We usually use Ruff Cuts Mobile Pet Grooming when we're in a pinch, and to be fair, they've done an alright job in the past and were always hit or miss depending on the groomer that came to our house. For that, I'm okay with giving them a star. To preface, I'm not terribly picky when it comes to Cooper's cuts. We usually give him a short summer cut so there isn't much room for error. Sometimes his face is just trimmed better than others. However, the last time we used them and he was brought back to us, he shot straight upstairs under the bed. Not thinking too much about it, I thanked her and gave her a nice tip. Unbeknownst to me at that time, the top of Cooper's little ear was cut. I noticed there was blood on his fur on the top of his head and looked closer to find the tip glued (or SOMETHING) back on. It was stuck on there with something dark and stiff with blood around it. Poor lil' guy. When the groomer dropped him off, there was no mention whatsoever about an accidental cut to his ear. I immediately reached out to Ruff Cuts via phone with no answer so I reached out via email with a photo. Silence. It's been a month since the incident and Cooper is now missing a part of the tip of his ear. I understand the weight of a negative review for a small business but at the same time, Ruff Cuts should really understand the value of their customers. All I was expecting was acknowledgement and an apology. read more

I had a very negative experience with this company and will not use them again. When I I called Ruff Cuts and scheduled an appointment, I was very clear to tell her I needed a nail trim, a bath and my dog's anal glands expressed (this is my standard routine appointment). I was booked 6 days later, Saturday morning at 11am. The groomer was an hour and 10 minutes late and no one bothered to call me and tell me. I had another appointment that morning and my mother just had to sit in my house all that extra time not knowing what to expect. When the groomer finally arrived, she informed my Mom that they didn't do anal gland expression and offered no apology or discount for being late. My Mom, being the lovely woman that she is, called my regular vet and took Casey in to get his anal glands expressed. At that time, the vet tech remarked at how awful a nail trim he had--stating that they must have used dull clippers b/c they were jagged and rough. She had to redo all the nails (for free, btw). So basically, I got my dog a $65 bath. Screw that. read more

I have the dog from hell when it comes to grooming! " He is a rescue and gets really scared" I have been called back to every grooming store that i have used asking me to pick up my dog because he is biting and they can't finish him. After about the 5th place I was about ready to give up and try to become a groomer myself. I even tried giving him pills that the vet gave me to calm him down and make him sleepy for the groomer but... They didn't work. My last chance was calling Ruff Cuts. After talking on line and giving them my dogs history etc. we finally decided to give it a try and set up an appt. They came out to my house and took him inside the van. Washed him and blow dried him. Then comes the knock on the door. He was trying to bite the girls that where working on him. Instead of handing him back over they took my into the van with my dog to calm him down and even let me hold him while they finished up. Needless to say the cut was not the most even but for all that they had to deal with they did a GREAT job and they even came back the next time that I called them. My second visit went even better than the first. This time Cat came out by herself. She remembered my dog and had a game plan ready. She was going to wash him and dry him then come and get me to hold him for his cut. But she is so great with him that in about 35 min she had him washed dried clipped and shaved and didn't even need my assistance! I can't tell you how happy this made me! I never thought that he would be able to get through a whole hair cut. I love this service! It is a bit more pricy than I would like to pay and I don't for my other dog, but it is so worth every Pennie. read more

Very convenient and friendly. They pulled into our driveway with their grooming van and went to work. When finished, our dog was still happy and really seemed to like the groomer. They sent her back to us with a St. Patrick's day bandana around her neck. I don't really put that kind of stuff on my dog so we got a good laugh seeing her "dressed up." We have had her groomed in the past at other places and she was always upset when the grooming was finished. Ruff Cuts is a little bit more pricey than some other groomers we have used, but definitely worth it for the convenience and not stressing our dog out. We will use them again. read more

My first experience with Ruff Cuts was fine. My second experience with Ruff Cuts was awful. My dog's hair cut was completely botched and they refused to fix it. I asked for a traditional lion cut (super easy), the back half of his body looked fine (shaved properly, etc) but they essentially did nothing to his front half. His hair was left long, his front legs were left unshaven, and there were a bunch of mats in his mane that they did not get out. I was also over charged $5. Which doesn't sound like much, but when you're paying $80 for a dog haircut it adds up. When I called to have someone address the issue it took a couple of days to get a hold of someone, and when I explained my problem the person had to contact the owner and she said she would call me back. She never called back, I had to call to call her and her response was essentially that they were not going to do anything about it. After explaining my situation once more she said she'd contact the owner again. She called back to let me know that the owner would be issuing me a refund, less $25 for the trouble of coming out. Even though I felt I was entitled to a full refund, I said that was fine but that I wanted to speak to the owner regardless. I was told the owner would contact me. I have not seen a check from these people and the owner has yet to call. So I have paid $80 for a terrible hair cut, and I'm going to have to pay full price to have it fixed which is going to turn into $100+. The reason why you pay extra for this service is supposed to be for the convenience factor but this experience has been anything but. Terrible grooming, terrible customer service, and it's now going to cost me twice the amount of money and time to have it done properly. I will never use this service again and I advise others to go elsewhere as well. read more

Here's the jest: you call up Ruff cuts and they will come to you to take care of your doggie and kitty grooming needs. Now 9 times out of 10 when you call said number you will get a voicemail. Just leave a message and they will call you back ASAP. They were even cool enough to work w/ me on meeting me around the corner since my apartment does not know I have a cat, and I'd like to keep it that way ;-) My cat Charlie got the works and came out shaved and smelling like lavender! Now it wasn't the best shave job ever, but the groomer said he was the squirmiest cat she'd ever seen, which in all honesty he is. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars, is price. My local vet I just found out (South Congress vet clinic) is cheaper and does a more even shave. But for a no hassle, save some gas experience it's really cool that they come to you. read more

They were great the first couple of times we used them, but the measure of a company and its service is how they respond when something goes wrong. The last time we used them the groomer was awful. Our poor dog came back with cuts all over that required a vet visit to take care of. Despite pictures of the scrapes and cuts sent to the management and promises of help initially given we've had repeated emails and phone calls go sadly unanswered. read more

Caroline did a phenomenal job on my kitty Gizmo. He has been professionally groomed for the past 7 years and she has done the best job I have ever had. Two washes and a clip. She also tipped us off to a possible start of an ear infection. It was wonderful to have someone come right to the house for grooming. If anyone out there has a persian/long hair cat that needs grooming this is the way to go. Ruff Cuts and Caroline are not "big box" or "chain stores" (aka Petco) and their service, attention and care to the animal, and length of time spent shows this. They are not the "cheapest" on the block so if you are looking for a Walmart quality job for a Walmart price then you should probably go to Walmart. However, if you care for your animal and want a fair market price for an excellent job then this is the place to go. Thanks Caroline! read more

Don't expect when you call that they will answer the phone, or bother to call you back. Apparently this is someone's "side business", and customer service isn't to high up on their priority list. I called on Saturday morning, (they opened around 8:30 and closed at 5pm I believe) and the entire day passed without returning my phone call. Instead I get a text message at 3pm the following Monday!! Not a phone call, a text message!! If you seriously can't be bothered to return a customers phone call, and book an appointment with them, why are you in business at all? Then, you "refer" me to another mobile groomer, when I tell you, "wow, you can't be bothered to return my call?". Lady claims to text because that's how she got my message, when I called and left a voicemail!! Do you really think I'm going to take a referral for one of your buddies businesses, when this is how you provide customer service? Give me a break!! read more

I have 3 cats that had never been groomed. After research I realized that mobile grooming is expensive. Especially for cats! Ruff Cuts was very reasonable. I found a cheaper groomer, but they seemed very dog oriented. Ruff Cuts sent Caroline out to groom all 3 of them for me. I had been nervous about my cats freaking out & also getting what I paid for. I was very pleased. Caroline has cats of her own & was very at ease with my cats as they were with her. Well, as "at ease" as they can be with their 1st groom! Of course they didn't like their baths, but they quickly recovered & even enjoyed their brushing. It was obvious their comfort was Caroline's top priority. She was patient & very knowledgeable. I will definitely use her services again. Things to know about cat grooming: They do not handle blow drying very well so there may be some areas that don't get completely dry. I'm sure she could have gotten them completely dry, but as I learned from watching to do so would probably be too upsetting an experience for the cat. It was better to leave some damp patches than to upset them more than necessary. If you want the furminator treatment it can only be done on dry fur, so if your cat is not tolerant of the blow dryer they can't be furminated. In the end 2 of my 3 cats were dried & furminated. The 3rd cat was too upset to tolerate the blow dryer so Caroline suggested a lion cut. She was my worst shedder so I gave it a try & we both love it! I can pet her without getting covered with fur & she can not get enough petting! read more

Caroline was absolutely amazing with my cat - she has the patience of a saint and was so compassionate, treating her as if she were her own pet. Evidently she has extensive veterinary training as well, which is valuable to know. Thanks Caroline! read more

I LOVE THESE LADIES. My cat looks so handsome and is so happy when he gets his monthly spa day with Ruff Cuts. They are prompt and sweet and treat my 'son' in the best possible way. Ruff Cuts is A+ in my books- LOVE them Thank You! Stephanie did a wonderful job on my pet, was friendly and answered all the questions I had. The van was clean, and both my pet and I were happy. For the convenience of a groomer coming to you, completing the job in about an hour, and my pet coming out clean, pretty and happy, this service can't be beat! And the email reminders are awesome! They'll even text clients if we want! Thank you Ruff Cuts, very professional company- definitely using you again and recommending you to all my friends ! read more

You made my nervous little dog happy & I love you for it! Thank you!

Caroline did an excellent job with my two cats. I dare say that it was the best grooming that they've ever had, and I couldn't be more pleased. Yes, Ruff Cuts is a bit more expensive than what I'm used to paying, but they are friendly, prompt, and do an excellent job. I highly recommend them and I will definitely use them again when my kitties need another grooming. read more

I was really excited to try them out due to the mostly glowing reviews - called on Tuesday, February 11th and have not received a return call? My first Yelp bust - boo! read more

The owner of this company just flat out does not care about customer service. Don't bother calling you won't get a call back! There aren't very many mobile pet groomers in Austin so all you entrepreneurs out there can take the business! Bless you all this place sucks! read more

We have been using Ruff Cuts several times for our Coton De Tulear. Stephanie is an amazing groomer. It's just too bad her employer doesn't know much about customer service. I, too run a business and know how important your customers are to your business. We had an appointment at 4 PM and they didn't get here until after 5 pm. When I called and phoned them, the girl who answered the phone said, "we had trouble with our truck". Ok...but then why didn't you call me and tell me you would be over an HOUR late? I explained to the woman that being 5 - 10 minutes late is acceptable, but over an hour and no phone call? Very poor customer services. I asked her for a discount on our bill and she said she would call the owner and then I heard back from her and the owner said, "no discount". WOW! This owner needs to learn about customer service, because with her attitude she won't be in business for very long. read more

I wish I didn't have to give them one star. I called and called and called and only got voicemail. I left a message twice on different days and never received a call back. They either don't want your business or they don't care about customer service! Don't waste your time to just be frustrated!! read more

I unfortunately had the same horrible experience as others have posted. I've had them groom my dog a few times, but then they cut her soooo unbelievably bad that it was shocking. I rushed her to the vet where they even wanted to do surgery. I had them contact my vet, and of course legally my vet can't say 100% it was the groomer because they didn't witness it , but I know my animals and this was a huge injury immediately after the groom- and fresh blood. Very first thing my dog did was come inside and roll over and there was blood and a huge gash. The groomer acknowledges she cut her via texts and calls, asked me NOT to tell her boss ( I agreed), and would help me in any way. ( course didn't) Then the owner contacts me saying she's aware of the situation and blamed it on my dog? Funny how that, " please don't tell" applied lol. Then changed the story and said, it must have been there before? I'm so sure- look at the pic. Makes me want to cry just looking at that. It took my baby 7 weeks to heal, cost me hundreds of dollars, and a lot of care. Poor thing was injured and this company could care less. Never offered to assist in pay, never even checked on her. Disgusting the lack of empathy, and then take your money??? I wasn't even refunded that. Tells you what kinda world we live in when people hurt other loving beings, and make a living off of it. read more

Ruff Cuts Mobile Pet Grooming - Pet Groomers Near Me

My husband and I are new to the area, and used Ruff Cuts today to groom our three Cavalier King Charles spaniels. Victoria is the groomer who came to our house. She is new with Ruff Cuts, but has a lot of experience and passion for grooming animals. If I could give Victoria more than 5 stars, I would. She is fabulous....hands down the best groomer I've ever had for my dogs. She was very precise about asking and understanding exactly what I wanted done with the dogs. She was loving and patient with them, and took her time to do everything exactly right. I highly recommend Ruff Cuts, and Victoria, for anyone looking for a mobile pet grooming service. read more

PERFECT SCORE for RUFF CUTS! Caroline gave my cat a beautiful lion-cut and it was the best grooming experience I or my kitty have ever had. What a luxury to have the groomer come to us and not have to deal with the hassle of loading the cat in the hot car for two car rides! Not to mention the wait time in some kennel for me to get back to a location to pick her up. The cost was the same as the "other guys" I drive to so I consider it an absolute deal (and the cost was exactly the same as the quote- refreshing)! The cat was also clearly unfazed after the experience as she was back to muching away at her food bowl and going about her business- no hiding under the bed or dirty looks! I'm so glad I tried Ruff Cuts! read more

I've gotten my long hair cat shaved by 4 or 5 different groomers over the past few years. Ruff Cuts is the best quality shave/cut he's gotten. I was able to get appointment right away, they were on time and fast. They have a really nice mobile unit compared to others I've seen. read more

I kind of hate to write this review because I had several very good experiences after having them referred to me by a coworker. But then on my last groom, the groomer called to say she had cut my dog on the inner back leg and that it didn't look serious but that I should come look at it and decide if she wanted to keep going or taking him to the vet. He was bleeding a but but she said it looked surface level and when I observed him, he didn't seem upset at all. She said she would finish up and get the wound cleaned up. She did and I took him back inside. I didn't love the idea of him having to get staples and he didn't seem bothered so I figured I would keep an eye on it for the next day or so and if it didn't show signs of healing, I would take him in. Within 36 hours the cut went from fine to so infected the tissue had started to die. He had to be heavily sedated and undergo debridement before they could close him back up. $600 dollars and now he has two weeks in a cone. I take responsibility for not taking him to the vet sooner it didn't seem too bad but you would hope when paying for a premium of undivided attention, that your dog wouldn't get cut at all. They refunded the groom and agreed that the groomer should have called management right away where they would have told her to go with me to one of the vets they partner with but that didn't happen. They offered me free baths since I told them I really couldn't trust them near my 10 year old, mini poodle anymore. Such a shame because it had been so good before now. read more

Terrible grooming and terrible customer service. The mobile groomer showed up and I was very specific about the type of haircut we wanted for our pup, "DO NOT SHAVE HIM and give him a teddy bear face cut." After about an hr and a half the groomer called my cell (instead of coming to the door like a normal person) and said he was ready. I went outside to the grooming van and was shocked! She had shaved him with a 1 guard, ie he was completely bald!! He no longer looked like a yorkie, instead he looked like a sick chihuaha!! Not only that, after being quoted $65 over the phone the bill was $95. I could have shaved him and saved the $100. The groomer knew right away that she had screwed up and apologized. Needless to say my wife and I were not happy. We called the owner to see what their "customer satisfaction" policy was and were unable to get in contact with a manager or owner and left a MSG for someone to call us back. 3 days later we still had yet to hear back so I called back. This time someone answered. I politely asked if they have a cust satisfaction policy and the girl was quick to say "of course we do, what is your concern?". I told her what had happened, and asked what their SPECIFIC policy was in regards to cust satisfaction? She could not give me an answer and assured me that the owner would promptly call me back to address the issue. This was two and a half weeks ago, since then I've left multiple messages and have been stonewalled. Petsmart could have done a better job and at half the price. Do yourself a favor and don't use ruff cuts, you'll be sorry if you do. read more
