Great service staff. Service center is top notch. Coffee snacks and loaner vehicles available. An asset to Subaru. This is how a service center should be run. Kudos to owner and management. Sales people very nice but a limited amount of cars to look at as sales office and building very small. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. This was, without question, one of the worst car-buying experiences imaginable. Before making an eight-hour trip each way, I specifically asked them to tell me about every imperfection because I did not want to be out there and be surprised by anything because it so far. I was told by Steven that the car was in "perfect condition." I was assured repeatedly that it was exactly as described. Based on those representations, I invested significant time and money, including travel expenses and a hotel stay, to come see the car. When I arrived, the reality was completely different. The vehicle was covered in dozens of small scratches and dents. On every single panel of the car. Even the roof! It looks like a tree fell on it probably where the large branches didn't hit it, but all the small ones did. Or it got run off the road into brush or the like. Calling it "perfect condition" was not just inaccurate--it was blatantly misleading. It was obvious that the car had substantial cosmetic damage that anyone could see immediately. Steven was unpleasant to work with. He was pushy, snobby, entitled and just plain rude sometimes. After getting T-boned by a car at 50mph into my drivers side door, my car was totaled. I was trying to figure out transportation to New York. He impatiently told me to "just drive it. It's not that far." 15 HOURS. He also told me I couldn't have an auto delivery service pick it up because "I had to sign for it in person." He also told me I could only come on days when he was there and gave me HIS schedule for me to work around?? He also went on about needing to schedule all appointments that "it was rude to just show up to a used car dealership." Ummmm I'd been car shopping at a dozen prior and they were thrilled when a customer pulled in - even without an appointment. He informed he "He didn't know where I went to, but he's a professional." And that's just the highlight reel of correspondence. After leaving without the car, to make matters worse, when I requested the return of my deposit, the dealership was unresponsive and difficult to deal with. Communication became sparse, and obtaining a refund was far more complicated than it should have been. This experience was frustrating, costly, and incredibly disappointing. I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business here. If you value honesty, transparency, and basic customer service, look elsewhere. read more

been having my Subaru w there for 10 yrs and my mom had her car serviced for at least 10 yrs prior to that. A lot has changed- the past 2 times I have been there they told me my car needed work and it didn't. Tires, and then brakes. they themselves told me I didn't need after I questioned them. how much have I paid for in the past and didn't need it??? geuss they need to pay for the new building. you just lost an over 20 yr family customer. read more

I just had a great exoerience purchasing a 2025 Forester Limited. My salesperson was Steve Dinelli. He was friendly and knew everything about the product. You got the sense that he loves his job and want to be sure the customer is happy. Very thorough. The dealership is on the small side which helps with the buying experience. Amy Haubrich was the Business Manager. She was very thorough and professional. I highly recommend Ruge's for a new Subaru. John High Falls read more

Really a personalized and small town feel for a big brand. Steve Dinelli in sales was exactly the match for me, consistent, informative, good guidance and not pushy at all but always checked in pictures of my future ride! Overall everyone at the dealership was helpful and easy to work with. Delivery was great and so happy I stopped in. Thanks JKM read more

Ruge's Subaru - New WRX TR ... Red enough? - Car Dealers Near Me - Rhinebeck, New York

NEVER TOOK A TEST DRIVE BECAUSE I TRUSTED THE DEALER. Found out AFTER I signed for the loan that it had no automatic trunk lift, which for the price I paid I thought was included-VERY disappointed! Also too much material by the rear view mirror - seems busy and hard to see the rear view. Not happy- stuck with the car for 6 years- NEVER again through Ruges! read more

Great service until you have a problem w a new car ! . i had a problem putting gas in my tank when my car was 6 weeks old , I was told they would order a part and call me when it was in . 6 weeks later , I was fed a different story ; basically the part wasn't ordered and they weren't entertaining a fix . read more

When I arrived this afternoon, the place was incredibly busy. The staff worked quickly to get me checked in- I went for a nice walk around town and did some shopping. They called me to let me know that my brakes needed to be replaced and they got going on that service right away. When I got back to the waiting room, I had a comfortable seat while I waited. The staff is great at being accommodating and keeping people up to date. read more

Dennis at Ruges Subaru in Rhinebeck is Always kind courteous and friendly to us when we bring in our car. Understanding and compassionate as well. It's good to know we have a reliable place to bring our car. It's been along time since I've trusted anyone Thank you Ruges Thank you Dennis read more

Stay away. They tried to charge me vastly more than other shops for the same service. Most recently they tried to charge me $160 for a three-minute process (TPMS reset) that most shops do as a courtesy. I asked why and was told by the service manager that they had to pay for fancy equipment and valets etc. Why should a consumer have to fund unnecessary crap at an auto-mechanic? It is a Subaru shop, not Porsche. But it is worse. They lied and said only a dealer could do the service. I knew different. I ended up going to Monroe and they did it for free in three minutes (and I tipped the guy $20). They are overpriced and not even marginally better than the average shop. Yuck. read more

Since opening the new service center, their business ethics appear to have taken a backseat as they have been finding ways to significantly upsell customers on seemingly unnecessary services. After having taken our Subaru vehicles to Ruge's for the past 21 years, we will no longer be utilizing their service center based upon our recent experience as well as the experiences of others. read more

New service center was great, but the service was not. 2023 Impreza was throwing a code for upstream 02 sensor so I made an appointment and brought it in. They charged $167 for diagnosis and wanted almost $700 for the repair (if it was mouse damaged and they claimed it was). Pop the hood and look down and you see the sensor (with no mouse damage). Plug in scanner and you see the code. Needless to say, I will not recommend, buy another or or have my car serviced there. read more

Just visited the new service center, got a low battery warning for my fob on a Forester, went for a battery and was informed they were out and new ones would be delivered in several days. Since it is a standard battery I asked if I went and bought one would they install it. This is when Scott H. Said go have a cup of coffee and enjoy the new customer waiting area, he would run over to Williams and get the battery's, 10 minutes later he came back tested both fobs, and sent me on my home with no charge and two new installed fob batteries. Thanks Scott for rising to the occasion and making another positive experience at Ruges. read more

We have purchased several cars from them always a good experience. Just took our second vehicle for the airbag recall. Service department was great again. If you are looking to purchase or have you Subaru service this is the deal to go. Update: After looking over my last review in 2017. My opinion on the sales department has changed. In early 2018 my daughter was looking for a car. The cars for sale were not prepped and one actually had a mouse nest on the top of the motor. Needless to say the salesman was shocked but he still tried to sell her the car. I was very disappointed and haven't returned. read more

I dropped my car off on a Monday and it took them 5 days to even look at the car. They kept saying their diagnostic guy was so slammed. My transmission is broken and all I got a as delays. I left town and then the car broke down. What a waste of time. At least i broke down in a town where they actually know how to fix it. read more

Any time you see the OWNER of a dealership rolling up his sleeves and physically taking part in the day to day operations you get a fuzzy feeling there is strong interest, concern and sympathy for the car buyer. This is Mr. Ruge. The people who work for him be it sales, mechanics and Hostess are well trained and polite. Every time I have entered his dealership I have felt appreciated. Being a car nut...this means something to me. Subaru makes an excellent car. A caring dealership like Ruge's Subaru is hard to find. read more

I was visiting Rhinebeck from out of town when my battery died. I got a jump and brought the car to Ruge's on a busy day and without an appointment to get a new battery. They tested the battery and found out it was fine - we somehow had kicked the cargo light on while removing luggage and drained it ourselves. They got us on the road again and didn't charge us a thing for the visit. They could easily have sold me a battery or they could have charged for the service visit. They showed a lot of integrity. read more

Awesome customer service from all. I know nothing about cars but had a lot of questions, and Brett politely and kindly answered them all. I felt really well taken care of and that my car was in good hands. Thank you! read more

We just bought a Forrester at Ruges and couldn't be happier. We had done our research on kinds of vehicles/options/prices ahead of time, so when we went in we knew what we wanted to see. The dealership is spotless, hand cleaning stations are located by all the doors, and all staff wore masks and stayed distant. The cars are sanitized before you test drive them. This tells you that they respect you and care about their cars. Speaking of respect, everyone who interacted with us spoke to BOTH of us. There was none of that "talk to the husband, ignore the little lady nonsense". We were fully respected. While they certainly told us about various options, etc., there was no pressure to up-sell. We never felt like we HAD to get certain items. The salesman and the person who did the closing were clear, friendly, and helpful. They took care of ALL the details. We never had to go to the DMV. After giving our insurance company permission to speak to Ruges, they took care of that, too. So our plates and insurance were done on premises. Sweet. In addition, the gentleman who gave us our "tour of the car" was superb. He went over EVERY DETAIL outside of the car, under the hood, in and around the seats, and in the "cockpit". Considering that he must do this many, many times a week he was patient and enthusiastic. This is important because these gorgeous new cars have a lot going on. Considering that the car we traded in was 19 years old, we had plenty to catch up on, but we drove out of the parking lot feeling jubilant and confident. We test drove a car on Saturday, thought about it all day Sunday, and went in, signed the papers, and drove home with our Forrester on Monday. It doesn't get easier. Nice place, nice people, nice cars. read more

my uncle insisted that i bring my subaru here for a once over. i bought it used in a private sale so i took it to ruge's for my inspection, tire rotation, etc. i'm happy with the service and i would come here again. the customer lobby is very clean, with water, coffee, and granola bars - super comfy. great place read more

I actually purchased a Toyota from them they had received on a trade-in. Chris was my salesperson and he was straightforward, available, and thorough. No high pressure. When I communicated with Chris about the car he was timely and straight-forward. I had the car in my possession two days after my test drive. The finance department was thorough and quick. Then Angel sat with me and showed me how all of the gizmos and buttons worked on my new car, even offering to help me move a booster seat over to my new car. That was by far the fastest, easiest car purchase I've made in years. read more

We were 3 hours from home and our 2020 Ascent's warning lights, all of them!, came on. We looked them up on maps and more or less dropped in unannounced. They took us right away, came out to our car, hooked up the handheld device, told us the code it threw. They explained the problem, what to do if it happened again (see our normal dealer). They reset it and sent us on our way back home. Awesome visit. ps: We made its home without incident. pss: Could I give them 6 stars? read more

My 2016 Subaru Legacy was having a problem. It kept stalling, and turning off when I would start it. I tried to get into another Subaru dealership. They said to drop it off, and they would try to get to it by the following week. What? I have a job. I can't do that. I called Ruge's, and they got me right in. They were very professional, and courteous. They fixed the problem at a very fair price, and had me back in business. This will be the Subaru dealership for me from now on. Highly recommended! read more

Jack from service at Ruge's reached out upon seeing my previous review. He spoke with me and the employee. He was apologetic for the manner of the interaction and although we cannot say how or when the scratch appeared on my door, he graciously agreed to have it repaired. I just purchased a 2021 Subaru cross trek from this dealership and my experience couldn't be much better. They were organized, courteous, and non-pushy. They had what I wanted, they were prepared for my arrival, and their paperwork was easy and painless. My experience at Ruge's was a stark contrast between that of two other dealerships I was working with prior and failed to meet my expectations for this purchase. I'm glad that Ruge''s knows how to treat their customers. I would recommend this business to anyone interested in purchasing a Subaru. read more

I just purchased my second car I've purchased from Ryan at Ruge's. As a woman who knows a thing or two about cars, I appreciate how he doesn't talk down to me as often has been the case at other dealerships. Ruge's is definitely not your average dealership, in looks and practice and it's always a very pleasant experience, when it could easily not be. I trust that the car I bought for my 17 year old daughter will be safe and solid, because I trust Ryan, and ultimately, I trust Ruge's. 9/18 Just wanted to add an update. A year ago I leased what's now my 3rd car (4th Subaru) from Ruge's, again from Ryan. Love my 2018 Outback Ltd, it's exceeding my expectations, and as always, we love and trust Ruge's more than any other Subaru dealership! read more

As a family we have been customers of Ruge's Subaru for over 10 years now, and every experience is a pleasure. I bought my first car from them 12 years ago and had a great experience, and my wife recently leased a 2014 Subaru Impreza from Ruge's. When i was ready to upgrade to a new vehicle i knew they were the only people i wanted to talk to. Scott Wallner helped me with everything, i knew which car i wanted and he helped me decide on what trim i wanted and any accessories. The car was a hard to find so it took a while for the car to arrive to the dealership as there was a national shortage! but Scott was able to answer any questions i had while waiting and really made the whole experience extremely pleasurable. I never felt pressured to get anything i didn't want, and i left with such an awesome car - i will definitely be back for my next car (in a few years as these Subarus really last a long time!) I highly recommend Ruge's if you're in the market for a Subaru (they also have a GMC outlet, and the guys up there are just as awesome) read more

We had a horrible snafu with a warranty-eligible replacement. The dealer we had bought the car from is useless, but John from Ruge's stepped in and went the extra mile-and-a-half, blasting through miles and miles of red tape. Very professional and friendly experience all around. Stopped in to get 3 of my recalls fulfilled on my vehicle that I purchased last year in California. Lent me a great 2019 loaner for the day, and received an amazing quote for a timing belt that beats most local mechanics by a long shot. And you can never go wrong getting parts and labor going the dealership route. I will definitely be visiting them again knowing my vehicle will be in perfect hands read more

I just took my 2011 Subaru Legacy to Ruge's Subaru for two recalls. They took my car in at the appointed hour and told me the repair would take up to three hours.
