    Tequila

Picked this as our date day place because I was in search of different tequilas. They had a decent variety but only one anejo option, which I prefer. So I settled for repo. The price per shot was good. Didn't feel like my pockets were being assaulted as they usually are for tequila shots (yes I have plenty of various tequila at home but sometimes you want to go out you know). We ordered a couple bistec and a couple tinga tacos. They came out pretty quickly. They were tasty (not the best we've had but good enough). All of the servers were friendly and chatty when you wanted them to be. The vibe was cool even though there was a party of about 6 or more that were making a scene about paying the 20% automatic gratuity which is pretty normal for parties that size and it was clearly posted for all to see. The servers took the abuse from Kevin and removed it from his bill. I was hoping they told him not to ever come back but I didn't hear that. Oh well. We enjoyed and would go back maybe later in the day to experience the dj and the evening vibes. We spent $110 with tip for 4 tacos, 4 shots of tequila and 2 beers.

OMG! We had a great time friday night for a music event here. Can't believe we've never stopped in here before. Ruins has such a cool vibe and the staff is amazing. Service was excellent & drinks were great!! Carlos, our bartender, was amazing. Didn't eat but just ordered chips & salsa, which were really good. Commerce street is under construction but there is a parking garage across the street, conveniently!! Easy to get to! Bathrooms were clean too. Can't wait to go back! Enjoyed the event!!

This place has great customer service! The chairs are a bit small, but I appreciate that the sink and wash area are located right outside the men's and women's restrooms, you can easily see who actually washes their hands. The tacos were delicious, and my favorite was the Cabeza taco. The steamed beef made them extra juicy and flavorful. As for the drinks, they were refreshing and well-balance not too strong, but just right.

Atmosphere is creepy and chill. Staff is very attentive and welcoming. Drinks are delicious! Food is delicious also and authentic! Will definitely be returning!

    Walking nachos

I liked the vibe at Ruins, but it was a bit dark. The food was extremely overpriced for the portions. You had to get each taco individually and the walking nachos were in a store bought bag that definitely should not have costed the price that it was. The nachos had good flavor but not enough for even one person. The tacos were a bit dry, the pastor was definitely the best. Was not a fan of the red salsa. Definitely Tex mex. Our waitress was really nice though! She's what the 3 stars are for.

I've been looking forward to eating at Ruins FOR A YEAR! I tried eating here three times, the first time I came here they told me the kitchen was closed, the second try they told me that the kitchen is closed till Thursdays. The third time I came and they had taken their vegan and vegetarian taco options off the menu. The server didn't even offer ab alternative option that the kitchen could put together. Two stars for the lack of effective communication menu change and kitchen being closed. The drinks and ambiance are both appeasing.

My friend recommended this place for their tacos. She got chicken tinga and a pastor taco. I got 2 steak tacos, 1 chicken taco, and rice & beans. Rice beans weren't my complete favorite but the chicken tinga taco was the better of the tacos !!!! I actually went back and ordered another. My friend grabbed the frozen Paloma and I got the frozen Painkiller. The chicken tacos and the drink really made this place a 4!

I have been a frequent customer of Ruins for the past four years. Yesterday I took friends to dinner for great food in Deep Ellum. Unfortunately we arrived and the entire menu changed. The OG Crispy Chicken Tinga I've ordered time and time again is completely changed. Now, they only have a regular chicken taco. Their signature sauce gone, 90% of their menu gone. Everything we loved about this restaurant is gone. I'm sad to say the quality we enjoyed and the food we loved is gone.

I came for the rum, and will return for the rum, delicious food, enticing aesthetic, and amazingly helpful staff. With only one available night for rum-tasting in Dallas, it quickly became clear that Ruins would be the place to go. I was not disappointed, The online rum list was indeed updated and just as wide and creative as promised. Additional bonus: half pours are available for the eager taster. Our table ordered four different entrees and everyone was thrilled with their meal. Staff were happy to make suggestions and also assisted with descriptions. The space is both dark and bright, with a large covered patio entrance area. Totally recommend a visit

Santa Muerte - siete misterios mezcal, damiana, hoja santa, ginger, guava, and lemon.

The reviews on Yelp brought me to this place. The service was friendly and attentive. The Santa Muerte cocktail was just perfect. I'd happily order it again. The flautas were pretty good but the standout was the side of rice I ordered. It tasted homemade and like it was made with love. Really loved it. The Al pastor taco (not pictured) was ok and the birria quesadillas (El Precipicio) were good. I believe the birria here is made with goat instead of beef. The vibes inside are very different than any other Mexican restaurant. A lot of devil and Santa muerte art, hipster bar type of vibe. On a Thursday afternoon, it wasn't busy at all but I can see how this place would get busy in the evenings due to their events and bar service.

The place is cool I'll give it that and for me the drinks were damn good! I'd dive into the painkiller numerous times. Service was good no complaints. The food has changed from most of the pics I see here. They only serve tacos now and around 6 sides beans, rice, the chip and queso, guac, salsa standard, plus a few others. Pastor was good, queso.... Anyone can heat white velveeta up so at least try and impress me. Chips were good. Drinking for sure, eat with the intention I'll be going somewhere else for dinner... yup.

Favorite bar in Deep Ellum. Good music, good drinks, great service. Our waitress was attentive and sweet and got our drinks out quick even with the busy bar. Really cool decorations like your in Temple Run. I loved that we could hang out and talk but afterwards we went to the attached venue-Limbo Room. We got another drink to walk the live music performance and saw Chris- the sweetest bartender alive! Can't wait to be back!

Stopped in for drinks midday Sunday. Service was great and the patio was covered and has fans.

Do you have a gluten free menu?

We don’t have a separate menu for that, but we have tons of gluten free options. Our tacos are all made on corn. Most of our items are gluten free besides our tortas.

Do they serve brunch and how about outdoor seating?

Is the full menu served until close?

Yes, 1:45am. Last call for drinks is also last call for food.

Is there a menu available? The website linked on Yelp takes you to a site with images and directions, but no menu info. Thanks in advance!

I noticed that too. There was nothing I could find online either, unfortunately. They have a pretty decent menu but of course it's once you're there.

The hotel property is like four legs under the table - a great location, a great hotel experience, a great restaurant experience, and a entertainment experience (The Mansion Bar). At least one leg has been kicked out, one is suffering. The Mansion Bar used to have a great recipe for success - proven by how busy and regular the customers were and loyal (or was), and the top tier talent that was routine for 10+ years. Me and my friends have a relationship with the long time staff as customers as well as the excellent music talent. The cause? Not precisely sure but I think it's new ownership, at the very least a new Food & Bev manager. I also know the staff is very upset about these changes and the relationships with the repeat music talent is now a mess. I wouldn't be surprise if the staff start leaving. I'm hoping whomever is making these decisions can revert back to what was working. Dallas has a lot of great venues that will fill this void.
