I came here with my boyfriend because he was craving smashburgers. We came for dinner and there were many tables to choose from. It was bigger inside than I thought. My boyfriend had The Crudy and I got the Rude Dude with pickles along with a small poutine to share. I loved the classic poutine, you can't go wrong with it. The gravy was delicious and there was a good amount of cheese curds. My burger was pretty good, the veggies inside tasted fresh. I enjoyed my patty, it had crispy and slightly smoky edges. It had all the components of a good burger done right for me. And lastly, I got us the Banana Pudding for dessert. One thing about me, I love Banana Pudding and I will never turn some down. And honestly, it was wonderful. The dessert was rich, you had to dig in there to get the perfect balance of banana, cream, and the wafers. But every bite of that dessert was delicious and worth it. It was pipping hot and tastes so fresh, it had a ton of cheese curds 9/10 I got the "rude dude" it's the double cheese burger, I have to be honest, not the best. Out of all the smash burgers I've tried in toronto wouldn't get again. The patty way too dry and I ate it right away. The service was really nice, we ordered quickly but the food took a while and highly recommend the milk shakes. The strawberry one was so good but it's very sweet because of the ice cream in it fyi. We got the milk shake last, not sure if that's a bad thing because some people are fast eaters and will get thirsty when eating their food but I didn't mind! I am not a big fan of smash burgers, but smash burgers restaurants are appearing everywhere. The Rude Dude combo was okay. Just a burnt hamburger patty. I am disappointed because for the price I paid, I expected a bigger hamburger. I rather order from Wendy's. The poutine was pathetic and expensive. This is a review for delivery: The Rudy burger ($6.99), with it's smashed beef patty, is what drew him in. Quite frankly, I'm not sure why people like these burgers; to me, it tastes like having a burger patty in jerky format as all the juices are squeezed out and you're left with crispy edges. It's topped with tomato, lettuce, cheese, and their special sauce, but I still found it lacking in moisture. My husband tells me it's supposed to be like this and it's that caramelized crust that breaks through the soft bun that people like. I'd much rather get that crunch from raw onions or dill pickles any day. I'll just stick with their chicken burger, the Valentino ($8.49), where the chicken patty is thick and juicy, but still arrives with a crispy lightly battered crust. The protein is amazing. Where there's room for improvement is the bun - it's way too soft becoming sticky and mushy and barely holds together. At least they provide the sauces on the side or else that bun would have no hope. The Valentino sauce is sort of like a watery ranch and while the consistency is great for drizzling, it could be saltier. Once you really soak the patty with their light hot sauce and everything mixes with the coleslaw it does get tastier. Overall, a decent chicken sandwich. Their fries ($4.19) are a little pricy but a fair size and can be shared amongst two. It just needs to be double fried, so it doesn't arrive so soggy. And unlike the golden arche's fries, these barely have a lick of salt. You'll want to save some of the chicken burger sauce to dip these into. read more

The burgers arrived fresh and were generally pretty good quality. The bun is soft and doughy, the smashed patties are charred nicely, and the sauce is sweet and delicious. I think $10 for a single burger is a bit much since they're quite small... seems like something that should cost like $6-$7 each relative to the price of stuff like this in Toronto, but it's still a nice treat. I just grabbed the food to go, but the staff were super friendly and it's a nice location to sit in and grab a quick bite. I also like their Chicken Sandwich, but might try something completely new next time I visit. Overall, I'd recommend Rudy and would happily give them a 4/5! Check em out! :) read more

I passed by Rudy everyday for four months without knowing about it until my friend told me they served one of the best smashed burger in Toronto. One thing for sure: it's not cheap, especially given the small size. However, Rudy has consistently churned out great tasting burgers. Everything is executed well and the ingredients balance well with each other. The patty was a bit on the dry side but goes well with the soft bun and the tomatoes. The hero here is the cheese: perfect texture, amazing creaminess and just the right tang to complement the beef. I would personally leave out the lettuce since it can be too big for the burger! read more

There's nothing fancy-shmancy about Rudy, and it isn't the best burger in the city. That said, there's something about the tasty crispiness of its well-done patty, the squishy simplicity of its buns, the overloaded pile-on of the lettuce and tomato, and the drippy goodness of its special sauce that makes Rudy's cheeseburger a chef's-kiss experience. I ordered the Rudy Combo which includes the Rudy (a cheeseburger), poutine and I ordered the chocolate milkshake to complete the combo. I absolutely LOVED the cheeseburger. It was very delicious! The burger was the perfect size for me! The poutine was very delicious also, however, I feel it would be even better if I was able to eat it fresh at the location. Live so close to this place and didn't even realize it. My partner was craving burgers and we were so surprised to find out Rudy is nearby! However the burger isn't super tightly packed so I found it a little too crumbly. The poutine is delicious and next time I would order a large to share! Rudy's is our new go to spot for burgers and poutine! When you order a large poutine they layer the cheese curds in with the gravy and fries! They give you so much cheese! The burgers are thin, crispy patties on a soft bun. I would definitely reorder from Rudy again and again. read more

When I heard that Rudy was coming to the Yonge/Eglinton area, I was excited but also nervous. Certain other burger joints (*cough*Burger's Priest*cough*) have seen a very noticeable dip in quality as they've expanded too quickly. Was this going to be an issue with Rudy, which has always been a top-notch purveyor of hamburgers? I'm thrilled to report that such fears were completely unfounded. I walked up to Rudy's take-out window around lunchtime on a recent weekday and ordered the joint's namesake ("Cheeseburger, Lettuce, Tomato & Rudy Sauce"). I waited about 10 minutes and my piping-hot burger was handed to me. This is one phenomenal burger. The various components all work really well together - I especially love that tangy Rudy Sauce - but it's the patty itself that's the big draw here. It's perfectly cooked and boasts that absolutely irresistible crust you associate with griddle-smashed burgers. It's incredible (and completely addictive). I honestly can't remember the last time I ate a burger this good, and I can't wait to try some of the other items on Rudy's impressively sparse menu. read more

I've only tried their Rudy burger - it's smaller than your regular burger, which is perfect for me. It doesn't leave you feeling greasy and bloated after. The patty is quite juicy. I was looking for a good burger place on Yelp and found Rudy's! After reading the reviews, I definitely wanted to try it out and am glad I did! Their burger patties are on the thinner side and a little loosely packed so its a bit crumbly, but it makes the patty crispier when they grill it. Their poutine is also really good. For myself, I order the double patty burger and my fiance gets the single patty burger. We also share a large poutine. Rudy always smells incredible while walking by, but a recent visit left a little bit to be desired. Done in a typical smash burger style, the edges of the patties on a "Big Rudy", done up in a Bic Mac style, were so overdone they were burnt. Fries conversely were soggy. Happened to see a few people waiting for their order and decided to give this place a shot. So happy I did. The Rudy to me is the perfect burger, perfect proportions with a little char.
