so she made it her mission to turn the vibe ALL the way up. And then... she hit us with the cured Mamajuana shots. Not just a drink--this was ancestral medicine. Now let's talk FOOD. Dominican sushi. Yes. Tres. Golpes. In. A. Sushi. Roll. I almost cried. Then came the skirt steak with tostones and baby, let me tell you... I've never looked at a plate with that much respect. My husband had pork chops with arroz y habichuelas, and my friend smashed the chimi tostones like it was her last meal on Earth. The place? Clean. Cute. Culture-rich. And if you're not ready to go home after dinner, guess what? There's a club upstairs. That's right--dinner downstairs, dance battle upstairs. Dominican efficiency at its finest. Final verdict: This spot is a whole experience. Not just food--this is a vibe, a reunion, a spiritual realignment. If you're Dominican and homesick, GO.
