Back here after a couple of years! And I would say the best time is during the holidays. Still the nice cozy ambiance but then also nicely decorated for the holidays. It does not have the cozy modern vibe, but more of the quiet old school luxury cozy vibe. Also, we just recently went back to Bistango after maybe around 15 years! And so we were able to tell that it's the same owner. Our waiter did confirm after we asked. Service is really good. They give a bit more attention, that is befitting of high end restaurants. The food... everything we ordered is just delish!! This place really has it all! I tried their raw oysters. I believe it was from the east coast, at least what they had that time. They were on the smaller side which usually tastes much better than the bigger ones. And I love them! We also got the wedge salad which is nice and refreshing. The rib eye steak is cooked to perfection and flavorful! And we also enjoyed their tuna tartare. And for dessert, we had the cream brûlée! A perfect ending! One thing I also really love about this place is the live music. And that night, the music they were playing are some of my favorites! Not sure why it took us long to come back again, but will surely be back!

American fare. Bread service and butter to start. Starters menu like Salads, tuna tartare, and other yummies! Had the ribeye steak and a wedge salad. Both are super yummy! Service is good and attentive. Apropos of Newport Bay. Classy enough and great ambiance but not intimidating at all. And band music serving it up well. Same owners as Bistango in Irvine. Yes, especially when the band plays!

I came here for a company event for dinner. I started with a New Old Fashion to drink, which was good. I know it was made with Maker's Mark but it tasted like there was some maraschino cherry puree underneath the large ice cube. It was quite good! We had a pre-set menu for the dinner. I had a spring mix salad with with feta and bleu cheese crumbles, pistachios with balsamic glaze. I had the chicken dish with polenta and spinach. I was impressed with the chicken! It was well seasoned and was cooked properly but was also amazingly juicy! For dessert I had vanilla ice cream with diced strawberries in a strawberry glaze. The ambience was nice and we were in a separate party room. The service was great all the way around! I have no idea how much the event cost but this was a great experience. Five stars!

Brunch Menu (as of our 6/1/25 visit) offers "Create Your Own" 2 and 3 course options.

4.5 Stars Follow up visit with a group of 12. Bayside is in a nice location offering wonderful ambiance, and very nice views of the bay, boats, and waterfront homes from inside, as well as the covered patio. They had live music (guitarist/singer on our visit) and they offer free valet parking (tips appreciated). SERVICE: Larry waited on us again, and once again the service was excellent. As before, he was kind enough to provide separate checks for our group, and they didn't add a mandatory tip, as many restaurants do with larger parties. I would suggest that you ask about this upfront, so there's no miscommunications. I did have one pet peeve with one of the assistant waitstaff who kept trying to remove plates/glasses without asking if people were done. Easily handled with some additional training. DRINKS: They have a full bar and fantastic wine list. The brunch menu offers two options for bottomless mimosas: a Wycliff Sparkling Brut ($15) from California, and a GH Mumm Brut ($30) from France, along with orange, cranberry, and grapefruit juice to mix. Once again, I had a Spicy Southern Bloody Mary ($16), which was loaded with crispy bacon, olives, and a giant celery stalk...a meal in itself. I also had a glass of Justin Cabernet Sauvignon ($16) with my meal. FOOD: They changed up the brunch menu a little, offering a "Create Your Own" 2-course ($34) or 3-course ($39) option (plus $$ for a couple entrée items). For a group of our size, the orders came out quickly, and the portions were plenty. I felt that the food was better this year, maybe a new chef or kitchen staff? We tried the multi-course option going with a Bayside House Salad ($14) and California Omelette ($24), with tomato, avocado, spinach, and gruyere cheese, and a side of breakfast potatoes. Also tried the Roasted Red Beets ($15), Steak & Eggs ($37), and the NY Style Cheesecake ($13). A friend had the Caesar Salad ($14) and Ora King Salmon ($46). Others in the group tried various entrees and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy their selections. Another nice brunch experience with very good service. I would recommend Bayside for either an intimate or casual meal, or for a group event. We'll be back!

It was a really nice experience! First time coming by and I can happily say that I'd much rather dine here than competing restaurant sapori up the road, A nice table was readily available to me and the service I received by our waitress Martina was truly exceptional. The food was hot and delicious and also we were able to enjoy live music with our dinner. I must say , being turned away by sapori was the best thing to happen because I finally had a chance to stop into this beautiful gem of an establishment. I'm happy to say that I will be returning as a regular here. Great experience with my grandmother!

Had a nice Valentine's Day Dinner at Bayside on the 14th. Gwendolyn was our server and very nice and professional. We had the prefix menu at $135 a person. My wife started with the Cesar salad and I had the crab cake. We both had tequilla drinks. For our main entree my wife had the Sea Bass and I had the Salmon. Both dishes were very good. The music was amazing with the trio playing some awesome tunes. For desert we had a coffee and both the flour less chocolate cake and the strawberry shortcake. A nice meal, Valet parking and we felt the love in the air. Recommended

Before going to see the summer jazz concert finale, we went to this eatery because they have a great happy hour setup for drinks and food. At half price for food and drinks, that's a pretty good deal. The food was ok - not great but good enough to have a meal before the concert. Their beef slider was delicious though and the oysters were a dollar a piece for the happy hour. We chased that down with a good bottle of red called Earthquake and off we went. The flatbread pizza was so good, the bread and butter appetizer disappeared quickly. The service was outstanding! The young lady server we had was very attentive indeed. She got a good tip. 2 pluses to the place. Great live music at happy hour - jazzy tunes that are very familiar to older folks. The other plus is a shuttle van to the concert venue at the Newport Hyatt. You pay for it but it beats driving and parking your vehicle. It's all good!

Nice deco, good brunch selection, Sunday includes live music. Friendly staff, good portion and well prepared food. Calamari shareable and beet salad are very good. Salmon and the asparagus risotto is very good. Short ribs Benedict is a surprising alternative. Interesting Bloody Mary selection. Our server and wait staff are very attentive and helpful. The performer is very good and welcoming. Definitely cisit if you are in the Newport Beach area.

Definitely a wonderful experience and the food was excellent in both taste and presentation. Service was very attentive and made sure anything you needed was prompt. Great espresso martini as well. Great vibe on a Saturday night for an older crowd but enjoyable for everyone seeking a higher end experience.

We really enjoy the food and service at Bayside Restaurant. In twenty plus years we've never had a bad experience with either. The Rack of Lamb is a favorite along with their house salad and great desserts.

This past Sunday, I came in with my daughter, who was really craving a steak. She ordered it medium, but it came out a little more well-done than expected. What impressed me most wasn't the mistake, but how it was handled. Our server, Jenny, was attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about our experience. We never asked for the steak to be removed from the bill, but Jenny and the manager took the initiative to make it right and comped it because it didn't meet their standards. That level of customer service is becoming rare, and it really stood out. My burger was absolutely delicious, the rest of the food was excellent, and Jenny even brought my tea in a to-go cup without me having to ask. It's not always the big things that make a difference it's the little details that show a restaurant truly cares about its guests. Thank you, Jenny, and the entire team, for another wonderful experience. Great food, outstanding service, and a team that goes above and beyond. I highly recommend Great Maple and will definitely be back.

The waitress serving our section seemed slightly disinterested in everything that was going on. Not necessarily a bad thing but she didn't do much to set herself apart. We tried the burger and the steak sandwich and the truffle fries. The burger was perfectly cooked, and it lasted like over charcoal or charbroiled. It was almost a perfect burger except that by the end the garlic flavor (tasted real and fresh - not powdered) was a bit overwhelming for my palette. The combo with the red onions (also potent) made for an intense experience, and the first bite was sublime. The steak sandwich was seasoned similarly and presented like a close cousin of the burger, with similar toppings and flavor profile. The fries were unremarkable both straight and Parmesan truffled. For the price I want blown away. I have had burgers and sandwiches of similar quality for 60% of the mid $20s we paid for these two dishes. Overall, this is an excellent spot for a small group with diverse tastes, there will be something for everyone, and it's just upscale enough (matching its Fashion Island surroundings) to be worthy of a date night or professional meetup over lunch if you work in Newport Center as well.

The staff who assisted with seating and bringing silverware were also friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, our dining experience declined once our order was taken. We ordered the Beets Salad as our starter, followed by the Chicken Piccata and Salmon as our entrées. The salad arrived within about five minutes, but we then waited nearly 40 minutes for our main courses without any acknowledgment or update. When I asked our waitress about the delay, her only response was, "Your order was fired 15 minutes ago." When I asked why it had taken so long, she simply repeated the same statement. At no point did she offer a sincere apology or show any empathy for the extended wait. As someone who has owned and managed businesses, I know that delays can happen. However, a simple apology and proactive communication can make all the difference in how guests perceive the experience. The food itself was excellent, and both entrées were well prepared. Unfortunately, the service continued to disappoint. After we finished our meals, our waitress immediately cleared our plates and brought the check without asking whether we would like dessert, coffee, or anything else to finish our evening. That was surprising and made us feel rushed. I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand that every business can have an off night. In this case, however, the issue was not the kitchen delay--it was the lack of communication, empathy, and basic hospitality. Had our waitress simply apologized, kept us informed, or involved a manager, this review likely would not have been necessary. I hope management views this as constructive feedback. Andrea and several other staff members represented the restaurant exceptionally well, but I believe additional customer service training would help ensure that situations like this are handled with greater professionalism and care in the future.

We had visited…read morethe Sherman gardens nearby and I yelped a place for lunch and by happenstance saw lobster rolls are a fan favorite here which my man absolutely loves, as he is from Maine. Parking was actually a breeze for us in the neighborhood nearby and we walked right down to the place where there were tables and the line wasn't long. Should've gone with the lobster roll but I opted for my usual clam chowder which came out smaller than I thought. When the order came out we also saw they didn't include the seasoned fries I ordered, which is fine because it wasn't on the receipt either. I told my man we don't need to order anymore because we had plenty. Just make sure when ordering you have them read it back not to miss anything. The clam chowder was good, could've had more clam but came out piping hot, which I know is an issue sometimes at places like this. My son got the tuna melt and couldn't finish his potato chips. Wish they had coke on the menu instead of Pepsi, that's my only qualm but other than that next time I'd definitely order the lobster roll.

We're reminded of how much we love this place that just keeps getting better…read more Better foods....no seeds oils, and lots of attention to sourcing....you can't make good food if you can't pay attention to where it comes from. Service is always excellent no matter who is serving - today it was Karen - thank you Karen you were excellent! How do you make sure you provide excellent service? Two things you cannot ignore...hiring good people and training them well. Today on the patio was quiet but busy. Acoustics are good. Lot's of servers delivering food. Lot's of hustling. Grass Fed beef is a hit....well done! Chop Salad is our favorite....we have it every time and never get tired of it. The corn soup is to die for....what a brilliant idea! Thank you chef and thank you servers!

Our experience was shocking! We asked the waitress to…read morerecommend a dish with no sugar (diabetic friendly) and one of the dishes in question was glass noodle dish because on the menu it doesn't say what type of sauce they use, she said that the sauce was soy based and assured the dish was safe to eat. We all have allergies and specific diets (unfortunately) and that is why we went there, because they have all this delicious and healthy options and we used to go to the one in San Diego and never had any issues. 45 minutes later (restaurant had 4 tables in use, so basically empty) our food came, we are kind of anxious and very hungry. I tasted the glass noodles and commented that is was too sweet at first bite. Waitress kind of annoyed assured the sauce was soy based. After eating we asked the manager about the sauce because it felt very sweet, so he went to the kitchen and asked and of course the sauce was super sweet, sugar, sugar, sugar!! Ended up with a special medication at home for a huge spike in sugar level! How incredibly dangerous this was!! Any life threatening allergy, or a DIABETIC should be confident that what we are eating is what we are told! I couldn't believe it! This never happened to me before anywhere, not to mention that my friend's meal came out wrong and when asked about what was missing, that was big part of the dish (avocado) the waitress was annoyed. Never apologized for her mistake, never approached the table or acted worried at all after we talked to the manager. I have to say the manager was very worried and apologetic and that we didn't make a scene or were aggressive or rude to anyone. A formal complaint will be made because it could have ended horribly bad. I hope the staff there gets well trained on their menu to be able to give an accurate and responsible answer to any requests and questions from costumers. If a diabetic kid or senior eat that meal it could have ended up in the hospital. It is not a simple mistake, it was scary and shocking.
