I had a cup of coffee, the ABC omelet with sliced tomatoes and cottage cheese. The food was perfect and the ambiance also peaceful and serene. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and must say this location and the one in Redondo Beach are my two favorite Ruby's. Highly recommended. read more

FOOD. Ordered a regular burger with fries and chocolate shake. Burger: the pre-shaped beef patty was very dry, not very thick and tasteless. The meat lacked beef flavor. The bun was dry and not soft. On the other hand, the lettuce and small slice of tomato that accompanied the burger tasted fresh. The beef burger was terrible and overpriced for a burger. Rated 0/5 stars. The interior of the restaurant has counter seating and various other seating options. The restaurant was clean with plenty of large windows. However, it became noisy because some little kids were acting up nearby - although that's NOT the fault of Ruby's. We didn't stay very long due to the noise level. Rated 4/5 stars. SERVICE. One of my favorite places to go in CDM. I love the food , service hosts and ambience that this place offers. I had the cranberry sauce turkey sandwich with French fries and it was amazingly delicious. It's like Thanksgiving Day dinner and just love this sandwich. The hostess Faith was pleasantly welcoming and very friendly and attentive. I got my drinks and food pretty fast. Eric the other server had a great personality and all the team at this location is amazing. They all work well together and thank you for being friendly. My mom and I decided to have lunch at this Ruby's since we were in the area. The parking lot next to the Ruby's was a little inconvenient, and it was already quite full, but we managed to find a spot. We came on a Friday at 12 and it was relatively busy. Luckily, we were able to sit down immediately and our waiter, Caesar, was very quick to take our orders. I got the chicken tender salad and my mom got the fish and chips. Our food came out quick! We both enjoyed our meals. The tenders on the salads were generously sized and my mom loved the fries that came with her meal. Overall, it was a nice spot to grab lunch. If you grew up in Orange County, Ruby's is just a warm plate of nostalgia. No matter how long I've been away, when I come back, order my burger and shake, and take that first bite, I'm transported back to when I was in elementary school and my parents would take us here as a treat. I really love Ruby's. This location is on par with any other location you'll go to. Aesthetic is the usual throwback vibe and waitstaff is attentive and cheerful. I've never had a bad experience here. And that continues to the food. Everything comes out quickly and tastes fresh and warm and is just the right portion size. You're not going to be bringing any leftovers home (probably) but I also don't think you are going to leave hungry. And if you're still hungry after your main meal, might I suggest getting a milkshake? (If you do, don't get it to go. Order it for dine in that way you get your glass AND the leftovers from the tin cup they mixed everything in. Worst case, you don't finish it and then ask for a cup to take the rest to go). They have parking along the side of the restaurant.. I know some people here have complained that parking isn't great, but I've never had too much trouble. You might not be able to instantly park and walk in, but I've never struggled. read more

This was the second of three Ruby's Diners I recently ate at in one day (!!!) for my stepfather's recent 80th birthday celebration. It definitely had a vintage feel to it, and I'm guessing it's been here for awhile. It would probably appeal mostly to people at the older end of the Boomer spectrum. My veggie burger was very good and the service was good. Others in my party weren't as happy with their food as I was, but it was fine. Parking across the street had signs implying it was very restrictive re: time, but the restaurant personnel said it wasn't a problem so we risked it and we were fine. read more

If I could rate it 0 stars I would. First when I arrived to the restaurant, it wasn't very full + I was ordering to go, so I expected service to be FAST! But when ordering just 3 milkshake, I was told that it would take 8-10 mins. Which is completely understandable, but when it takes 40 mins. That's not expectable! I am very upset because when I told the server he seemed not to care, nor have a sense of urgency. And instead of making the situation better and offering an incentive, they told me they won't refund me my 24 dollars. Will not come again to this location. read more

I had a great experience! Of course most of us know about Ruby's. Hamburger, fries and a shake with a diner vibe. The service was great, everyone was so friendly. The restaurant was super clean and organized. The classic hamburger and fries were fresh and delicious! I usually don't order desserts often but I ordered a chocolate shake and it was the perfect addition. I love this location as it's on PCH in Corona Del Mar and it makes it that much more enjoyable and a nice treat! I would absolutely come back even for just a quick milkshake stop! read more

I have been coming here for years. It is my sons favorite place. The service is amazing. The staff are so welcoming and there isn't any request that they wouldn't say no to. Hadn't been to a Ruby's in over a decade; happily it hasn't changed! Love the 1950s diner vibe. Everyone was cheery on our Saturday lunch visit and although bustling, we were sat immediately. Alfredo was fantastic with a great personality and humor for days. Loved that I could have lunch while my friend had breakfast. Their Ruby (patty) Melt and onion rings are comfort food at its best. The French toast platter and bacon was also a huge hit. We left stuffed. Two full meals with wine for me and it was only $40 - what a deal! Hint hint: they have a private parking lot right beside this location! Our diner-dressed servers were so friendly and attentive. We were here for a work event and they reserved an entire section for us. We had onion rings - if you come here you must order these. They were perfectly fried and they give you multiple ample dipping sauces so they don't become boring half way through your pile. Haha. The green beans were ok. Crispy but lacked flavor. The burger was meh. Typical burger flavor. You'll need to add sauce and salt. Fried cod was ok. Also lacking flavor but fried to perfect crispy. The fried shrimp were not bad. The only thing that was disappointing were the fries. Limp and lukewarm at serving. Maybe you can ask for a quick flash fry to crispy because I know they can do it. Woah. Woah! WOAH! Delicious yo! Kansas City Missouri, 1992. It's the dog days of summer. I'm 12 years old, school is just around the corner, and I was DREADING it. Sure, I had been used to summers ending, after all, I was in the 4th grade and had plenty of summers under my belt. This summer however, felt different. I was moving. Moving across the country away from my home, my family, and my community. I was nine at the time and my mom had to move for work. I remember sitting out in the hot August heat, near our above ground pool, and pondering what life would be life. I was scared to move, scared to have to pick up and restart everything, the friends, the community. Would I ever find this again? One particular night as the move got close, I was sitting out back, tearing up and taking in the situation. It was hard to comprehend, being ten at the time. My grandfather saw me outside and came out with my very favorite. My face lit up like a Christmas tree. My grandfather had brought me a bowl of his famous chili, a recipe that had been in our family for 3 generations.
