Rudy is getting too expensive. I remember it was a quick & cheap eat late at night after having a night out on college or in the clubbing district back when I was in the undergrad. The quality of the food is still consistent doe - the smash burdger is still top tier in the game, and the shoestring fries are irresistible. But then almost 20 dollars for these two? I'm not so sure.
With minimal seating inside this is more so a to go spot but as I've passed by it so many times I finally stopped by to pick up an order. Ordered ahead and it was ready just as I arrived which was great. Place is a bit awkward to get out of based on an odd location, but it really is hard to miss . The burger itself underwhelmed for me. Although the crisp on the edges of the patty was great, my 'Rudy' burger seemed small and the bun, although in proportion, seemed lack luster. I picked up on a promo so ended up with 2 burgers for $10, which was a great deal, but paying $10, the regular price for this, seems high. Cheese was meh, probably better without. Tomatoes nice an juicy but the lettuce was meager and super wilted. Probably pass next time around unless I hear changes have been put in place. Staff was super friendly.. I really wanted to love this place, but can't this time.
Fantastic smash burgers that will do the trick. Perfectly crispy and cheesy and cooked perfectly. loved the chicken burger as well. Bread pudding was phenomena.
Went back to Rudy recently and its still one of the best burgers I've had. The buttered buns are amazing. I will alwsys try to stop here when in town
We came here around 20 minutes past opening on a weekday morning and the two people working were already so busy with delivery app orders. The person taking our order and making our food was really nice - she even brought it to the table for us. Got the Rudy cheeseburger with a single pattie and it was a straightforward good cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and their own special sauce. I enjoyed the crispy edges of the pattie and unlike other people's experiences, our patties were not burnt. I was also a fan of how light and fluffy the burger bun was. However, it was pretty oily. We shared a regular poutine which was a good size to share between two people. The poutine had a generous amount of cheese curds which is something new as other places are stingy with their cheese. Definitely a good cheeseburger place that I'm glad to have tried.
Great burgers and fries!! I was looking for a casual burger joint that would satisfy the odd "American style" burger cravings I get here and there and this place is it! I got the rude dude with 2 patties and it was so satisfying. Thick cut fries were also great. Coleslaw salad was good but it was a puny portion. Note they seem to be really busy with deliver app orders. And they forgot to include my coleslaw in my order so I had to go back hence docking 1 star.
A solid 4.5. This place definitely lived up to its hype. I have heard so so many good reviews of Rudy but never really got a chance to try them. Yesterday we happened to be in downtown and decided to give them a try. With the pandemic we have just been picking up food and enjoying it in the car. Burgers are easy to to eat and thought why not try Rudy. My order was the cheeseburger, thin cut fries and coleslaw. The cheeseburger was so basic and so lovely I absolutely dislike complicated burgers and with their burger menu so so limited you already know you're at right burger joint. The burger itself was a 9/10. I thought the patty was way overcooked since these are thin patties they become over crispy other than that I truly enjoyed every bite of this burger. The thin cut fries were amazing cooked to perfection. And the temperature was perfect. The coleslaw was not that great so there are two types- vinaigrette or mayonnaise. Theirs is the vinaigrette and I prefer the latter. But overall it was super fresh. Overall a fantastic meal. Definitely amongst one of the best burgers I have had in Toronto.I'm already craving their the burger and fries. Will definitely go back and will also try their famous poutine. The price point is good too.

I thought that the double cheeseburger was kind of small for the price I was paying. It was a small cheeseburger. I was not impressed with the poutine. It came in small container and taste like any other poutine. I was expecting something special from Rudy.
I decided to get the Rudy, there was a massive line up and people ordering in and out like crazy, pretty small size hamburger but really fresh there using fresh beef not frozen not sure if they grind their own meat like ozzy but still pretty good, I think their fries they cut it then freeze it, I also tried their fried chicken burger was really good crispy little spicy and meat super tender but ozzy is still the best in my opinion but this place was pretty decent and good effort

The burgers are consistently, mouth-wateringly delicious. Quality beef is seared perfectly to crispy edged, Maillard Reaction scrumptiousness. This is the secret to a great smash burger. The flattening of the meat onto a hot griddle ensures that more meat is in contact with the high heat - creating a browned, charred and toasty flavour. And smashing the meat properly in the first few seconds of contact with the griddle ensures that the juices are locked in, creating that perfect combination of crispy and juicy that makes a good smash burger crave-worthy. And the Rudy smash burger is crave-worthy indeed. Their burgers are garnished with just the right amount of toppings to complement - but not overwhelm - the perfectly seared meat. We highly recommend that you "tattoo" your burger - as in, add bacon (because bacon makes everything better!). We don't know where Rudy sources their bacon, but daayyyuuummm it's fantastic. Rudy also make a mean chicken burger (The Valentino - as in Rudy Valentino - get it?!? lol), and the fries are scrumptious. We hear that their poutine is off-the-charts good but we can't vouch for that personally as we've not had the poutine - yet! Also from the "We hear it's great but we haven't tried it yet" list: pickle chips and milkshakes (we love, love, love that they do only the holy trinity of flavours - chocolate, strawberry and vanilla!). Why haven't we tried these yet, you may ask? Simple. We're addicted to the tattooed Big Rudy and straight up fries, and no matter how hard we try to break out of that delicious rut we just haven't been able to get there. But we're gonna - someday!

Burgers are really good but the gravy in the poutine lacked flavor. We always get the double for more meat since the patties are quite thin. However I do think that Rudy's patty to bun ratio with cheese is quite good. Some staff wear gloves and some don't when handling your food and money. read more
Dropped in for a quick lunch. We love that this location has seating rather than just pick up counter. Burger and fries are tasty, and they've got glass bottles of coke! Staff were friendly and place was very clean. read more

My favourite burger spot in the city! This location is the most consistent with the best quality burgers. Ordered from here for new year's eve and was not disappointed - the burgers and fries were packaged and carried well, the brownie was delicious and the chocolate milkshake (with Kawartha dairy ice cream!) was the best I've ever had. Always looking forward to my next Rudy burger! read more

Months and months of seeing this place on instagram and I finally got to try it today. And you know what, I really enjoyed it. The burger was a little small but I had also ordered the poutine which was also delicious. Big chunks of cheese curds on them. I found that I enjoyed the plain fries more. Lol (personal preference) I will be back to try more items on their menu. Their fried chicken burger looks amazing! Tip: they only accept cash or debit. read more

I believe this food place is a danger to anyone who buys there. I went to Rudy today to try out the burgers and see what was the hype about. It tasted like McDonald's but way more greasy. Fries were OK. The worst thing is that when I went to use the washroom I saw RAT POOP on the outside. I almost threw up. I might make a complain directly to the restaurant manager because this is seriously dangerous to people who eat this food. read more

Valentino Good chicken sandwich. The chicken was fried to perfection. Encompassing the bread. The slaw and sauce was just the right combination overall. Simple as that. Fries Good. Beyond the burger meat, I was a little underwhelmed, the bun seems store bought and the fries were bland. For the purest, who are all about meat, you'll probably walk away agreeing that it's the best burger place in town. For someone like me who likes a "busy burger" and a solid side, it's only ok. read more

I need a Rude Dude! (A Double Cheeseburger) Sadly The Ruby with one patty was small and cannot satisfy me. Simple and well made with fresh ingredients. A little pricey for a small burger though at $6.50. That "dude" at the cash was super friendly. Cash or Debit only. read more

Been hyped up to go to Rudy after their delicious Instagram posts. Picturesque perfect burgers, tasty and juicy...but at a very steep price. If money is not a factor for you then Rudy is a great place. Their burgers are cooked to order and are beautiful. However - at $7 for a single cheese burger which is marginally tastier than a JBC from Wendy's @ $2.19...will not satisfy. Wish I could give Rudy a second chance, but their small portions do not justify coming back. Burger was decent however! read more

The closest thing to Shake Shack in Toronto!! The first time I tried Shake Shack was when I went to California and it was hands down the best fast food burger I've ever had. I thought it was way better than In-N-Out. So when I saw pictures of Rudy, the burger really reminded me of Shake Shake. I knew I just had to come here and try it out. The menu is very simple, which is honestly a good thing. I just hate it when there's too many things on the menu and you have no idea what you should get. There's 3 types of burgers/sandwiches: The Rudy (cheeseburger), the Rude Dude (double cheeseburger), and the Valentino (fried chicken sandwich). I opted to get the Rude Dude and a small poutine. Presentation wise it could use a bit more work. Perhaps it was just the burger I got, as I can see in some of the photos on here that the burgers looked a lot better. It may be because they thought we were doing take out and so the burger was wrapped and smushed. Taste wise though, it was so delicious. Super greasy but flavourful. Every bite with the soft bun and juicy meat was extremely satisfying. It really did remind me of Shake Shack. The poutine was alright, nothing to write home about. I personally think Rudy is better than Burger Priest and I'll definitely be going back to get more and also try out the Chicken sandwich! read more

I want to make it clear from the start that this review is primarily about one food item. I usually avoid leaving such reviews because I don't think it paints a fair picture of the total experience, because I have somewhat narrow tastes as you may know from my other reviews. While I think RUDY is known for their burgers and chicken, I'm gonna talk about the poutine. I'm a native Montrealer, and I've been living in Toronto for almost two years. In that time, I have yet to find anything even passable in terms of poutine. I lament to my friends that the closest I can get to the taste of a classic poutine is at the Cineplex - draw your own conclusions, and don't even get me started on the travesty that is Smoke's. I had RUDY on my list for a while after reading an article saying they had some of the best poutine in Toronto. Now, I've been burned before, and they're not exactly next door, so it took me a while until I was in the vicinity, but I didn't let the opportunity pass me by. I ordered a small one, just to try, and of course a milkshake ;P. All I can say is wow! Maybe I've been away from the homeland too long, but for the first time in this city I found a poutine here with gravy that tasted flavourful, fries that were crispy on the outside and still semi-solid on the inside, and curds that half melted and half squeaked - the best of both worlds! Double bonus, the gravy is homemade and vegetarian - beet based! I was blown away. To give some backstory, one of the big issues and misunderstandings that people have about cheese curds, you need to eat them fresh - day fresh. Once you refrigerate curds they lose their squeak, and then they're just immature cheddar cheese (read: really nothing special, and rather boring). (OK, sometimes you can refrigerate them for a bit, and they'll last a bit, but you need to eat them within the first two-three days max). The whole excitement is about squeaky salty squishy chunks of cheese! For some reason, in this province of Ontario, it seems nobody carries fresh curds, you can only find them refrigerated, even at the cheese shops - totally defeating the purpose! I don't know what the people at RUDY are doing to make the cheese taste that good, but whatever it is, don't stop! You've got a winner! I'm also very excited that RUDY is opening a new location a block away from me, on Duncan between Queen and Richmond, so now I can get my poutine fix much more often than is healthy for me xD. Fast service and it's a nice place for a snack. The burgers aren't filling enough for a full meal unless you're getting 2 or 3. My friends and I all got the original burger and they were juicy and flavourful. I tried my friend's chocolate milkshake and it was creamy and rich - how a milkshake should be! Rudy has been on my list forever and I happened to be in the neighbourhood so decided to give it a try. It's a typical fast food joint - fries, burgers & milkshakes. I ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich and Poutine. The chicken was very juicy and very crispy however, I didn't like that there was fatty bits. The sandwich is quite small in comparison to other places so I basically had a few bites and left the rest. In terms of taste though it was good. Moving on to the Poutine. The fried could definitely have used more cooking like a lot more but the gravy and cheese helped mask that. There was a great amount of cheese curds and they were very squeaky meaning it was fresh.
