Snipe Burger
Michael Y.

What a burger!! Came in for a brew and the very nice waitress offered me to get the aptly named Snipe Burger and damn that thing was unexpectedly delicious!! Packed with deep umami flavor all on a soft little bun with lettuce tomato and red onion, I kept munching till there was nothing left! Had to rush but this spot is one to be remembered! Till next time I'm on the island! Thank you Snipe! Save a tee for me cuz I will be back!!!

Be There...or Be Square! This retro & cool gem, on The Island, is a great place to relax and watch The World go by! Jaimie was a friendly youthful server, who made me feel very welcome. The Happy Hour homemade meatballs, with delicious buttered bread were to die for! Can't wait to return!

Love the Ahi-Sriracha Sandwich

Stopped here once for dinner a year or so ago because every other place was packed. I got the Ahi-Sriracha sandwich and I've been coming back for the same sandwich ever since! Service and beer are always top notch as well. I can't say I've tried any other food here, but I'll keep coming back for this sandwich alone LOL

Our server was great and loved the indoor outdoor feeling of this little spot. My rating is based on the food and I was also disappointed they were out of the NA beer options. That was one thing we were looking forward to on this beautiful day (to sit down after shopping to enjoy a na beer) we just wanted a snack so we ordered the meatball bruschetta and the calamari. The meatball bruschetta was good but I felt the meatballs were lacking in flavor but overall it was a good dish for the 4 of us to share. The calamari wasn't my fave only because it was huge slices and I typically like thin sliced squid for a little less chew and more crunch but overall the flavor was good and it was the perfect amount of food for the 4 of us to share.

We popped in after a walk on Balboa Island on a Saturday. It wasn't too crowded, we got seated right away. Our server was friendly, service a bit slow but we weren't in a rush and most people are here to relax and have a good time. We got a burger and a pizza, both were yummy! Seems they have a lot of local craft beer options, and cool seating options.

Took the Ferry over to the island and strolled along the waterfront to Marine Street. Dropped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated right away and served water. Ordered a couple of their tap beers, Sausage and Fennel pizza, and Eggplant pizza. Really enjoyed their pizza crust. Great casual place to sit and people watch.

Outstanding food! Great service. I ordered the ribeye sandwich with a salad. So good!!!! If you are on Balboa Island, make sure to visit Snipe Island Crafthouse.

Bacon Avocado Burger without the bun and a side salad instead of fries.

My husband and I both got the bacon avocado burger. He got his as described on the menu, with fries. He said it was delicious. Beautiful brioche bun, excellent fries. I got mine without a bun, and a side salad instead of fries since I'm doing keto. It was super satisfying and I really enjoyed it. We ordered them medium well since there is pork in the patty mixture and I was nervous to have it too pink. The waiter was super friendly, and helpful. Wish I could remember his name. The place is clean and comfortable.

The interior of this restaurant is pretty comfortable. Some tables inside and 2 areas to sit while facing outside. We were lucky to get the latter. Our server was good but didn't offer a soda refill until we were done with our meals (-1 star). Bf ordered a taco salad with steak, and while good, he said he was disappointed that the server didn't clarify that it wasn't actually steak but ground beef (-1 star). I ordered the snipe burger and it was quite tasty. The brioche bun was a little greasy but it complimented the burger very well. I think it would be worth visiting this restaurant again when we do decide to visit Balboa Island again.

When booking, I had the option of dining , chef's table, or patio seating. I specifically chose the dining since my daughter loves creating content, and the indoor ambiance is absolutely beautiful for photos. The hostess seated us on the patio, and I mentioned that I had selected dining. I was told that seating is based on first availability, which was a little disappointing, especially since the restaurant is right on the water and by 7:30 PM it was getting pretty chilly. While they do have heaters outside, sitting in gusty winds with the smell of gas (especially after a fresh trip to the hairdresser!) just wasn't ideal. My daughter went back to the car to grab a blanket. Thankfully, the hostess noticed my discomfort and came back shortly after saying, "Donna, we have another table further down that's out of the wind and under a heat lamp." That small gesture made a big difference, and honestly, that's when the experience started to turn around. From there, things only got better. When our entrées arrived, our waiter Nick realized we had never received our appetizers. Without hesitation, he assured us he would make it right, and he absolutely did. He brought out a selection of cheeses for us to sample, which led to us ordering a caviar bump paired with champagne (highly recommend!). To top it all off, he surprised my daughter with olive cake and fresh berries to celebrate her birthday. Such a thoughtful touch. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Not just because the food was amazing, but because of the attention to detail and how seriously they take the overall dining experience. Parking is available in a nearby garage, and they validate the first 90 minutes, which is a nice bonus.

I had this place bookmarked on Yelp since November when it was all dressed up for the holidays. The…read morepictures of the interior looked beautiful and the food looked great. Yesterday, I came here for my birthday lunch with my mom after she made a reservation, and honestly, I wish we had just gone somewhere else. We sat down right at our 1:00 reservation and then waited 35 minutes just to get a drink menu. Not food. Not to order. Just the menu for drinks. After we finally ordered, the champagne showed up about 20 minutes later. It was served in wine glasses, which feels like basic wine bar knowledge, but apparently not here. When we asked to switch them to champagne glasses, the waiter brought out smaller wine glasses. Not exactly good etiquette for a place that leans so heavily on its bar concept. The whipped ricotta appetizer came out even later, around the 65 minute mark. As an appetizer. It was fine, probably the best thing we had, but "fine" after that kind of wait is not a positive. From there, everything just dragged. It took almost an hour for my mom's meatballs to come out, and when they did, they were raw. Not slightly underdone. Fully pink in the middle. She sent them back and was so turned off she didn't even want to eat anything else. I ordered a salad and specifically asked for light dressing. What I got was the opposite. It was drenched in a thick, heavy dressing that made the whole thing borderline inedible and the lettuce soggy. After our food, I tried to order drip coffee, which they didn't have, so I settled for an Americano. I asked for warm cream, which I've had done at plenty of places, and somehow it came out clotted. If you know anything about coffee, that shouldn't happen. At this point, we had been there for over two and a half hours. For a salad, an appetizer, and four raw meatballs. The server was very nice and doing his best with being busy. BUT, the overall operation felt completely disorganized and untrained. We weren't the only ones either. The couple next to us was also complaining after waiting 40 minutes just to order breakfast items. To make it even better, parking is only comped for 90 minutes. So because of their slow service, we ended up paying for parking on top of overpriced, underwhelming food. What should have been a 45 minute lunch turned into a 2.5 hour ordeal. The bathroom also wasn't clean either time I went, which pretty much sums up the lack of attention to detail across the board. The only slightly redeeming part was the crème brûlée, which was... fine. Not amazing. Just fine. It's a pretty space. I'll give them that. But that's about where the positives end. The food is not good, the timing is unacceptable, and the whole experience feels like Instagram style over quality and substance. Definitely not worth the money, and not somewhere I'd ever go back to.

It's waterfront and can be accessed via the boardwalk (it's behind the street-side shops). Parking can be tough and very expensive - you'll likely have to park in the structure and walk over. Make sure to take your ticket with you for validation. Seating is available inside and outside on their covered patio. Plenty of space for parties of all sizes. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to make a same-day reservation for a Sunday afternoon. They had plenty of open seating even when we got there. Tables were very dirty. They have a lot of work to do - it seems like months if not years of food, dust, and salty moist air mixed together and collected in the creases in the tables, on the walls, etc.. It's like a sticky gross residue that never gets completely clean. Many people like to dress nice in the area but honestly I would hate to wear something nice here out of fear it would get dirty. We also required new plates as ours had old food stuck to them. Service was not great. Our waiter was somewhat attentive but not nice - the poor guy seemed miserable like he hated his job and did not want to be there. Despite the restaurant being full, he wouldn't come by often when we actually needed something - he even disappeared towards the end and a new waiter had to help us. Food is delicious. Besides the location, their saving grace. We tried the sandwiches and yummy! Fries were also delicious with the spicy mayo. Love the different options they have, overall. They also had some great looking food on the brunch and drinks section of the menu. You can scan the QR code at the table to see pictures of each menu item. Overall was good and we'll be back every once in a while because we love Lido. Will try sitting inside in hopes the tables are decent. Really hope management makes some improvements though!

It was the Saturday before Mother's Day, so it was a little busier than usual, but it didn't compromise the service. Drinks came out a little slow, but the food arrived in a reasonable time. I ordered the house margarita and it was better than expected. I usually opt for wine here. The salmon was delicious and the yogurt sauce really set it off. Perfect portion, fresh, and overall a great guilt-free option. The bolognese wasn't my favorite dish, it lacked protein, but the sauce was tasty. Whether you're stopping in for apps or a full dinner, the vibes won't disappoint.

It is also a spot for celebrating special occasions. They usually have special menus for holidays. I tried a three-course prix fixe dinner with salad (good size), steak, and dessert. It was $70 and I felt it's quite worth the price. Given today's price levels, I think this place is "affordable high-end dining" - where you do spend more than usual, but the food and experience are rewarding. Certainly seafood is one of their specialties, however, we do like their steak and pork. Parking in this area is very difficult. The only option is to park in the Lido garage. The restaurant does validate however, customers sometimes need to ask for it. Our waiter was nice enough to have reminded us about that. Overall a good solid restaurant that usually keeps up their quality and service; and provides a nice dining experience for their customers.
