I finally visited this restaurant and I'm ashamed to say it took so long. It was a great time of…read moreday because it wasn't busy. There was plenty of seats available, I didn't wait to be helped, and everything was in stock! All menu items, refreshments, and desserts! This sounds weird but it isn't uncommon for Jamaican restaurants to run out of some food item. Value: I ordered a small plate of Jerk Chicken. It came with a choice of white rice or rice & peas and cabbage. I also had a choice of plantain or yams/sweet potatoes. This is a great value because it's common for you to only get a choice of rice and 1 additional side item. Additionally, I purchased a Ginger Beer and a slice of Carrot Cake. Taste: The rice and peas were good. They had a traditional Jamaican taste that was dryer and the way I like it. The jerk chicken was mild and had a BBQ-like taste. It didn't taste like traditional Jerk to me but was well flavored. The portions are generous so you will be full before you finish it. The Ginger Beer was a classic bottled beverage. The taste was consistent. Nothing really to report. The carrot cake was the overall winner! WOW! Perfectly flavored, not too heavy, and the a good price for the portion. I highly recommend you try this if you like carrot cake. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu. Please look for my review update in the next 3 months.

My food was amazing last week, leading me to go back to the restaurant again this weekend. We took…read moreout for lunch on Saturday. It was not crowded at lunch, but we got there when it first opened. We looked at the food up front, and inquired about the things that looked good. We ordered the pernil, sweet plantains, goat, skirt steak, winter squash stuffed with chicken, shrimp ceviche, mashed potatoes, yellow rice & beans, and tres leches. That was a lot of food- and we had it for lunch and dinner. We have leftovers for tomorrow. Everything was delicious. I usually don't like mashed potatoes at restaurants, but I liked these. My husband and I reviewed which food was our favorite. He liked the skirt steak with the yellow rice and beans. I think I like the goat with the rice and beans. I usually don't Iike rice, but I am a fan of rice and beans. I didn't get chicken thighs and legs that looked good, because we ordered so much food. The person behind the counter was very friendly and hopeful. The restaurant was still clean.

Okay so listen--being a Dominican in Chicago and now Fresno means I've been living in a…read moreplantain-less wilderness for YEARS. But then I walked into this spot and was immediately hit with the holy trinity: merengue, típico, and bachata blasting like it was a Saturday in Santiago. First off, shoutout to Christine--our waitress--who was sweet, chill, and had us feeling like VIPs. Then there's Jasmine, aka the Mamajuana Queen . She knew my happiness window was limited, so she made it her mission to turn the vibe ALL the way up. And then... she hit us with the cured Mamajuana shots. Not just a drink--this was ancestral medicine. Now let's talk FOOD. Dominican sushi. Yes. Tres. Golpes. In. A. Sushi. Roll. I almost cried. Then came the skirt steak with tostones and baby, let me tell you... I've never looked at a plate with that much respect. My husband had pork chops with arroz y habichuelas, and my friend smashed the chimi tostones like it was her last meal on Earth. The place? Clean. Cute. Culture-rich. And if you're not ready to go home after dinner, guess what? There's a club upstairs. That's right--dinner downstairs, dance battle upstairs. Dominican efficiency at its finest. Final verdict: This spot is a whole experience. Not just food--this is a vibe, a reunion, a spiritual realignment. If you're Dominican and homesick, GO. If you're not Dominican but love flavor and joy, GO. If you don't like this place... honestly, I can't trust your taste buds.
