Normally I love Flame Broiler and we used to order many times a week years back as we all enjoy healthy meals, but then a cook started overcooking the meat and food became inconsistent (sometimes ok and sometimes not- then started to be always dry). We tried to be loyal for so long. In past, we placed suggestions with staff but no changes to food quality. Then it just got to we all felt meat too dry and too expensive to not enjoy our meals, so stopped going. Years go by, was missing and thought maybe they improved so recently tried 3 times, and sadly still inconsistent-there were a few moist pieces of chicken, but most were either dry or like jerky. Last time only 3 moist pieces, 2 pieces I spit out as had weird taste (like bad pieces), and rest super dry. I went back to work with my jaw hurting from chewing so much just for chicken to dissolve so I could swallow. Shared my experience with colleagues and they had same experience so no longer will go to FB. Sad as they want to go there too. With all the medical facilities close by with thousands of workers wanting healthy meals, Flame Broiler could have so many more customers via catering, delivery, or visits if their food had better quality control and better customer service flow. Kudos to the gentleman at front as he was nice and doing his best handling everything, even helping in kitchen. I agree with other poster from medical field that Safe Serve training would be helpful as I also had that concern in past about hand hygiene. (If touch contaminated surface or meat wash hands and new gloves) I have several years restaurant experience, including as cook, and my guess is chicken is either cooked earlier and reheated or previously cooked is combined with fresh cooked meat, so would be better if each meal cooked to order so meat is fresh and moist each order. The wait is always long anyway (as always checking my watch as need to get to work, but my fault for not calling ahead) so few extra minutes for fresh is worth it and could put up a sign explaining process. The restaurant lately is so hot and humid, the other customers there with us were all talking about how uncomfortable it was, so best to get to-go. Flame Broiler NB please follow your corporate standards as the others I have been too in other cities meat has been moist. I did not want to do this Yelp but we have expressed concerns in past and no changes, so just want owners to know why those of us locals are not ordering when we would like to. Most of my friends refuse to go back though as they have given up so not sure if they would trust to use for our catered events :( read more

Good food but NO GLOVES by food handlers. There bowls are consistently good and feels relatively healthy. While I was ordering tho today, I noticed the woman who was putting the bowls together wasn't wearing gloves. I work in healthcare myself and would hope that people in the food industry would follow rules for hygiene just like we do. I love the food and have been here multiple times but will refrain if staff aren't help to general food handling laws.. read more

They let someone impersonate a DoorDasher and steal my food. Then told me that it was up to me to deal with DoorDash. Sergio was sweet and apologetic but then the manager Mike called and was super rude. He said he was trying to help, but all he was trying to do is pass the buck to DoorDash. They should really pay attention and confirm the order numbers prior to giving the food away. read more

I have to say, this flame broiler has some of the best costumer service I've experienced. Everyone is always very kind, I have to point out Kiana. So I started going to Flame Broiler a few months ago. I thought initially, ehh it's like Korean fast food, been there and done that since I'm Korean. Well since being introduced to this chain, I've been hooked and have gone to a bunch of different locations but this one is by far the best. I'm there about three or more times a week. 1. Excellent customer service, especially from Maribel. She is always greeting customers with a smile on her face. 2. Great quality of food. 3. Ample free parking. 4. Speedy. I like to call my order ahead of time and it's ready in about 10 minutes or they can get it ready if you need to pick it up later. 5. Avocado, you can add it...only at this location. 6. Punch card. Five regular entree purchased get a free drink, ten punches get a free bowl. 7. Self serve sauces...the magic sauce combined with the regular hot sauce hits the spot. read more

I'm never disappointed with my food when I go to this location! I just stopped in yesterday to get my usual: chicken bowl with half rice half veggies and I took it down to the beach since the location is so close. They always cook the food perfectly and here is never a problem with fatty meats here. One thing I would have to point out is that the coke soda is always super watered down so I don't usually buy sodas here anymore. In addition to the food being great, the customer service at this location is spot on. Everyone that I have interacted with at this location has been extremely nice and friendly. This is my very favorite FB in the area and I am a longtime FB fan! Unfortunately some FBs do not have the same consistent quality of food I've come to expect, so I gladly drive out of my way to this location for their consistent food quality & service. I especially appreciate that they actually stay open until their close time and are willing to take phone orders 15 minutes before closing- very few restaurants do that. I loved it. The hubby wanted a burger next door and I happened to see this place and it looked much more like my kinda of food. I went in and the young lady cashier was awesome. She said I could have it with no rice and all veggies Yes, please! It was great. Full of carrots and broccoli and cabbage and green onions. I asked for tofu and it was the good tofu not that weird spongy kind. We sat outside and I ate my bowl and the husband ate his burger. I liked their magic sauce, I added some of the spicy sauce too, and it was fantastic. We had just returned from a two hour + dolphin watching cruise out at balboa peninsula. read more

For some reason I've been to other flame broilers and never really liked their chicken.. THIS and only THIS flame broiler has the best chicken!!!! Most places have huge pieces of chicken and some parts are burnt and some aren't. This flame broiler has been consistent with their chicken and it always comes out with equal sized pieces of chicken that are all a little crispy (which how I love it!!)
