HOURS HAVE CHANGED. The most dry chicken I've ever had. The breast was tough and had the same texture as beef jerky. The thigh was dry and shredded/deflated like the turkey in Christmas Vacation. The fries were soggy and undercooked. Raw potato! The worst part was waiting 42 minutes in the drive thru for this dry chicken! read more

Man, this place has seriously declined since the last time I had it. I even tried to come by three other times when I was in town, but it was closed. Honestly, I'll probably never go back. At this point, they either need to shut down or get it together. Now it's drive-thru only,so no more walk-up window, even midday when I went. My food? Old. Not hot. Tasted like it was fried in old grease, or maybe it was leftover chicken from the day before. I couldn't even eat much of it. And yes, they're still rude at the window. Normally, I can overlook bad service if the food is amazing (foodie math, I guess). But when the food is bad and the service is rude? No thanks I looked back at a photo I took years ago--my food used to look fresh and appetizing. This time it was the total opposite. I should've taken a photo, but honestly, I was too distraught. Straight into the trash it went. Why Rudy? read more

In my opinion, Rudy's serves the best fried chicken in the country. Rudy's is a no frills, drive-thru only spot that has stood the test of time. I ordered a 2 piece mixed meal (pictured) and a 3 piece mixed meal. Rudy's changed the cut of the fries from skinny fries to larger wedges, but they still taste the same. The chicken hasn't changed one bit and is still the best in country to me. Expect to wait anywhere from 30 - 40 minutes in the drive thru depending on how many cars are in line, but that's just a testament to how many people come here to buy this chicken. read more

This chicken is the bomb.com! The last two times that I was in Dallas, I make this a required stop. The only thing that would make it better is if they 1) had hot sauce (which is lowkey crazy for a fried chicken spot not to have lol) and 2) actually had some koolaid prepared! I legit never drink koolaid so it would be like a special treat, ha! read more

While visiting a family member in near by hospital, we inquired of a good food not too far away and heard raving reviews for Rudy's. We set out to try it. First thing to note -- the drive thru wait is extremely long. Even with two lanes, once you're in line, there's no way to back out, so be prepared to commit. When we finally got our food, the portions were decent for the price, but unfortunately, the taste didn't live up to the hype. The chicken was very salty and tasted like it had been cooked in old grease, which overpowered everything else. Overall, not the worst meal, but definitely not worth the long wait. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but based on this visit, we won't return. read more

I was really disappointed with my experience at Rudy's Chicken. They don't seem to keep consistent business hours -- I've shown up more than once during posted hours only to find them closed. When I did manage to catch them open, the staff was rude and dismissive, which made an already frustrating situation worse. Reliability and basic customer service are the bare minimum for any business, and unfortunately Rudy's fell short on both. I wanted to support a local spot, but after repeated issues and poor treatment, I won't be coming back. Hopefully management takes this feedback seriously and makes some changes... though at this point that's extremely doubtful. read more

Since the 90's I've been a fan of Rudy's. It's been a little over a decade now since I've been back but today that nostalgic smell and taste took over my body. I had the 3 pc leg basket and it did not disappoint. Love a hot crispy chicken and French fries. The wait wasn't so bad and the service was southern and kind. read more

So after getting home I come to the realization that they changed...what happened to the seasoning and fries.

They did not wanna provide service to the customers they will leave you standing in line for unknown amount of hours until they just tell you oh this isn't open or oh we're not serving this window or we don't have that, but we don't have this no matter if you traveled on a train for two hours to get to the location! customer service people are extremely rude and you can tell that it's just a bunch of hot degenerate fails working in the bed covered in grease and leaving a miserable trashy life stuck in Dallas, Texas with no hopes and dreams of even a solid relationship in life because they can't even maintain a position in a lame over greasy roach infested chicken spot! And on top of that, they let people stand out in front of the store. I harass you for money while saying oh we can't Serve you Food: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 1/5 Group size 1 person, Not sure Wait time 1+ hour Vegetarian options None Dietary restrictions Eat here u will get aids Parking space Difficult to find parking Parking options Paid parking lot, Paid street parking, Parking is unavailable Parking Trash read more

This place has been a favorite of mine for many years. Yes there is always a line and you will have to wait but it's more than worth the wait. Rudy's has some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. I usually order their chicken wings combo which comes with fries, pickles, & bread. Their seasoning is so good! They also have regular chicken, whole chickens, and chicken tenders. I recommend Rudy's Chicken but also advise anyone to pack their patience when going to the location. read more

Best chicken in the USA! We typically gladly wait at least a half hour in line. We swing by, after visiting the VA hospital on Lancaster rd. we always get the 10 piece, with fries, pickles, bread. Soooooo good! read more

I came before and the chicken was amazing the wings at least. So I came back for another try so I got the 4 wings with fries again. I made it home started to eat the food which it was a wing on top but when I went for the next piece of chicken and pulled it out and it was as a leg. I checked the other chicken and it was another leg. I got 1 wing and 2 legs tuck under the fries I don't like legs and that's not what I paid for. I felt like that was real lazy of them and if it wasn't anymore wings they could have said so very disappointing. Fool me once shame on you I'm not giving 2 more tries. read more

It could've been seasoned more but it wasn't bad. Service was ok not in a hurry to go back.

It's a Dallas staple. The prices are reasonable. The food is good. The lines are usually long unless you come super early. I wish the service was better but when I'm in the area I'll stop by. Also, this isn't a sit down restaurant. You can walk up and order at the window or wait in the drive thru line. read more

Great chicken place. I used to frequent (as a paramedic in Dallas) the original Henderson's Chicken when Herman Henderson ran that at Thomas and Hall decades ago. I've tried both of his grandkids' places and was not impressed. This is much closer to that bit of heaven that Herman created (hey, it's still not as good as old man Henderson's chicken, but I suspect none ever will be). Everything we had here was great. Another patron encouraged us to be sure and get some Rudy's sauce, and we were glad we did. You should do that too. Will return next time I am in Dallas. read more

Last week. Been wanting to try this place for the longest time. Working near the VA, today was the day!!!! Bland fried chicken; cold limp fries. The pickles and the kool-aid in a bottle were the show stoppers. So disappointed. Never again! read more

I haven't been to this restaurant in 2 years due to a bad order previously so I thought I'd give it another try. Bad decision. This place need to be visited by the health department I asure you it would be a immediate close down. They need to clean that grease they are cooking with and clean the windows on the building its really not healthy looking. I waited in a line for 30 min's or so I thought to myself there must have been a big change in food quality so excited I decided to wait like thee others. " Absolutely not" the food was grease drowned and the chicken pieces where so small it looked more like a bird instead of chicken the price definitely did not reflect the quality received. I like to stay positive on most review's, but I can't fake the truth on this. Rudy's need to close down do a thorough cleaning to re-establish their "namesake", they have been around for quite a while I've been told, I'm not originally from here, but was introduced to this place about 15 years ago and I can contest that it isn't the same. Rudy's don't take advantage of your popularity and continue to give poor quality to low income patrons who think they're getting great food. Sadly somebody is going to get seriously sick and not make it off that stuff, be prideful y'all have a platform and loyalty from many. "Clean up and represent". Sorry I threw the food away before writing this review so I don't have anything to show but rest assured it wasn't a pretty sight. Rudys, let's keep our black businesses going. The struggle is real and is at a all-time high in loss right now and it's because of negligence and undo. Don't be a part of that. Keep the community with something to be proud of. read more

I waited almost 2hrs. I probably won't come back lucky I'm just visiting. 9:07p and it 10:53p

We were told this was a MUST and I have to say...a must...No! It was crowded, drive-thru to the street so we just knew this was thee spot...but No! The employer taking the order had an attitude, we thought maybe he was having a bad work day so we brushed it off. The CHICKEN-EXTREMELY too much salty seasoning. It was crunchy tho. The fries were drenched with seasoning and I'm not commenting on that white bread at the bottom of the box. We had a large order so my daughter said she don't believe the chicken was clean because she had a feather and she was grossed by the veins. So my thoughts were...not a MUST, but if you just want some chicken I guess its alright. The sign where you take the order needs to be replaced, the building needs a fresh paint because its just old and if its that busy, they making funds, update the establishment. read more

A staple in South Dallas that continues to survive the test of time. Admittedly, the chicken is less flavorful than my original visit 13 years ago but it still gets the job done for solid fried chicken. I wish they would've stuck with the fries they had from my OG visit years ago as well. I'll continue to support a couple times a year read more

Just came back from Rudy's and waited in the drive thru for 30 minutes. I've been there several times before and have always enjoyed it in fact I drove 40 minutes across town. But THIS time the food was Extremely SALTY and the pieces were puny. I got a breast that was even smaller than the thigh. Oh by the way, when ordering the intercom volume was low they could barely hear me. I don't know, maybe I caught them on a bad day read more

Why on earth do people flock to this place? We decided to give them a try since we were kinda in the area and let's just say that we were highly disappointed! The line was wrapped around the building but it moved at a good pace. Customer service could use some work, I can't eat from a place with bad energy. Aside from all that, the chicken was not all that! I can fry chicken at home and dump season salt on top, I really thought we would be getting something different and special. read more

Customer service was so bad I got the wrong order he was saying no that is your order I said no sir that is not my order he had an attitude kept arguing back with me then he went back and talk to somebody else the person that took my order was a Young lady but it sounded like a young lady because you can't see inside then when he got my order right the chicken the fry was so cold it seemed like it was Yesterday's chicken The liver was so cold read more

Honestly the chicken was hot, crispy and delicious! Sprinkled with seasoned salt on top. The fries however both times I have tried this place, are waaaaay over salted! I would definitely go back for the chicken, but I would ask for no salt on the fries. read more

Rudy's is the best chicken in Dallas- hands down. The prices are great and the line is always packed. I ask for extra seasoning because it's that good, but be careful not to numb your lips because it's very salty. They don't have dirty rice anymore (disregard it on the menu). And the fries are classic and also top with their seasoning. Be prepared to wait in the drive thru or out front, but it's well worth it! read more

I am aware that this place makes very tasty chicken and that you have to stay in a line for a long time. (Today it was 1.5 hrs) I get that; but when I patiently waited in my car creeping up to the drive-through window ( an hour) to place my order I cannot fathom how in the heck you take the order from the other side from three cars; before you address me!!!! And I know that they saw me because they have cameras at the order window. If I wasn't boxed in, meaning you cannot leave the line once you get in it, I would have left!!! Five stars! This is my second time in Dallas, first time @ Rudy's and it was good! Slow but good! And honestly I didn't mind the wait at all, the line seemed to flow pretty well. Been going to Rudy's off and on for years. (((NEVER AGAIN))) ... took an extremely long time to get to the window, 25 minuets, then took about another 10 minuets for someone to come to the window. A lady finally came and asked for my order #, handed me my food and it was cold, I always try my fries and they had absolutely no heat and greasy. I gave order back to a guy who came to the window after I tapped on it and I assume he stuck it in a microwave because the ketchup packs were hot, I asked him what happened and his reply was "to be honest with you, it wasn't that cold" WTF?? Then I couldn't leave for another 5 minutes because there was a car truck in front of me at the second window waiting on their order SMH! ((((NEVER AGAIN!!!))) 1 star for Roberta and the fast service. 1 star for the fries and that's it. I had a taste for some chicken tenders and decided to go to Rudy's. DO. NOT.
