I don't dine at Wahoo's Fish Taco much if at all. Saw them at Atrium Food Court in Fashion Island, Newport Beach. They were present. I was present. It was my chance to try them. Good menu options. Prices were average for seafood. Ordered Entree #2 with 1988 Taco, Fish Filet Taco, and Crispy Fish Taco plus rice & black beans. No drink. Black beans was super tasty... it was well seasoned and light... best I've ever eaten! Rice was just okay... nothing special. As for the tacos, they were decent size. Cabbages were fresh. Seasoning could be better. If I had to pick one best taco, it would be the Crispy Slaw Taco with mild chicken. Young man who took my order was pleasant. Wait time was average less than 15 minutes. Good dining space. I would be back for the black beans if not for the tacos. read more

Unfortunately we ordered delivery and it was less than pleasant. We were missing a citrus slaw burrito and door dash wouldn't correct it nor would the store. We ordered through their website. We were instructed to resubmit a new order for something so they could add the missing item to the new order, but by this time it was 15 min til closing and we were unable to do so. Now my cousin will need to follow up with door dash tomorrow to get her money back and my husband has no dinner. Total bummer for a place we typically enjoy. Love this chain, and no better place to eaeat at Fashion Island. I went on a date and after walking around for a couple hours, we decided to try this one out. She got the 3 fish tacos, and I got a two taco combo plate with shrimp and fish tacos. Comes with rice and beans, and a drink. We both loved our food, and the service was quick. Their salsas are spicy. The tacos I got were okay. Rice and beans were good. However it was $11 for 1 taco rice and beans. The prices need to come down for that little food. Rubio's definitely is better and cheaper. But this place is worth trying at least once. No loyalty program here but Rubio's has one. However unlike Rubio's this is not Mexican inspired food at all. It's like California cuisine. California Fish Grill while gone a bit downhill is still a way better value than Wahoo's. Better portions better food better prices. No reason to eat wahoos when rubios and california fish grill are nearby better and cheaper. read more

3.5/5 but I'll round up to a 4 Ordered a Spicy Fish Sandwich with fries. The sandwich itself was good, but nothing special. Fish was fried til crispy and the sandwich was actually spicy. I liked the slaw on it and the sandwich had good texture. The fries were basically unseasoned and not very good. Wow this was once a go to place since I frequent the area...not again. I ordered the Maui Bowl the rice has none of the flavor it once did and the beans are just fine. The shrimp have almost no sauce and look like cheap cocktail shrimp. When asking for pico I anticipated more than a 1/2 tsp. And I just can't get over leaving an empty spot mor rice or beans could have easily gone there without impacting the profit margin. Over all for $16 not worth it and won't be back. read more

We came here on Saturday Oct 4,2025, we were the only customers in the place, and the food took forever! They brought out my husbands Maui bowl, the meat was cut into itty bitty pieces, totally unappetizing, it looked like cat treats, and it was ice cold. Then I waited another 5-10 minutes for my combination fish taco and enchilada plate and it was cold too! The fish was rubbery and the cheese was solid in the enchilada, not even melted. It was terrible. We have been eating here for years, but with so many restaurants in Newport we will never go back. And by the looks of it, we aren't the only ones! read more

Next. stop: Wahoo's - Kid's Bowl ($7.41 base price) The Kid's 's Bowl comes with your choice of protein over a bed of rice and your choice of beans- I opted for mild grilled chicken over white rice and black beans. Fearing that I'd still be hungry, I also added extra protein - extra grilled spicy fish (+$2.28). Knowing how potentially bland the bowl could taste, I went ahead and added a side of Maria's Spicy Green Sauce for ($1.19). I am happy to report that the grilled chicken is still perfection. The spicy fish was an audible, but it was mild in flavor and paired v well with the spicy green sauce. Might I add that I went to town with the add-ons because I was trying to hit a minimum for DoorDash. For $10.88 I achieved an optimal lunch bowl at Wahoo's. Wahoos more like boohoos. It was my first time being at this chain of a restaurant and I was not impressed. I ordered fish tacos which is their specialty and it completely lacked flavor. The fried fish was dry, lacked all acid from lime and pico, had no other flavors besides tortilla. My husband ordered a burrito and it was so wet it turned into a pile of mush. This place is open with outdoor and takeout seating during COVID. The food is fresh and delicious. I had the fish tacos with citrus slaw, and my +1 had an enchilada. We enjoyed them. At Wahoos *fish* Tacos you have to pray extra for fish. The regular fish on any meal costs extra, not premium fish. Doesn't seem right if you come to Wahoos FISH Tacos that fish is an upgrade - such a scam. Price your menu so people don't get surprise up charges for things that should seemingly be included. Oh boy I can't believe that this was only my second visit to Wahoo's Fish Taco's because their food was so good. This was my second visit in about 4 years, and I glad I came back! Location: Located at beautiful Fashion Island food court tucked away in the far NW corner. The mall offers free parking and there are plenty of things to do besides shopping. Atmosphere: This cute little clean restaurant offers plenty of inside and outside patio seating (dog friendly!). The restaurant was nicely decorated, and I was able to order right away. Food: I ordered the Mahi Taco plate and boy it was sooo good!! The rice was garnished with pico de gallo, and the black beans had a nice flavor to them. The mild Mahi tacos were perfectly seasoned and amazing, imho. Very large portion for only $5.99 Verdict: Hands down 5 Stars for reasonable priced food, friendly service and very tasty food! Located in the food court, Wahoo's is a great little place to dine, while strolling though Fashion Island. Upon entering the restaurant, everything is clean and orderly, and there is a menu on the wall near the line, allowing you to decide your menu, while waiting your turn to order. The menu has a good variety of dishes, and many allow you do choose the type of protein that you would like included in your meal; e.g. fish, chicken, pork. I am am always drawn to my go to favorite; #1 combination plate, with an enchilada, rice and beans. Fish tacos are also a favorite choice at Wahoo's. The food is always fresh, flavorful and an excellent bargain. I especially like rich smooth flavor of the white rice. There are nice tables inside, but during this COVID season, very nice open outdoor seating is available. Besides the restaurant patio, there is the outdoor food court dining area with lots of tables and a relaxing water feature. Sitting in the outdoor patio is also a great option if you are enjoying an afternoon with your four-legged family member. I wish I could leave zero stars. The food had zero taste. We ordered 2 shrimp tacos plate, salmon bowl, and chips & guacamole. It cost us $42. It was not worth $1. It's over priced bland food. The guacamole had no taste. The chips had no salt or any seasoning. The rice is so bland and not even cooked well. The salmon was so bland and didn't even look like salmon. If you drench the shrimp tacos in sauce, it's somewhat edible. We left more than half our plates uneaten. Will not return. Avoid unless you like bland food. read more

Stopped by here this past Saturday afternoon with my wife. Service was good. Food came out pretty quickly even though it was very busy. I got a salad that had fresh greens and perfectly cooked chicken. Cilantro dressing was good. My wife got the protein bowl with Salmon. Had two pieces of salmon on the salad which is a great portion. One salmon was a little overcooked and the other one was cooked perfectly. The veges in the protein bowl were over cooked and kind of mushy. I love the chips and salsa. read more

I came Sunday, April 24th at 2:30 pm. There weren't a lot of customers. Actually, I walked straight to the register as there was no line. I could tell the tables had not been cleaned in a long time so I had to ask to have my table cleaned to sit with my two kids. I ordered a beer which took almost 20 minutes to get. Then when it was ready, I wasn't called and it just sat there at the bar getting warm. Considering the location, I had higher expectations. I was very disappointed! I will post a picture of a table that sat dirty for 35 minutes and no one came to clean it the whole time I sat there.
