With minimal seating inside this is more so a to go spot but as I've passed by it so many times I finally stopped by to pick up an order. Ordered ahead and it was ready just as I arrived which was great. Place is a bit awkward to get out of based on an odd location, but it really is hard to miss . The burger itself underwhelmed for me. Although the crisp on the edges of the patty was great, my 'Rudy' burger seemed small and the bun, although in proportion, seemed lack luster. I picked up on a promo so ended up with 2 burgers for $10, which was a great deal, but paying $10, the regular price for this, seems high. Cheese was meh, probably better without. Tomatoes nice an juicy but the lettuce was meager and super wilted. Probably pass next time around unless I hear changes have been put in place. Staff was super friendly.. I came here on a weekday evening and Rudy's certainly satisfied my late night cravings! I loved the classic diner/burger vibe of the restaurant. The servers were welcoming and helpful when ordering as well, as it was my first time there. I had the Rudy burger, which is their classic cheeseburger and it was the epitome of the perfect GREASY burger! The patty was juicy and had a delicious grilled aroma. We came here around 20 minutes past opening on a weekday morning and the two people working were already so busy with delivery app orders. The person taking our order and making our food was really nice - she even brought it to the table for us. Got the Rudy cheeseburger with a single pattie and it was a straightforward good cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and their own special sauce. I enjoyed the crispy edges of the pattie and unlike other people's experiences, our patties were not burnt. I was also a fan of how light and fluffy the burger bun was. However, it was pretty oily. We shared a regular poutine which was a good size to share between two people. The poutine had a generous amount of cheese curds which is something new as other places are stingy with their cheese. Really great burgers!! They had an Uber eats BOGO promo so I ordered pickup. We got the Bogo rude dude burgers which are doubles. I definitely recommend going with a double because they're thin smash patties. Once there, we ordered fries. We got the thin ones which are really similar to McDonald's. Overall, very good meal. I would probably order just 1 slice of cheese next time because it was a bit much with the sauce as well. Biggest miss was that they don't put pickles on the burger :( but they sell pickle chips so I was surprised. You're good to sit or takeout. There aren't a ton of tables though. I got the rude dude with 2 patties and it was so satisfying. Thick cut fries were also great. Coleslaw salad was good but it was a puny portion. A solid 4.5. This place definitely lived up to its hype. I have heard so so many good reviews of Rudy but never really got a chance to try them. Yesterday we happened to be in downtown and decided to give them a try. With the pandemic we have just been picking up food and enjoying it in the car. Burgers are easy to to eat and thought why not try Rudy. My order was the cheeseburger, thin cut fries and coleslaw. The cheeseburger was so basic and so lovely I absolutely dislike complicated burgers and with their burger menu so so limited you already know you're at right burger joint. The burger itself was a 9/10. I thought the patty was way overcooked since these are thin patties they become over crispy other than that I truly enjoyed every bite of this burger. The thin cut fries were amazing cooked to perfection. And the temperature was perfect. The coleslaw was not that great so there are two types- vinaigrette or mayonnaise. Theirs is the vinaigrette and I prefer the latter. But overall it was super fresh. Overall a fantastic meal. Definitely amongst one of the best burgers I have had in Toronto.I'm already craving their the burger and fries. Will definitely go back and will also try their famous poutine. I'm a burger freak...can't believe it's taken me this long to try Rudy, one of the city's most talked about (and instagrammed) burger joints. Got a Rude Dude (double cheeseburger) and damn, that's one fine ass burger! The meat was so well seared, it had this great, almost crispy char. I loved it, though it was pretty greasy. Dave actually said he liked it better than Burger's Priest (Yonge/Lawrence location) which is saying a lot. For me, it's definitely up there among Toronto's best. Washed it down with a strawberry milkshake, which was disappointing. It drank like a cup of milk with mild strawberry flavour. Definitely skippable. read more

This is not your typical burger joint - the owner makes the best tasting burger around, it has a surprise ingredient - smoked meat - and their steak sandwich is fantastic ! Weirdly Little Italy doesn't have many eat-in lunch options that are open for lunch, so we stumbled upon Rudy by chance. Glad we did! We all had the friend chicken sandwiches with fries. The closest thing to Shake Shack in Toronto!! The first time I tried Shake Shack was when I went to California and it was hands down the best fast food burger I've ever had. I thought it was way better than In-N-Out. So when I saw pictures of Rudy, the burger really reminded me of Shake Shake. I knew I just had to come here and try it out. The menu is very simple, which is honestly a good thing. I just hate it when there's too many things on the menu and you have no idea what you should get. There's 3 types of burgers/sandwiches: The Rudy (cheeseburger), the Rude Dude (double cheeseburger), and the Valentino (fried chicken sandwich). I opted to get the Rude Dude and a small poutine. Presentation wise it could use a bit more work. Perhaps it was just the burger I got, as I can see in some of the photos on here that the burgers looked a lot better. It may be because they thought we were doing take out and so the burger was wrapped and smushed. Taste wise though, it was so delicious. Super greasy but flavourful. Every bite with the soft bun and juicy meat was extremely satisfying. It really did remind me of Shake Shack. The poutine was alright, nothing to write home about. I personally think Rudy is better than Burger Priest and I'll definitely be going back to get more and also try out the Chicken sandwich! read more

Situated on the south side of College, you can't miss the huge Rudy sign. A half-dozen or so tables within plus a few picnic tables outside for overflow. We popped in for an early lunch at 11:30am on a Friday in September. One cook in the back and one cashier/waitress up front taking orders. Once you order and pay, you're asked to take a seat and they'll take the food to you when ready. Seems to be a popular place for high-school kids in the area as they started pouring in around noon. Let's talk about the food. The buns were not toasted to crispy (mushy). Don't know if it's because of the secret sauce, but didn't hold up well while eating. The cheese looked and tasted like the square processes type. The burger patty was smashed too much, making it too flat and crispy instead of juicy. The fries were limp and not crispy. Could have used just a little bit more time in the deep frier. Ordered the Rude Dude and a Big Rudy, a vanilla milkshake and an orange canned drink, totalling $49. Maybe because we were the first sit-down customer of the day, they probably needed more time for prep. May visit the other Rudy locations to give them another try. read more

I want to make it clear from the start that this review is primarily about one food item. I usually avoid leaving such reviews because I don't think it paints a fair picture of the total experience, because I have somewhat narrow tastes as you may know from my other reviews. While I think RUDY is known for their burgers and chicken, I'm gonna talk about the poutine. I'm a native Montrealer, and I've been living in Toronto for almost two years. In that time, I have yet to find anything even passable in terms of poutine. I lament to my friends that the closest I can get to the taste of a classic poutine is at the Cineplex - draw your own conclusions, and don't even get me started on the travesty that is Smoke's. I had RUDY on my list for a while after reading an article saying they had some of the best poutine in Toronto. Now, I've been burned before, and they're not exactly next door, so it took me a while until I was in the vicinity, but I didn't let the opportunity pass me by. I ordered a small one, just to try, and of course a milkshake ;P. All I can say is wow! Maybe I've been away from the homeland too long, but for the first time in this city I found a poutine here with gravy that tasted flavourful, fries that were crispy on the outside and still semi-solid on the inside, and curds that half melted and half squeaked - the best of both worlds! Double bonus, the gravy is homemade and vegetarian - beet based! I was blown away. To give some backstory, one of the big issues and misunderstandings that people have about cheese curds, you need to eat them fresh - day fresh. Once you refrigerate curds they lose their squeak, and then they're just immature cheddar cheese (read: really nothing special, and rather boring). (OK, sometimes you can refrigerate them for a bit, and they'll last a bit, but you need to eat them within the first two-three days max). The whole excitement is about squeaky salty squishy chunks of cheese! For some reason, in this province of Ontario, it seems nobody carries fresh curds, you can only find them refrigerated, even at the cheese shops - totally defeating the purpose! I don't know what the people at RUDY are doing to make the cheese taste that good, but whatever it is, don't stop! You've got a winner! I'm also very excited that RUDY is opening a new location a block away from me, on Duncan between Queen and Richmond, so now I can get my poutine fix much more often than is healthy for me xD.
